With the GPA safely snuggled into bed with the GAA it now rests with the Club Players Association to try to shake up the nut job GAA calendar. They've had a meeting with the CCCCCCCCCCCCCCC and put forward their proposals. I wish them the best of luck. We'll see what happens. It has occurred to me that we definitely need another association pronto. One to reflect the views and opinions of the poor eejits who work hard to ensure that clubs don't fall apart, line the pitches, scrape together a few bob, attend endless meetings and see to it that the number 15 jersey is hanging up in the right spot etc etc. Who speaks and acts for those performing the innumerable and thankless jobs at every level of club activity. Are their views any less important. Talk about burnout and all thoughts turn to star 19 or 20 year olds....try being a bloody club officer for a few years....I'll give you burnout then. Are club officers so unimportant and irrelevant that nobody is to represent them. There are many gifted and insightful individuals at club level who could contribute greatly to this noble organisation. Will they be heard. Thoughts (and prayers maybe) from other posters on here

I would have said that the club delegates to the county board represent these people...

Thoughts (and prayers maybe) from other posters on here The Club PLAYERS Association is not just intended for players. It would have been more aptly named the Club Persons Association. It was formed to be the 'club person's voice in the GAA'. The CPA was badly needed. Forming another association for club officials would be going into Judean People's Front and People's Front of Judea territory.

And after that we need a left legged players assocication with a social footballers association and another for over 35's to follow - when we add in another few we can form an umbrella association and call it the AGAA - Alternative Gaelic Athletic Associoation. To begin the GAA is supposed to be a democratic members association - if clubs were organised properly and democratically there should be no need for additional interest group focussed associations. Fix the actual problem and let clubs and counties function properly. Basic problem is the association is already working to divergent agendas - money and grassroots. Resolve this first.

Posted somewhat tongue in cheek but at the same time there's a bit of a democratic deficit in the most democratic organisation in the world.
I for one really welcome the CPA's intervention. Like mentioned above it should try to reach out to include all of those involved in club football.
I love the games but the frustration of seeing what's going on especially at elite level is driving me away from it.
We are well served here in Kerry with the county league but I wish we could see county players play a more active part. Some other counties fixtures are a complete joke.
We're had the tail wagging the dog for years now. It's time for a major rebalancing so that the 99% aren't ruled by the 1%.
Apparently the club is the bedrock, foundation, cornerstone etc etc etc blah blah blah of the association.

We are well served here no doubt and the county leagues give plenty of games to players; it's being devalued slowly with the elitism that's crept in and will deteriorate further with the advent of the Super 8 ; next year , again, there will be no county players playing county league - the championship will probably begin in Sept. It's clear now that those staying @ home for the summer will be in the minority as more and more players will head to the US for the summer months - imagine only county league in May, no senior championship until Sept - not much point in playing 4/5 county league games with shadow teams.
