Ivan Parker kicked a coupke of class pointd immediately after coming in. Could have had a goal or two also. Yup really turned in an I want to be upgraded to a starter performance - the only question mark is that Limerick looked dead and buried by the time he came on. Still a good problem for the selectors to be having.

of the players on the extended senior panel why was Brendan o Sullivan the only one playing? sean o shea, gavin Crowley and denis daly all could have played. would have serious panel for munster final. maybe sean o shea at 19 is getting enough football, but what a talent.

Still a good problem for the selectors to be having. I have only seen Ivan on a couple of occasions but any time I saw him I was hugely impressed . He made a huge impact yesterday when he came on vutmof course the opposition was very feeble. He very fast and accurate and oozes skill. He also has those strong thighs which stood the likes of Declan and and John Egan in good stead. I wonder is he part of a development squad? Should be . That is a very impressive junior outfit from midfield up. I was less impressed with the backs.

I wonder were they given the option of playing for the Juniors or for their clubs on the Saturday evening. I know that Gavin played for Templenoe on Saturday evening.

I know someone mentioned that there were some more older on the team but this bit was mentioned on the official site
Also there are 5 players on the starting 15 who have won All Ireland Minor medals during the last three years.
I was talking to a Corkman who was at both the Cork game against Waterford and he was saying that the junior side looked way more of a settled team compared to the seniors, which as he pointed was a fairly damming indictment of the senior management given this was the Cork juniors first competitive game, even given the fact that the Waterford junior team wasn't up to much. He was fairly scathing about the Cork senior management and he was wondering if there were pulling names out of a hat they team they selected to start. He said it was impossible to try and predict what sort of team the Cork seniors will have for the Munster final.

Kerry came from 9 points down at one stage in the 2nd half to take it to extra-time.
Kerry scored 2-7 in extra-time to win the game.
Good one to win.
FT Kerry 4-24 Cork 3-20

Tomás Ó Sé scored 2-4 from play. I presume he wasn't available for the u21s. Philip O'Connor scored 2-3. Both worth call ups to the senior squad?

Some outstanding high fielding in the game tonight by the 4 midfielders in fairness, cracking game of football and great comeback from 9 points down with some excellent scores to peg cork back

Good win but it could have gone Corks way too. We were going nicely for the first 15 minutes playing nice football but then Cork took over completely at midfield and as a result our full back line were taken to the cleaners for the rest of the half. Cork kicked 1 9 to Kerrys 3 points in that 2nd quarter. They had 4 great goal chances too, Mac an tSaoir made 2 great saves , they hit the cross bar once and goaled the fourth. 1 11 to 9 posts at half time.. Start of 2nd half Cork corner forward Buckley goaled and they followed with a quick pt. Thought the show was over. Liam Carey came and made a difference straight away winning possession and kicking points. Brendan Sullivan got more involved and Rob o Se continued to field high balls. Pts and goals arrived and we went two pts up but Cork came back to equalise on the stroke of full time. Into extra time still anyone's game but in a minute and half Philip o Connor and Tomas o Se ( our lovely dancer) scored a goal each ......game over. Our full backline needs to smarter up and James Walsh also. Beautiful fielding by O Se and Corks o Toole. Brendan came into it more in the 2nd half and was a tower of strength in extra time. We can thank Tomas o Se ( lightening fast) and Philip o Connor for this win. Liam Carey was excellent when he came on.
This game had everything. High fielding, a lot of marks, great scores taken, great saves, bad misses, great running off the ball. Not a blanket in sight. 4 24 to 3 20 . Ciarrai Abu.

Leitrim in the semi-final on the 22nd of July. Leitrim beat both Galway and Mayo to win Connaught so should be decent enough.
The other semi is Meath v Britain.
Final down for 5th of August.

High fielding, a lot of marks, great scores taken, great saves, bad misses, great running off the ball. Not a blanket in sight. 4 24 to 3 20 . Ciarrai Abu. A fairly accurate analysis of the game there. The game had everything, Cork did have a couple of great goal chances but didn't take them, having said that Kerry kicked some awful wides. Rob Se was outstanding in the middle, it took a long time for the forwards to start causing damage but when they did, they did it in style. Liam Carey made an instant impact. Jeff O Donoghue was probably unlucky to be replaced as any one of the forwards could have been taken off at the time. We were under severe pressure in the full back line but to be fair to them a lot of that pressure was due to the large amount of space in front of them for the most of the first half. I was surprised management never made a change in the full back line though, as Cork corner forward Anthony O Connor finished with 11 points (5 from play). Our only option on the bench for the full back line was Dj Murphy and he wasn't introduced until late on. Massive come back all the same for Kerry and should drive them on to win it out now.

Very entertaining match. Liam Carey is a very underrated player. Thought he would walk on the u21s this year. Always plays well for Mid Kerry when I watch them. Great comeback. Tomás Mac an tSaoir played well. Tomas Ó Sé was excellent. Philip O’Connor and Roibéard Ó Sé also. Daniel O’Brien was probably the best of the backs. The worrying thing was Kerry were very slow to get going and very rusty in the first half. Some of the kicking and passing was poor. That will have to improve a lot if they want to win it out.

Thanks for informative report DDTIN EXILE. I saw the Clare match and I was impressed from midfield up but not with defence. It would seem that was borne out last night.
I was talking to a man today and he said defending for both sides appeared to be an optional extra. He was very critical of management , being very slow to rearrange the defence.
On the basis of comortas na people, the Clare match and last night's match it is very surprising that Riobaird O'Se and Tomas O'Se were not first choice players on the u21 team. Water under the bridge now I suppose.

O'Sé was in the panel in the early part of the year but was left go when the panel was trimmed. Now that is surprising especially seeing what happened with Tommy Walsh. Tomas O'Se has played next to zero football in the last two years and at least six months of regular club football should be needed to do himself justice. Luckily his confidence does not seem to be affected.

Just thinking that Roibeard O'Se and Killian Spillane would be very welcome in the senior panel. Both are very talented and play in positions the seniors seem a bit lacking in ( P.G, JOD and BJK being the only out and out inside scoring forwards and D.M, A.M and J.B being the only midfielders as I think Sheehan and Buckley are better in the half forward line.

Well spotted - had a look at this and by my count 8 of the Leitrim Junior Panel that won Connacht are now ineligible because they got playing time with the seniors since.

I know nothing about the Leitrim team but I would struggle to contemplate how this game should be any way close.

The small counties that lose their two championship games like Leitrim, Fermanagh etc could benefit from playing in this competition. It would do Kerry juniors good too to play slightly better opposition
