Night as well start a thread for the next game. Arguably a much tougher game and probably not too many changes in personnel. Will Ó Beaglaoich be back I wonder?

So half of yesterdays team pretty much, this makes it extremely difficult next weekend and I would expect there to be multiple changes.

The colleges football at this time of the year will become more of a nuisance now that the u21 has gone to u20 and is moved to a summer slot.

Any of the 19 or so missing for the Donegal game back for the trip to Castlebar?
With the various third-levels games coming up it will be hard to get a good picture of a developing squad over the next few weeks, but more guys will get a chance to impress.
Mayo have a good record over us in the NFL in recent years.

IT Tralee playing in Belfast today. If David Clifford and Gavin Crowley play should they be on the panel making 3 highly competitive games in under a week?

Provided they are 100% fit and not carrying any knocks I would say they should play - we are always being told a competitive game is worth a multitude of traning sessions and we constantly decry the ratio of taining sessions to games. The relavent managements must also work together intelligently in such a situation.

DC has dipped his senior intercounty toes now and doesn't need to start next weekend. This is a crazy time of the year for young players. When are the college competitions finished?

The right thing to do here is rest/manage the players especially those who are playing sigerson again next week. I would make the following changes O beaglaoich for Coffey Jack Barry for barry o Sullivan Daithi Casey for burns Jack savage for Sean o shea Spillane for Clifford We have fewer options at the back

Gavin Crowley also played Sigerson this week, so there could be a lot of changes from last week.

Hard to protect and mind the Sigerson lads with the amount of players unavailable, the management's hand is forced at the moment.

Regardless of what young players are or are not available we need a much better midfield on Sunday. I would like to see, if possible Moran and Maher paired there. They would give a much better platform for the inexperienced players to work from.
UCD are heavy weights in the Sigerson so I expect Jack Barry to be unavailable.

I think Moran is taking most, if not all, of the league off. Not sure about Maher. Away to Mayo will be a tough assignment given the availability of players.

This was the list of absentees posted on the 16th of January.
Short term (2-3 weeks) Tadhg Morley, Fionn, Tom O'Sullivan, Mark Griffin, Adrian Spillane, Kevin McCarthy, Darran, Mikey Geaney, Eanna O'Conchuir & Brian O' Beaglaoich
Medium Term (4-6 weeks) Killian, Crowley, Gavin White, Maher, David Moran, Buckley, Donnchadh Walsh, Conor Geaney & Donaghy.
Since then Eanna O'Conchuir & Brian O'Beaglaoich have finished up with An Ghaeltacht.
Jack Barry was named to start the Donegal game but made no appearance. JamesO came on and went off. None of the other Kerry subs looked to be injuries.
Jason Foley, Andrew Barry, Brian O'Beaglaoich, Sean O'Shea and Killian Spillane all played the full game for UCC against Garda. David Clifford and Gavin Crowley all played the full game for Tralee plus they had a round-trip to Belfast. Both the UCC and Tralee games went all the way to the wire. I assume Ronan Shanahan played the full game for DIT as well today.
I think the only 2 who might come into contention from the 2-3 weeks category are the 2 Ghaeltacht boy. Definitely wouldn't be surprised to see JamesO on the missing list the next day. No idea about Jack Barry and after that it's a case of maybe resting lads who picked up any knocks.
One thing I would like to see the next day is earlier subs - the first 2 subs against Donegal came on in the 48th minute. At this time of year on heavy pitches where lads are only getting back towards full match fitness, I think there is no harm in making switches that bit earlier. Donegal had 4 subs made by the time Kerry made their first (one of these was the enforced keeper change) All 3 of these other Donegal subs were around the middle of the pitch, whereas the Kerry subs were basically a like-for like swap of 2 corner-forwards. I think it was no coincidence that Kerry went out of the game in this patch after half-time where Donegal went from 3 points down to being 4 points up by the 60th minute.

I am sure the sigerson players will be available. It is more what is in the best interest of the player given the schedule.
A lot of these players would have sports scholarships so not unreasonable that the players would want to be committed to the college also.

Can't see that many changes regardless of Sigerson commitments. This is a big test for the new look Kerry.
I would like to see Killian Spillane and Daithi Casey from the start. I have no idea on the wellbeing of Jack Barry but obviously he'd be a most welcome addition to the midfield. I'm sure O Beaglaioch will be mad to get back in the fold too.
Has Denis Daly dropped off the panel? I presumed he was injured but saw he togged for UL the other day. I had heard he was highly rated within the camp.

Jack Barry got an infection following a cut he received whilst training - should be good to go on Sat night - could do worse than pair him with his brother, Andrew in the middle of the pitch! After all, Andrew was preferred to Barry O’Sullivan by last years U-21management team and was Munster U-21 player of the year.

This was the same pattern as the previous match against Donegal- leading in the first half and slumped in the second. In the Mayo match we hadn’t built up a big enough cushion to survive. If we play against Mayo with the attitude we had against Donegal, I’ll be happy even if we lose by a point or two.

We were cruising in the league final last year, the 2011 final, the 2014 final, and so on. We seem to get complacent or not being able to keep playing keep ball and see out games. The very thing we used to accuse Mayo of is now our worst weakness. That and being open when people run at us. Then again Cork have been masters of lateral running and we stopped them easily enough.
