Brolly runs his own circus, always has, always will, no matter what the issue is.
There are many of us in the world outside of GAA employees, ex-players,current and x-pundits, who have genuine concerns about this event and will continue to have them.

Check out Micheal Quirke's article in the Examiner yesterday on the topic. Good article, I like his articles I think he is honest and makes some very valid points in his articles. He also said he didn't buy any of the Kerry lads autobiographies because he knows that the best stories that past players have will not be discussed in the books.

Well written article but in some ways he is just descending to brollys level

For years, Brolly has been on a mission to rubbish Colm and his legacy. Is it some pathological jealousy or what? Bizarre, really. You'd wonder how Gooch can sit next to him on TSG at this stage.

I respect the right of free speech as much as the next man but I wish people would desist from giving the sustenance he craves to the bitter, lonely , publicity crazy Comical Joe.

The paper are worse for printing it. Says a lot about standards across the board. Poor Joe, probably rambling around the house all night sleepless scratching his balls.

I thought it was a joke article when I saw it first. I could not believe an Editor could stamp his/her approval on such snyde insulting childish rubbish.
It is a sad reflection on the paper.
Brolly has seriously overstepped the mark here...more than usual.

Also facts are not important to Mr Brolly.
For example, the fact that Gooch top-scored in the two finals against Tyrone that he supposedly went missing in.

Even those uncomfortable with the testimonial think this article is mean spirited. Also badly written with inconsistencies referring to 1-4 and 1-5 against Mayo. I'm not sure how much money Brolly is getting per article but he's getting so many articles out of Gooch and the testimonial at this stage, it won't be long before he's earned more money from the testimonial than Gooch. Maybe we should start replying to his tweets with links to rival newspaper articles. His Indo paymasters wouldn't be too happy to see his Twitter account benefiting rival newspaper more than their own.

Curiously never mentioned is the completely inappropriate homophobic anecdote by Brolly (humour apparently) when addressing the national coaching conference in Croke Park a few years back. They were part of his opening and went down like a lead balloon. People in the large audience were cringing listening. He carried on without apology until tackled by a lady at the front at the end of his address. He was forced to apologise. Imagine if this had been someone else. He'd have gone to town on it.
This is only one of his many inappropriate and attention seeking utterances. In fairness to him he has occasionally come up with decent discussion points but invariably ruins them with his unfiltered personalised attacks. Playing the man not the ball.
Don't forget this was the same guy touring GAA halls in Ulster in the noughties ridiculing Kerry's inability to beat northern football.
He is a hypocrite who changes position on issues at a whim.

Joe does what Joe does - doling out simple philosophical nuggets to an ungrateful world. But there's a sort of nastiness to Joe that transcends human ego. His latest contribution is an act designed and conscious of its capacity to hurt, insult and ratchet up prejudice against the people of Kerry – which is beyond the pale of acceptable discourse. Anybody talks that much, has got to be bluffing part of the time. Did anyone ever get more mileage out of one Celtic cross?

Have to agree. Brolly, as ever, got too personal and cherry-picked.
If anything he will have increased goodwill to Colm.

An insulting piece not just to Kerry people but also to Mayo and Cork people. The guy deserves no respect from anyone.

Lots of people have genuine reasons to be unhappy about the testimonial but no one wants to be in the same tent as brolly when he behaves so badly.
I think he isnt right in the head to be honest.

are the top brass afraid of pay for the players Does it really matter whether they are or not? How would pay for players be funded? 30 players per panel, 20 back room staff, what would you pay them as a weekly wage? Who exactly would raise the money and make sure it was sustainable for 34 senior teams (including NY and London). Would they be paid for the time they were with their county team and then not paid when the senior League and Championship are over? Would there be a transfer market? Top brass seem happy with the current system with elite players making money and non-elites being second class citizens.

Gooch gets criticized yet our sponsors Allianz insurance now tell people that part of their storm policies are invalid. Where are our pundits on this?

no problem with testiomonial, but it should have be held in killarney with his own people and supporters at a reasonable amount per ticket.who is going to be able to afford tickets only big business and the corporate sector , alot of whoam may not have seen colm play . they s something not right about celebrating colm s footballs achievements wih he s main cast of supporters missing.

This is a private event to raise cash and not really a testimonial... and this is why it isn't necessarily true that this event is taking money from local GAA nor has it really anything to do with the GAA (organisation).
