I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently. Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row. I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing, I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook Thirty-Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru. Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello, I was scouted by the Mets, I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge. I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear. I don't perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes. Last summer I toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal-force demonstration. I bat 400. My deft floral arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children trust me. I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy. I once read Paradise Lost, Moby Dick, and David Copperfield in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed several covert operations with the CIA. I sleep once a week; when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid. On weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. I have made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli and a toaster oven. I breed prize-winning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin. I have played Hamlet, I have performed open-heart surgery, and I have spoken with Elvis. But I have not yet played minor for Kerry. See, I would have believed you except for the scoring with chicks off a trombone solo bit. Everyone knows that just doesn't work. Whistled up for over-carrying there, bucko.

There must be a panel announcement coming soon enough, less than two weeks to the first game now, any ideas on what it might look like?

The involvement of up to 12 players from PCD (7), Kenmare (3) and St Brendans (2) has had a big impact on preparations and squads - I know there were games recently against Offaly and Laois but think nothing will be finalised until after weekend when St Brendans play.

2018 Minor campaign gets underway a week tomorrow (11/4) with an away game against Tipp - winners face the winners of Cork and Waterford in a SF (loser gone for the year). Tough looking draw on paper at least.

That panel of 30 will be tough to make, never mind the 24 or 15

Tadgh lynch is no longer a member of the panel he was let go early on in the campaign and David oba and Dylan Callaghan were never members but the rest seem to be accurate who would be the stand out player in your opinion this year na crochaigh? Rumours that Paul of shea is the player to watch it seen him play for the sem earlier on in the year against the green and he was fantastic on the day scoring a handful of goals from full forward

I am surprised David Oba is not there. Good keeper. Cian Ring might be in there he is a solid keeper. David Dineen from Rathmore was very good but his form has dipped the last couple of years. Paul O'Shea is very good. Colin Crowley is very skillful too. There is plenty talent in Kerry at this age group.
Niall McGillicuddy is another good forward. Conor Myers Fergal O'Brien Jack Kennelly Cian O'Connor Gearoid Hassett Killian Murphy Cian O'Grady all good forwrads.
David Costello Adam Curran Sean Hogan Brendan O'Neill Joe Lenihan and Jack Foley other midfielders.
Seamus Lyne Liam Guiney Padraig White Dan McCarthy Enda O'Connor Tommy Cronin James McCarthy David Leane backs who could be there.

Listening to PK this evening on the radio I wouldn't be convinced he is a big fan of this new minor age group lark.

I am always disappointed when Tralee fails to get a player on the Kerry minor team. We need underage football to be strong in the major urban areas.

It may be a sign that its is good team as Quilter really caught the eye for Tralee CBS v PCD

Michael lenihan is another very good player with a bit of size about him and loads of football in him I seen him last year in the minor division one final and he played very well that night even though he was still u16. Very strange to see only 1 player from tralee on the 24 as the last couple of years tralee had 5-6 minors spread out through the club's. Also surprised to see no na gaeil player on the team as they have had a decent production line of players in the previous years gone by I know Devon burns was apart of the panel earlier on but seems to have been let go at some stage

Some surprises. I think Sean Quilter should be on. Mark Cooper and Mike Lenihan on the bench at least. Alan Dineen should be there. Having said that all of them deserves their place. That's a serious forward line. Colin Crowley too surprised hes not there.
I have never seen Kieran O'Donoghue play full back. He's better in the halfback line. It's a strong panel when you consider who is left out. A lot of talent in the county. I would be really surprised if they dont win handy.

Are the two McCarthys from Kenmare brothers ? Dan McCarthy is supposed to be a fine footballer.

I believe Mike Lenihan is carrying an injury, and not making the squad for this reason.

The lack of geographical spread is amazing.
Apart from West Kerry there are only 2 players on the team from a club north of Kilcummin. That includes Tralee and the CBS got to the Munster Final.
This should be checked out. It could be a positive, that there are a lot of good players from a few clubs but it could also be the opposite.

One player from Tralee and no player on the panel from South Kerry shows the demise of football in both places! This is very interesting, you would have to wounder what is happening at grass roots in the development of young players. Is it a lack of coach education at club level or a poor county board structure that does not focuses on player pathways for <12? Saying that there are 16 clubs represented in the minor panel this year. At the end of the day the Management can only have a panel of 24 players, so somebody has to lose out and this is hard on these lads. I can only speak for Tralee i feel that the draw of other sportsin town is something that is having a negative effect. In relation to South Kerry i would presume its the population and you can see this with the amount of amalgamations in South Kerry to field Minor Teams.

What has the average number of Tralee players on the minor panel been over the last thirty years? I never remember there being ten town lads on a panel in the last ten or fifteen years anyway, maybe there was at some stage.

With three schools in the latter ends of All-Ireland championships it was probably difficult to manage selection for this first game. The team will probably evolve over a few games as all players will now be available all the time to PK and co.
