Is the Kerryman 1997 supplement this week any good? Make sure it lists all it ingredients , 😉 Touché! It is of course a newspaper supplement to which I refer. Although both definitions are correct, as indicated in the Oxford Dictionary on my desk here....

To answer my own question, that was quite a good read. Although I am completely mystified as to where those 20 years went.
I remember well looking at my watch that day when Ciaran McDonald scored the penalty and thinking I wouldn't be able to last until 5pm. It was the longest 2nd half of any All Ireland I ever attended (including those we lost).

It is valid to ask if Donal Ogs short puck outs in the 00s were the prelude to Cluxtons mastery of the restart?

Any views on this ? How small is a small bag , is it like the ones that children get for CÚl Camps ?
GAA fans will no longer be able to bring rucksacks into GAA headquarters and are urged not to bring bags 'where possible' to Croke Park.
The move follows a similar directive at the Aviva Stadium where a 'no bag' policy is in operation operation since the recent international friendly against Uruguay and the 1-1 draw with Austria.
A statement released by the GAA today read: "Following a review of safety procedures with the relevant statutory authorities, Croke Park can confirm that as of Sunday, 25 June 2017, patrons will not be permitted to take large bags and backpacks into the stadium for all match day and concert events.
"Smaller bags will be permitted but may be subject to searches and patrons are urged not to bring bags at all where possible. We would like to thank our patrons in advance for their cooperation with this matter as we look forward to a fantastic season of concerts and matches in Croke Park over the coming months.

there is a link which says a bag no bigger than A4 size. I'm a steward and usually carry a Cul Camp bag with lunch, raingear, extra layers, various female bits n bobs and of course the suncream for the odd good day. There's no way I'd even fit a jacket in an A4 sized bag. I will probably bring some sort of transparent bag carrying my lunch & cut down on the rest. I understand the reasons for the move and it will be an inconvenience but in the interest of the greater good I'm sure I'll manage. I see that bags are to be searched at the Munster Final also so I'm sure it wont be long til it spreads to all GAA grounds. I saw a very cynical comment on another forum which said the GAA were doing it to "make" people buy food and drink there and cut out the flask & sandwich brigade. This move will no doubt cost them a lot of money in extra security staff so I'm not buying into that. I do have sympathy for families travelling as it is a very costly day out so if each child was to wear a small backpack with an individual lunch they'd probably be fine.

It is valid to ask if Donal Ogs short puck outs in the 00s were the prelude to Cluxtons mastery of the restart? That's a thought. I remember clearly in the mid-00s Cluxton was often hitting Shane Ryan wide on the run because Ryan was not a high fielder. It was clearly a tactic and Ryan was selected for the role, at least partly because there wasn't a better option to put alongside Whelan

There will always be cynical comments but any sane person will see we live in crazy times where large gatherings can be targeted by fanatics. Precautions must be taken - too late if something happens. This is the price we all pay for modern day fanaticism.

A few of the people on here who constantly moan about the state of Gaelic football and hark back to the days of catch and kick should maybe read Mike Quirkes latest piece: www.irishexaminer.com/sport/columnists/mike-quirke/football-is-evolving--not-dying-452859.htmlPS - Eir sports have classic GAA games on a few nights a week at the moment. On Monday they showed the full game between Clare and Kerry in 92. It was fairly bad stuff. Drop kicks over the line, wildly pulling on the ball, 50 yard kicks to nowhere. And that was from the winning team! PPS - Ambrose and Billy can never criticise anybody again on Radio Kerry after watching that game. BIlly especially cannot give out about a player pulling out of shoulder. And Ambrose touched the ball twice in the 25 minutes he was on!

Can someone tell me the date the minor championship start back? Presume you mean intercounty - for Kerry it is the Munster final on July 2nd when they play the curtain raiser to the senior Munster Final against Clare who they beat in the first round. Some provinces only starting minor competition but Munster is down to two.

Feale Rangers beat Shannon Rangers in the 1971 county minor football final. Feale Rangers scored 2.11. One lad scored 1.07 of the 2.11 scored by Feale Rangers.
Who is he?

Dave Barry?

I suspect you are correct, unless the question refers to the Champions League proper (i.e. group stage & beyond). Barry was credited with a goal against Galatasaray in a Champions League qualifying round in the early 90's. It gave Cork City a lifeline for the return leg in Bishopstown as they took a 2-1 defeat away from Turkey. Unfortunately after missing a host of chances they went down 1-0 in the home leg and 3-1 on aggregate. The Turks knocked Manchester United out as well in the next round when they displayed their infamous 'Welcome to Hell' banners. In truth, Barry's goal was clearly an own goal. God knows how he was credited with it really. It can be seen below at 4:14.

Jeez Delorean, there's no flies on you!! I was going to ask who scored against Bayern Munich but I think a lot more people might have known that one. Dave survived the long lean years to get 2 All Ireland medals. His Cork City career as player and later manager wasn't too bad either.
