Kerry Juniors 2015 - Team that played in the final.
Shane Murphy Kilcummin Dan O'Donoghue Spa Jack McGuire Listowel Emmets David Culhane Ballylongford James Walsh Knocknagoshel Tadgh Morley Templenoe Gavin Crowley Templenoe Brendan O'Sullivan Valentia Liam Kearney Spa Brian Crowley Templenoe Killian Spillane Templenoe Philip O'Connor Cordal Thomas Hickey Castleisland Desmonds Conor Cox Listowel Emmets Alan O'Donoghue John Mitchels
Subs: 1. Bryan Sugrue for Jack McGuire 2. Eamon Kiely for Liam Kearney 3. David Griffin for Brian Crowley 4. Gary O'Sullivan for Killian Spillane 5. Michael Brennan for Gary O'Sullivan 6. Jeff O'Donoghue (0-1) for Conor Cox
By my count 9 from the starting 15 have lined out with the seniors at some point. Plus there's a couple more there who you wouldn't bet against getting a chance in the future. Hopefully Kerry continue to use the Juniors as successfully as they have been doing the last while.

What players impressed over the weekends games that would be worthy of a chance with the Juniors this year?

Any idea of a squad for Clare game? Presume those with the Juniors won't be able to play co league the weekend? That's the way it's been for the last few years with it I think...Clare up there might be tricky enough - Limerick should have beaten the Kerry juniors last year from memory

Tomas O' Shea the dancer from the Ghaeltacht was called in as far as I know, suppose to be flying. He scored a cracker at the wkend in the Comortas.

I think the forward line is very strong with the likes of Evan Cronin, Jeff Donoghue, Conor Cox, Killian Spillane, Ivan Parker.

We were very fortunate (even lucky) to overcome Limerick in Killarney last year - brand new team for us this year that has only come together recently. Not sure if Limerick have prepared well - if they have it could be a tough one for us.

That team would compete well with a lot of senior intercounty teams.
Serious players peppered throughout.

Is it correct to say that having just eight senior club teams increases the chances of the kerry junior team

Maybe so, but other counties can pick from anyone outside the senior intercounty team. So I'm sure there juniors are made up mostly from senior club players.

Lets say clare have 16 senior clubs....are players from those 16 clubs not eligible to play with clare junior team. Do the same rules not apply to all counties in this competition

No. I think that in Kerry,Cork, Dublin, Mayo, and Galway any player who has played for his senior club (as opposed to a divisional team)in the previous year's senior county championship is not eligible. Other counties can select any player from a senior club, once he isn't on the county senior panel.

I know. They pulled out around a decade ago,2010 I think, and if I remember right (never guaranteed), this rule was one of the reasons cited. They won one a few years before that, and I think something like 8 of that team went on to win senior All Irelands. Both Cork and Kerry have had a good few players go on from winning junior to win senior medals, Dara O Cinneide, Donal Daly, and Donncha O'Connor definitely but there are many more. Ulster had stopped entering junior teams back then (rule was mid seventies, I think), which is why no Ulster county falls under that rule. Without taking away from either Sean Moynihan or Stephen Wallace, both of whom implemented the idea of using it as a development panel (something I believe will be even more important in future as minor drops to U17, it was Cavan who first used it; the success of their junior teams was a key factor in them winning four Ulster U21s in a row.

I'd imagine the main reason that Dublin dont enter is because they have something like 32 senior teams- some who are very poor- and essentially nearly everything below senior level in Dublin is dirt.
The relatively seamless ability of players to transfer clubs in the capital would be a big factor here too

Limerick were dire. Philip O'Connor, Jeff O'Donoghue, Conor Cox, Pa Kilkenny were best for Kerry. Brendan O'Sullivan kicked 2 nice points.

So a Munster final against Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn on June 27th is the reward for beating Limerick.
