1976 revisited.... A draw the first day at ten points each and a crazy replay going to extra time. Kerry held Cork away from Croker for a years after that day.
Very enticing prospect now. A Corkman worth his salt will give his all in this game.

The Parc isn't ready, lads anyone looking for hotels get on it now, some great offers as prices don't reflect the game.

Hurling Munster Final won't be on there either. Bit of a disaster for the CCB and the grand reopening. Between them and Sisk someone has questions to answer. Can't beat Killarney on a sunny day though.

www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/cork-county-board-confirm-pairc-ui-chaoimh-will-not-be-available-for-munster-sfc-final-793200.htmlThe Cork County Board has confirmed that the new Páirc Uí Chaoimh will not be available for the Munster SFC final on July 2 – and the hurling decider a week later may not be held there either. Both Cork and Kerry won their semi-finals at the weekend to set up a final meeting, which had been scheduled to be held in the new stadium, however works will not be completed in time for this game to be the opener. The Board said today: "There are still some commissioning works to be completed and these will be finished by July 7." June 18 had been designated as the date for the handover of the premises to the Cork County Board. The Munster hurling final is on July 9 and at the last Board meeting, secretary Frank Murphy had confirmed that, of the four possible final pairing at the time, only Cork v Limerick would not be held in the Páirc. With Limerick having lost to Clare, the Munster Council had determined that Cork v Clare or Clare v Waterford would take place in Cork, but that will now not be the case. It appears that an All-Ireland hurling quarter-final will instead provide the opening match. Cork County chairman Ger Lane said: “Clearly we are disappointed but we want everything to be pristine before the stadium hosts its first major games. "We want to be certain that all the expectations for this tremendous new facility will be fully met and we are satisfied that this will be the case by mid July.” The stadium is the final stages of a €60m revamp.

Frank is planning on lodging an appeal.......... Frank is losing his touch, he failed to win in the appeal to get Alan O'Connor off a suspension from his red card against Waterford. It was the first Cork GAA suspension that got upheld since 1910 when he failed to get the Bould Thady Quill off a suspension for slashing a Tipperary hurler's jugular with a porter glass he had sneaked onto the field. Although he did get it reduced from 12 months to two weeks.

I hear Dublin County Board and AIGs crack team of lawyers have contracted Frank for the Diarmuid Connolly appeal at a cost of €2k per hour so perhaps his mind was on other matters.

The Kerry Co Board should make a case for the Hurling Final too if it's Clare v Cork!

As far as I'm aware, the Kerry Co Board previously stated that if the new stadium was not ready in time for this Summer they would not be granting Cork another return match. Whether this was agreed with Cork Co Board or not though is another thing.

Kerry will have to be at their very best to win this one, look at what happened to Mayo and Kilkenny in hurling. Cork looked very impressive and physical in the 2nd half against Tipperary, they are on an upward curve. We were nearly caught out in 2015 and Cork should have beaten Donegal last year in Croker but were too late in making a few switches.

Maybe Cork get the first Super 8 game they play against each other.

You obviously haven't seen too many Cork games this year then - Kerry by at least 7+ points

This is not arrogance but I just don't agree with you. Cork are abysmal and only for Quinlivan going off on Sat it would be Thurles we would be visiting. I expect Kerry to win this comfortably.

Kerry can be about 65%-70% and still beat Cork. But I'd expect Kerry to be better than that.

I know Cork improved in the second half when they threw off the shackles. But I thought TIPP looked quite poor throughout. They certainly didnt look like an All Irekand semi final team.

Closer to some of them than to some parts of Kerry in fact. Don't think they'd want to travel to Limerick.

They only had 9 players starting from the side that beat Cork last year. For a side whose squad depth drops off significantly as you go down the squad numbers that is a huge chunk. Tipp were definitely a good way off their best on the night as well - at one stage in the first half they dropped three shots in a row into the Cork keeper's hands, they lost their top scorer, gave away an incredibly naive goal and still Cork barely got over the line.

Looking ahead to the game, I expect changes from the starting XV from Ennis; think we have to restore Kealy to net minding duties, again Kelly does not inspire - one high ball in the first half and this was duly batted away, no intention of catching it, second half allowing a ball slip through his fingers for a 45 - Killian will have to come back for Fionn; half back line one of the best around, midfield should see David Moran start possibly along with Jack Barry - 50/50 call with Maher. The make up of the forwards is the most problematic with Donncha, Jameso & Paul nailed on - after that we will have to pick 3 from the following - Mikey Geaney, Savage, O'Brien, Kevin McCarthy, Star, Buckley, Darran - depends which type of game we are going to play - my 3 would be: O'Brien @ 10, Jack Savage @ 11 plus Star on the edge of the square- think he could do a lot of damage in there. Interesting few weeks ahead!

Totally agree! Cork may seem uncertain about what they're at but make no mistake there is plenty football talent within Cork. I saw a lot of pace in that Cork team, especially in the second half, and have we ever been comfortable when sides run at us? Somebody commented they would be more worried about Clare but I just wonder, can such a statement be really serious? There is no comparison between the level of footballing talent Cork have and Clare. Sure Clare might be tighter and more organised at the moment but Cork have a lot more talent at their disposal. What worries me is some Kerry folk seem to think all we need to do now is show up but you telling me in a scenario where we cough up a couple of goals and Cork are fired up that all bets wouldn't be off! As we've seen down through the years any thing can happen in a Cork vs Kerry game and hot favourites have often been beaten both ways. Longterm, it is perhaps time for Cork to go for their first outside manager since Tompkins, perhaps in due course Liam Kearns wouldn't mind getting his hands on the Cork project. Like a cup game, a Munster final is a one off and it's all on the day. Loose talk and over confidence are huge enemies to Kerry facing this fixture and we need to be mentally prepared for a huge battle.

Clare beat Cork 2-11 to 0-09 in the league without Gary Brennan and on a scoreline that flattered Cork as Clare should have had at least 3 more goals.
