Some great games in prospect, Crokes and Dingle possible favourites to advance but predicting the relegation battle almost impossible!

8 really strong clubs now, I think it shows it was the right decision to change the number of senior teams from 11 to 8 a few years ago. Hard to look at any of these teams and say they are Intermediate standard. Maybe Legion would be most likely to go down.

Dingle are a team laden with talent and potential
The 2 Tom Sullivan's and Matthew Flaherty at the back, Barry & Dara O'Sullivan at midfield, 4 geaneys in attack plus cathal bambury. serious potential but with so many players away at college with county teams etc, I imagine it isn't easy pull it together
I would see Legion as most vulnerable
How does relegation work if a team has a right good run in the senior county championship and is bottom of the pile in the club championship?

Bottom club in each group play in relegation play off - if the bottom team reach senior county championship final, 3rd placed team will have to take their place.

A lot of expectation for Gaeltacht here it seems. Wouldn't be so sure about them finishing ahead of Strand Road and Stacks as most seem to be.

Bottom teams from group play off loser goes down unless they make county final Rahillys or stacks v legion I would be thinking I think Gaeltacht could find the going tough in this group - they had a fine season in Div 1 as they were not as affected as some other teams by county commitments - Brian O’Beaglaoich was the exception; they had 12 players with West Kerry , a team beaten by Feale Rangers & Dr Crokes in county championship. They have had a long season and it could tell. Stacks will be a different proposition under new management & KO’R reached a county semi final last year - think these games are very close to call! Group 2 is all about potential with Dingle but they were disappointing last year losing to Legion & Rahillys in the club & senior championships; Kenmare were a surprise but will be dangerous , Rathmore probably in transition, Legion too. Dingle would be favorites to top group but again no certainties.

Anyone to touch the Crokes? Very unlikely, Crokes will naturally look to win this as insurance in case they get a fright from one of the divisional teams in the latter stages of the County Championship.

I think Rathmore could be dark horses. Don't rule them out. Crokes have brought in some youth. Mike Potts Jack Griffin David Naughton Billy Courtney David Shaw Paul Clarke Jason Lyne will all see a lot of time this year.
I think Crokes still have a strong bench. All of the teams have a good first 15 it could come down to the bench. Thats where I think Crokes have the edge.

For some reason I take more of an interest in the intermediate and junior.. subconsciously assume Crokes will win it. Is there anyone that can de rail them.? What about Rathmore? Dingle ? Still seem to be that bit off Crokes

I think he is. Naughton and Potts could start in the backs. Shaw will start in the forwards. Clarke could play midfield in the club championship.

Stacks beat KOR by about 5-not a great game to be honest.
Tommy was flying, BJK got sent off, Stacks better in most positions. Ref was atrocious- didn’t know the rules and essentially let Donaghy tell him what to do which in the end was quite embarrassing.
Tommy suffered from big man syndrome in this game whereby in order to win a free he had to be almost partially decapitated.
He was pulled down running through 3 separate times and the ref gave yellow cards- was that not what the black card was brought in for? KOR went for a short kick out and Donaghy knocked it away- under new rules that’s also a black!
Stacks have learned from ardfert- in having 5/6 lads on the sideline who harrange & harass the ref and linesman at every opportunity- any mentor who runs onto the pitch should be sent to the stand

Must also be said unfortunately a very poor performance by Strand Road who never really looked at the pitch of the game. Stacks had a good system with two banks of defenders across the pitch at either side of midfield which Strand Road struggled badly to get past and get quality ball into the forward line.
The match was dominated by Stacks half forward line to a large extent.

Stacks were full value for the win. Tommy Walsh did really well for St. Rd. while Jack Savage was absolutely anonymous.
Ronan Shanahan, Jack O'Shea, Greg Horan and Star were very effective for Stacks providing a very good spine to a team eho brough more intensity and ingenuity to proceedings. The return of ex-kerry minor, Ferdia O'Brien, to Stacks ranks, also a notable plus for The Rock.

I thought Rahillys were getting on top but BJs red card and the giveaway goal turned the game on its head; Gavin O’Brien was beginning to dominate around the middle, Star was getting no change out of Ross O’Callaghan and Stacks looked like they were running out of ideas - they could breathe easy with the extra man and the goal cushion - the biggest disappointment for me was Jack Savage who looked well off the pace & failed to track his man who probably scored 3 points - Jack brought a good save from the keeper but that was about the sum of his contribution.

Stacks profligacy in the first half, when they left a gimme 1-5 after them, clearly kept St. Rd in the game. It should have been game over at HT. Strand Road rallied well in the second half but they were more braun than brain upfront and deserved what they got - nothing.

I would not have thought that Stacks were profligate in the first half - cannot recall that many wides. The leniency by the ref with the tackling on Tommy Walsh particularly in the first half was kind to Stacks in terms of not conceding scores and picking up cards - Stacks also went about 15 minutes without a score in that time. I thought there was nothing in it until the sending off and the giveaway goal - after the goal, the score was 5 points to 3, with Strand Road down to 14.
