UCC(K) were in action in the Cork County championship last night and won UCC 3-18 Avondhu 1-12 Brian O'Beaglaoich's goal was meant to be absolute class and Jordan Kiely's 2nd was meant to be pretty tasty as well. As is usual, a fairly strong selection of Kerry lads lining out for UCC. There's a report at the link below Avondhu: is made up of the following clubs Premier Intermediate - Fermoy and Mallow Intermediate - Glanworth, Kildorrery and Mitchelstown Junior - Araglin, Ballyhooley, Ballyclough, Ballygiblin, Ballyhea, Buttevant, Castletownroche, Charleville, Churchtown, Doneraile, Grange, Killavullen, Kilshannig, Kilworth, Liscarroll, Milford, Newtownshandrum and Shanballymore rss.precise-media.co.uk/email/158289/359555630.pdf

Hope so. I would like to see this man on the senior team. There is Padraig de Bruin from Firies listed as full forward. There was a Padraig de Bruin from Firies playing at full forward for the Limerick juniors las Sunday . If it is the same man how come he is playing for the Limerick? Anybody know anything about him?

That's a huge regional area Avondhu have with 23 clubs. Including Mallow which is bigger than Killarney. Maybe some are hurling only like Newtownshandrum. What is the biggest regional team in Kerry in terms of number of clubs? Maybe Easy Kerry with about 8?

Three of these- Brosna, Knocknagoshel and Castleisland- do not play for the North Kerry teams in the county championship.

Same fella. Was playing with the Limerick U21 team as well. I just assumed he was living/working in Limerick

Ballyhea would have hurling too. Jason Sherlocks mother was from there and he spent his summers playing hurling and football there.
By any standards its a huge divisional side, bigger pick that Clare probably. Ben and Jerry OConnor hailed from newtownshandrum

Avondhu would traditionally be a stronger hurling area than football - Clyda Rovers is the only senior club in the division and the problem for Cork is that large urban areas like Fermoy, Mallow & Mitchelstown are playing premier intermediate/intermediate- at one time all three would have been senior football but Mallow were probably the last to have senior status in the 90s. There are numerous clubs though but many are in the same parish - Ballyhooly & Castletownroche, Grange is part of Fermoy, Ballygiblin in the parish of Mitchelstown, Araglin & Killworth too is one parish - economically over the past number of years the likes of Dairygold, Teagasc in Moorepark, Galtee Meats would have provided much employment which meant clubs lost little or no players. Finally, the infrastructure is a huge help as guys working in Dublin could be home in about 2 hours.

Did Annascaul not beat them in the Munster Intermediate final circa 2006/07?

I'm still reminding them of that win by Annascaul. Afraid Mallow are missing hearts and guts.....never had it. Wonderful facilities but too much politics going on. One could do all the training sessions but Joe Soap would turn up on match day and get straight on the team. Bit of who you know, who you are counts.

Surprising that O'Beaglaoich was cleared to play by Kerry management
