I see that the reserve keeps on the junior team has quit the panel . Very strange that you would walk away when a possible All-Ireland medal is only a couple of weeks away. I wonder how Dublin keep their reserve keepers happy. Happened with this panel last year too. Anyway I imagine he wasn't happy being named captain of the panel but then not getting a game in the last two matches.

Conor Cox shines as Kerry junior footballers capture three-in-a-row
Saturday, August 05, 2017 - 04:37 pm Kerry 2-19 Meath 1-14
A tour-de-force performance from Conor Cox steered Kerry to a third consecutive All-Ireland JFC title at O’Moore Park this afternoon, writes Eoghan Cormican.
The Listowel Emmets man, who was part of the 2015 winning side, finished with 1-5 from play, and he was a large contributor in Kerry’s third-quarter surge which killed off the Meath challenge.
Kerry led by 1-8 to 0-7 at the break, the key score being the 14th minute goal gifted to Cox.
Meath goalkeeper Johnny Lynch kicked possession straight to the full-forward and he made no mistake from close range.
The opening major propelled the Kingdom into a 1-5 to 0-3 lead and while Cox and Meath’s Ben Brennan subsequently exchanged minors, the Royals landed the next three scores to bring it back to a two-point ball game, 1-6 to 0-7.
The winners finished the half stronger, however, with Philip O’Connor and Cox splitting the posts.
A pair of points from Cox stretched their lead to six shortly after the resumption and although Meath replied, Tomas Ó Sé's fisted goal on 43 minutes established considerable daylight between the sides. Indeed, with three of the next four scores going Kerry’s way, the scoreboard had them 2-15 to 0-10 in front on 48 minutes.
The losers did string four points in-a-row, thereafter and also managed an injury-time goal through Seán Reilly, but it was largely inconsequential.
They were left to rue the two goals chances they had in the first-half, Pa Kilkenny and goalkeeper Tomás Mac an tSaoir repelling the respective efforts.
The latter also made two important second-half saves.
Kerry, who finished with 14 men following a straight red card shown to Eanna Ó Conchúir, move ahead of Cork on the roll of honour with 18 titles.
Scorers for Kerry: C Cox (1-8, 0-3 frees); T Ó Sé (1-3); K Spillane, P O’Connor (0-3 each); E Ó Conchúir, I Parker (0-1 each).
Scorers for Meath: B Brennan (0-6, 0-2 ‘45s, 0-1 free); J Conlon (0-4); S Reilly (1-0); K Ross, D Rowe, D Healy, W Carry (0-1 each).

Kerry 2-19 Meath 1-14 HT 1-8 0-7
It has been a while since I have been to O'Moore Park but yesterday's menu was too enticing to spend at home sulking about the Sky deal. It is a beautiful venue, the day was perfect and it was heartening to witness a fine, vocal Kerry support present. They were well rewarded with two victories.
Pa Kilkenny set the tempo from the throw in scampering up the field to score a fine point from CHB. A couple more were flighted over and it looked that Meath would be over run. Ultimately, I suppose they were but they stubbornly refused to lie down and eventually found their bearings. However, as they started to stretch their legs they took one to the solar plexus. A poor kick out went straight to Conor Cox. Refusing to look a gift horse in the mouth, Conor gathered and gleefully struck it home. As stated , Meath did not raise the white flag and were within four points at the break but that goal always kept vital space between themselves and Kerry. They came close to goaling on two occasions, Pa Kilkenny coming in the way once and Tomas in goals saving smartly another time. Indeed Tomas made too good saves as well in the second half.
It was fairly even for a while in the second half but halfway through that period the stake was driven through the Meath heart. Fittingly, two of Kerry's best were the partners in crime, Philip O'Connor and Tomas O'Se. Philip wielded the stake and Tomas drove it home; Philip floated in a beautiful ball from about forty yards near the stand side and Tomas, gazelle like, rose high to punch home. That was the death knell. Some consolation scores were accrued by a game Meath side and indeed got a late goal courtesy of a deflection. They deserved whatever came their way but overall were outclassed and the final soore is not false.
After a shaky enough first half our full back line tightened considerably in the second half. Pa Kilkenny was very prominent early on, less so as the game advanced. Daniel O'Brien was consistent all through.
Riobaird O'Se caught some great balls at midfield where Brendan O'Sullivan provided the energy.
Philip kicked three great points. Everything this man does has a touch of class. Jeff O'Donoghue has had more productive days. On the left wing , Eanna was one of our stars. Endless energy, well able to burst pass a tackle and great hands. I would like to see this man get a run in the NFL. He got a red card towards the end which was an abomination in my view. He was being pulled and dragged off the ball and swung back but failed to connect. Play went on and during the next break the linesman summoned the referee and the card was brandished. The man who did the pulling and dragging spend his afternoon doing only that on various players. My big regret about the incident is that Eanna failed to connect.
Killian Spillane kicked three points but in my view played too far out form goals. I always come away feeling Killian could achieve more but of course he is still only a garsun. Conor Cox had one of his dream days, as if he was playing for Listowel in the local sportsfield. He scored 1-5 from play and three from frees. One could say he paid his way! On the other corner is one of my favourite Kerry players, Tomas O'Se. This man is a delight. There were times in the first half when things were not falling his way but he just keeps the head up waiting for the next ball. He keeps showing, is a jinking ball of lightning and as fearless as a Tasmanian devil. He scored 1-2, one of his points in the second half was a gem. I have no doubt this man will be in the senior panel for 2018.

James Walsh should not be left play with Kerry Juniors or with St. Kierans when he refuses to play for his club. He has not played for Knocknagoshel since June 2016.

I dont know the man but, if it's what he wants to do then if the management think he should be on the team then fair enough. I suppose at least it shows management have a free hand when getting the best players on the pitch. Plenty of other transfer have gone through during the years that people would be dubious about. Especially in the kilarney area

Got to do with a parish problem more than anything else and two clubs in the area which was subsequently sorted when both joined together.

Basically Mickey Harte had a row with the club over some tournament game. Mickey went into "no surrender , I have my principles" mode and the club got split. I think they had to rename the club Errigial Chiaran when twas patched up. Canavan didnt play any under age club football as far as i know

Looks like James had a falling out with his own club,Now im not sure of the circumstances but i'd imagine it has alot to do with the lack of ambition by the club and players,Knock routinely finish in the bottom end of Div 5 and that must be frustrating for a player who has played an awful lot of football at a higher standard. In fairness to James he has given an awful lot to Knock and i for one have no problem with him leaving his native club for pastures new,The problem i have though is,If he is now living in the Tralee area it should be a lottery between KOR,Stacks,Mitchels and Na Gaeil to see where he plays his football,The same should of happened with Shane Murphy & Alan O Sullivan with the Crokes.

Congrats to the Juniors, three in a row is a fine achievement and a great endorsement of junior and intermediate football within the county to back up the success in the All-Ireland club championships in those grades.

The success of Kerry teams at most grades in recent years is fantastic - the U21 grade is the only serious blip in the landscape and it is a worry given its role in transitioning players from underage to senior. With 3 minor winning teams feeding into this years side their elimination to Galway is all the more disppointing.
