Scandalous to leave it until now. They knew the condition last night and the forecast today so make the call earlier and let people plan around it!

Bit late for travelling support. Probably be rescheduled for next week as next fixture was Galway at home on 25th. The refixed date will be announced tomorrow. Safe home to all who are travelling.

Farcical handling by Monaghan, went to Dublin last night and as far as Drogheda this morning. Fair play to you Kerrygold, that must be terribly frustrating. The GAA will have to draw up a strict protocol about the postponement of matches. It looks as if the Monaghan county board made a hash of this. Presumably , this will upset Eamon's training schedule. I imagine every week is pencilled in for specific types of preparation . There will need to be a reprogramming with a Galway a big threat in two weeks. It will be interesting how their match with Mayo pans out this afternoon.

Perfect weather a few miles down the road in Louth. Is joined up thinking that difficult once teams and supporters have mobilised?

What I can't figure out is why it wasn't called off at 9am.
Met a few people at J14 who had been on the way up too only to hear that it was called off after 11.
Would have saved 4 hours travelling if they just had the balls to make the call at 9.

Didn't Dublin get a game moved pretty last minute in recent years, pretty sure it was somewhere in Connaught. Supporters had to be bussed and it was hassle but the game got played alright. I think there were other options that could have been looked at.

So if the decision was taken at 9am to move the game to Louth, for example, it would have been played and inconvenienced nobody compared to moving it to next weekend.

Farcical handling by Monaghan, went to Dublin last night and as far as Drogheda this morning. Ah terrible but the word is that they gave it every chance in the know that most travelers would have committed by 9am anyway, including the teams and where there is pressure to get the game played. While the snow was heavy all over Ulster, it was also patchy - Letterkenny is white but other towns melted when they came out of 8am mass - maybe their prayers were answered? Don't know the story though re an alternative venue though and it is a terrible anti-climax when looking forward to a game after making all the effort and incurring such expense. Keep then auld chin up, remember we have to climb Hogan in September!

Where does it say that was the pitch at 9? The picture was posted at close to 12- they hardly sat on the photo for 3 hours

Roscommon ground two years was deemed unplayable at 9am pitch inspection, Massive amount of Dubs were on the trains to Roscommon that morning , when they heard the news. While others had arrived the previous night. Game was then moved to Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada Leitrim. Buses brought supporters to Leitrim. I drove down that morning.

Have to say great stuff by o Sheas bus service who refunded all passengers the full price today, there really was no need for them to do this as what happened today was of absolutely no fault of theirs and truly was just a farcical decision on the part of the monaghan county board and the gaa Fair play to John. A real gent. And a lovely gentleman to work with as well.

The Sunday game saying next weekend is when the game will most likely be played. We potentially will have a new midfield if this is the case and UCD win during the week.

I believe the GAA should introduce a rule that the host county should lose home venue if a match is cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled fixture. This would put more emphasis on having a "Plan B" (eg a standby venue) and making decisions in a more timely fashion for travelling supporters.

Yes very poor that decision was left so late. Could have a knock on effect for our chances of beating monaghan. I wonder will Lee Keegan be so vocal this week about his teams antics yesterday

If UCD win during the week we will be light enough in midfield any news on D.Moran? David went back training last Tuesday - might be pressed into action earlier than he/management would like.

Surely Daithi CAsey and big Brendan will get the nod in that scenario Based on the team and subs that were announced for last week that would make the most sense if the UCD lads are not available. Eanna O Conchuir might be another option as he plays midfield fro An Ghaeltacht. Does Adrian Spillane play midfield for Templenoe?

The likes of Mark Griffin/Adrian Spillane/Eanna O Conncuir are surely worth a try if available in midfield

Having wasted a day and a tank of petrol yesterday I think I'll make do with Gary and Ambrose next Sunday. Hard to get the head around driving the guts of another 1000k to the same venue again so soon alright. It would be like Micko sending you out for the last segment of 14 laps having done segments of 8 - 10 & 12 laps with return goal post to goal post sprints in between each segment!
