Minors get to face off for the county title
04/07/2017
19:30 Dr Crokes - vs - Fánaithe na Féile More
19:30 East Kerry Team - vs - St Kieran's Castleisland More
19:30 Kerins O`Rahilly's - vs - Laune Rangers More
19:30 Mid Kerry Board - vs - Daingean Uí Chúis More
19:30 South kerry district Board - vs - Firies GAA More
19:30 West Kerry Board - vs - St Brendan's Board More
05/07/2017
19:30 Kenmare District Board - vs - Austin Stacks More
PS:- never ceases to amaze me how the "open draw" for the minor competition always seems to pit two sides devoid of county minor players in the preliminary game which is invariably played the week before the Munster final.

As far as I know O'Rahilly's beat Shannon Rangers in the preliminary round. I'll be at the Crokes v Feale Rangers game in Lewis Road at 7:30. Feale Rangers will be tough players like Eddie Browne (Listowel Emmets) Darragh Behan (St.Senans), Conor O'Keefe (Finuge), Barry O'Mahony (St.Senans), Conor Kennelly (St.Senans), Sean Keane (Listowel Emmets), Jack McKenna (St.Senans), Sheldon Neill (Listowel Emmets). A nice young u16 prospect is Devan McKenna from Listowel. I hope to see him playing too.
Crokes are having a good year made Division 1 final this year. Vince Cooper and co. doing a good job. Nelu Doherty is a solid Keeper. Mark Fitzgerald, Sean Courtney, Ryan Casey, Sean O'Neill good backs two good u16s who might play Gary O'Connor and Mark Cooper. Midfield probably Mike Potts and Lorcan McMonagle a good pairing. Jack Griffin, James Kelly, Owen Moynihan, Josh Fleming, Roan Delaney, Mark Hartnett and Mike Lenihan gives them a good forward line. Fionnbharr Hickey and Fionn Doherty will be there too.
East Kerry are very strong. Cian Gammell, Niall McCarthy, David Clifford, Mike Devlin, Aaron McCarthy, Barry Keane, Darren Looney, Pa Warren, Brian Friel, Sean O'Leary, Sean Doherty, Chris O'Donoghue, Damien Cronin, good u16 prospect David Dineen.
St.Kierans : Luka Brosnan, Eddie Horan, Sean O'Connell, Kieran Enright, Keelan Brosnan, Pa Moriarty, Shay Walsh, David Shanahan, Adam Donoghue, John Walsh, Sean Horan is a big loss. Good u16 prospect is Paul Walsh from Brosna.
O'Rahilly's: Shane McElligott, Rory O'Connor, Sean Collins, Gearoid Dillane for them and Laune Rangers have Fiachra Clifford, Pa Carey, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Daire Cleary, Darragh O'Connor, 3 good u16 prospects. David Mangan, Shane Doona, and Rowan Moriarty. Padraig Ahern decent Keeper.
Mid Kerry: Ian McGillicuddy, Ciaran Kennedy, Jonathan Kissane, Padraig Coffey, David Leane, Dylan O'Neill, Dara Casey, Alex O'Connor, Conor Sugrue, Oisin O'Connor, Cathal Crosbie.
Dingle will have Eoin Brosnan in goals. Sean Og Moran, Thomas Devane, Seamus Boyle, Conor Flannery in the backs. Mark Ashe and Ruadhain McCarthy in midfield. Davidos Usios , Niall Geaney, Dara Fitzgerald, Luke O'Connell and Dylan Geaney up front.
South Kerry: Mike O'Leary, Muiris Fitzgerald, Jamie O'Sullivan, Jack Curran, the main men for them.
Firies are a decent side this year. Cian O'Callaghan is injured. John O'Rourke, Niall O'Donoghue, Jake Flynn, Evan Cosgrave, Donnacha O'Sullivan, Sean Cooper, Ciaran Flynn, and Liam Brosnan gives them a good chance.
West Kerry: Nathan O Flannura, Gearoid Lyne, William Goodwin, Liam O'Bambaire, Cathal Ferriter, and Franz Sauerland their main men.
Brendans: Sean Donnellan, Fergal Barry, Jason Mortimer, Dara Devine, Diarmuid O'Connor, Ryan O'Neill, Niall O'Mahony, Brian O'Regan, Rory Murphy, Mikey Kelleher, Ryan Ward, Fiachra Ennis, Jack Myers, and Eoin Greaney.
Stacks are strong this year. Robbie Murphy, Dylan Casey, Donagh McMahon, Ciaran O'Reilly, Joe O'Connor, Gearoid Sheehan, Gearoid Fitzgerald and Mike Slattery,
Kenmare will rely on Donal O'Sullivan, Gearoid Fennessy, Tadhg Sugrue, and Daniel Casey.

Dr Crokes - Never Won Fánaithe na Féile - 1983 East Kerry Team - 2016 St Kieran's Castleisland - 2009 Kerins O`Rahilly's - 2006 Laune Rangers - 1995 Mid Kerry Board - 2003 Daingean Uí Chúis - 2015 South kerry district Board - 2005 Firies GAA - Never Won West Kerry Board - 2011 St Brendan's Board - 2012 Kenmare District Board - Never Won ? Austin Stacks - 1980 Shannon Rangers - 1991
I have addded the year this years competitors last won the Minor Championship - startling to think its a competition Crokes have never won as a club (two victories in combination sides that I can see in past 40 odd years. Dingle, Kilcummin and Rahillys are the only club sides to win the competition since 2000.

Easy win for Crokes. Jack Griffin bagged a couple of goals Mark Hartnett got a goal Roan Delaney Mike Potts. Crokes looked good but Feale Rangers were very poor especially at the back. Nelu Doherty was solid in goals. Mark Fitzgerald , Mike Potts, Jack Griffin, Mark Hartnett, Roan Delaney all good for Crokes. Tougher games to come. Great wins also for St.Brendans and St.Kierans.

Strange how the draw works for round 2/3. I'd have thought that round 1 winners should not be drawn against each other eg Firies v St.Brendans, Dingle v Laune Rangers. Also, round 1 winners should be given preference for the 5 byes, as it is, 2 winners of the losers round will get byes to 1/4 finals

Prelim round always manages to pit two sides without Kerry minor players for a game that takes place days before the Munster final. Other teams seem to get a bye in round 2 on a regular basis. Normal logic like rewarding R1 winners by keeping them apart in R3 does not apply either as you mention. Dark arts? ? East Kerry V Austin Stacks looks to be a high stakes game - AS are Div 1 champions and EK are many people favourites (despite their loss in R1). Crokes are all the way through to R4 where at least one other club side will join them as Dingle drew Laune Rangers in R3.

I was of the opinion that Dr. Crokes and Austin Stacks were still waiting to play this final? I think you are right - getting ahead of myself, they topped the table but final to come.

Good win for Kenmare District. Stack - East Kerry game will be worth watching. Mid Kerry should beat South Kerry . Hard to call with Shannon Rangers - Feale Rangers game. Could go either way. West Kerry should beat O'Rahilly's. Dingle should beat Laune Rangers. Firies should beat St.Brendans.

Any reports on last nights games knocking about? Was in Lispole for the West Kerry/Rahillys game - no contest, Rahillys were well beaten, Cathal Ferriter @ full forward and Killian Falvey centre forward pulling the strings - WK dominated from the start aided by the stiff breeze, chalked up a big lead, did not take their foot off the pedal- ran out easy winners, disappointing game.

I was in faranfore last night we played very poor but st brendans are a good side and will take beaten. Down 1.15 to 0.02 maybe 10 min into 2 half and we got a run on them and got 7 points in row and then missed a penalty and few handy frees but all in all better team won. Can't see easthe kerry been stopped when all players available. Only 2 club teams left.

Was at the game between South Kerry and Mid Kerry in Cahersiveen. Mid Kerry had the ball in the net with their first attack, great save by the SK keeper touched a shot on to the post but he couldn't stop the rebound from close range.
South Kerry, with the aid of a slight breeze blowing in to the town goal, dominated the rest of the half to lead 0-10 to 1-2 at the break. Most of the scores coming from the full forward line, where Pearse McGill and especially Jamie O'Sullivan kicked some great scores.
Mid Kerry had wiped out the lead in no time in the 2nd half with a goal and 2 points without reply. The writing was on the wall for South Kerry at that stage, and though they gave it everything they just came up short in the end 0-14 to 3-6.
The difference between the teams was the display of Mid Kerry captain Ciaran Kennedy, who alternated between midfield and the 40 and caused havoc in the SK defence time and again with his runs through the middle. He caught a couple of great balls around the middle of the field as well, and i'd say he had a part to play in all of Mid Kerry's goals.

Mid Kerry v West Kerry called off last night cause west kerry unable to field a team...? Anyone have any light on this.
St Brendans v Dingle Dr Crokes v Kenmare District St Kireans v Feale Rangers MiD/West Kerry v East Kerry
Some good games there hard to call 2 of them but you think East kerry should come through and St brendans will get over Dingle, other 2 games be very competitive.

Any reports on last nights games knocking about? Feale Rangers much the better side against Shannon Rangers. A few Kerry minors on display and players in the underage setups. Shannon Rangers led for 20/25 minutes but Feale Rangers class was evident after that. Winning out 3-15 to 3-7. Feale Rangers missed numerous amounts of goal chances. Feale Rangers had a massive bench which they made use of. Shannon Rangers had only a few subs. Danny Power (Ballydonoghue) and Killian Langan (Tarbert) best for SR both tried hard. Power carried a lot of ball forward for SR.Brendan o Neill(Kerry Dev Squad) (Ballydonoghue) did well and is underage again. Barry Mahony(Kerry Minor Midfield) (St.Senans) caught good ball and used it well for FR however jack behan (Ballydonoghue) did ok him kicking 1/2 points off of Barry. Eddie Brown (Kerry Minor Back)(Listowel) seemed to be switched onto Killian Langan for a man marking job after a few minutes - expected a little more, Langan proved difficult. Conor O Keefe ( Finuge) got on a lot of ball at centre forward for FR. Strong on the ball - hard to disposses. Sean Kean(Kerry U17)(Listowel) won a lot of ball at full forward. Wasn't his best game marking a bigger man but his talent was evident.. Interesting to see if any of these are called into the minor set up in the coming weeks.

St. Kieran's V Feale Rangers in Cordal will be a tough game. Feale Rangers very strong, Eddie Browne Conor O Keeffe, Sean Keane and Barry O Mahony. Kierans will look to Eddie Horan, Sean O Connell, Luka Brosnan and Adam Donoghue. Hard one to Call. St. Brendan's V Dingle. St. Brendans Win. Dr Crokes V Kenmare Crokes too much fire power. Crokes Win Mid Kerry V East Kerry. East Kerry Friel, Gammell and Clifford class side. East Kerry favourites to win the Competition. Great evening of Football ahead.

Was at the Crokes/Kenmare match this evening. Very good performance by Kenmare to go through to the semis. Crokes discipline cost them having a man sent to the line for two yellows towards the end of the first half. This made life difficult for them and Kenmare to their credit made the extra man count. No real stand out individuals but a very solid team performance, they will be hard to beat. The stand out thing for me at this match was the amount of Crokes officials and subs on the line. Their behaviour was shameful towards the officials throughout. The linesman was subject to intimidation from the officials and subs during a number of incidents in the second half in particular. Crokes had one team official sent outside the fence and he stood about 10 yds away from me and continued to roar abuse at the officials for the remainder of the game. I heard one Crokes mentor actually threaten the linesman so he could be in deep water for this if the referee's report has any of this in it. On a number of occasions the vile abuse spued towards the linesman and referee was disgusting. They felt they had a divine right to get every decision from the referee and when they didn't get the call the abuse flowed. I hope the referee is strong in his report, because this for me, spoiled an otherwise enthralling encounter. On the final whistle the Crokes players and subs surrounded the referee and linesman shouting and roaring abuse. On the whole, I felt the referee had a good game from a neutral standpoint. He tried to let the game flow as much as possible and the big decisions he got right through consulting his officials. In a tight game the Kenmare sideline were very controlled and held their heads whereas the Crokes line lost the cool and this ultimately lost them the match.

Went to Cordal tonight to watch st Kireans v Feale Rangers, not a bad game but Kireans on top from start the ref tried to make a game of it to be honest ,2 penalties given , out of the kerry minors Adam Doughue was best Barry mahony and Sean o connell had a great tussel at midfield Eddie horan and Eddie browne likewise. Kireans are a good well drilled side and will be hard to beat but I still can't see past east kerry (is it 12 players invloved with kerry minors and U17 ).
