We need Barry to start or to come in at a given time when some other attacking player has his money spent under tactical advisement before the ball is thrown in. To me Fenton is simply a classy act and we need someone to give him plenty to think about.
Yesterday was like finding a rusty jemmy bar and forcing open the seized back doors of the shed in the knackers yard, the air was again a pleasure to breath and the sun kissed grass of the stadium was the canvas for the artistry of a great tradition. I know we conceded a few too many frees and got sloppy on few occasions but that first half was like getting a great long term forecast and I loved it, it was very comforting to see that there is still plenty of gold in this ground. I thought Tyrone suffered a few shocking decisions from Duffy yesterday, if it had been a closer game there would have been was simple as.
We may not turn the Dubs over on Sunday but we will learn something and we are not too far off them as it stands, Gavin doesn't give a * about other teams in my opinion but he knows that Kerry have the guile and belief to turn them over but they are one hard nut to crack..

Is it safe to come back onto the forum again. Have the angry mobs moved on and the dark clouds of doom lifted.

That was a very good performance on Sunday...from start to finish to be fair. Yes, there were errors made and further improvements are always possible but for me at least, there was a discernible pattern of play and excellent decision making...on both counts we have been lacking for much if the league with the very honourable exception of the Donegal match.
I'm not too sure if there's many listen/take any notice of Terrace Talk any more and I have to admit that listening to Patsy O'Connell does nothing positive for my blood pressure usually. In a way, I understand his frustration with Kerry playing keep ball ( and unlike Patsys assertion on Monday evening, this team can do it), his alternatives of kick it in high or break 'the' tackle ( when Tyrone had 14 men in their own half, I'm not sure what breaking 'THE' tackle means. The reality it appears to me was that Tyrone opted to go ultra-defensive in the second half and we dealt with it by holding on to possession and drawing fouls. We were I think 9 pts up at half time.so it was up to Tyrone to come and win the game/get scores. Sitting back and waiting for us to get swallowed up in tackles or kick possession away towards an over-marked inside forward was what they wanted. We didn't play into their hands and should be commended for that presence of mind, reading of the game etc. I appreciate that it appears Patsy was in the stand and I was in the terrace but I didn't notice too much grumbling from the crowd as Kerry went back and forth across the pitch. I'd like to think that is because most people could see what the team was dealing with on the field but I don't know but good to see the crowd not getting on the players backs at any rate.
There was a lot to be happy about leaving Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday afternoon....infinitely more than upon exiting Breffni Park the previous Sunday. As someone else mentioned, the underlying trend is a positive one.
Next Sunday will be another step on the learning curve whatever comes. A lot of new players introduced in this league and more to be added to the panel when the U21 championship ends. I didn't expect to be in a league final this year and in truth it wasn't entirely in our own hands at the end but we're there on merit and hopefully now will grab the opportunity.
All in all, it was a brilliant week for Kerry football! Congrats to the U21s and St.Brendans also. Let's keep the good times rolling!

Now I didnt subject myself to Terrace Talk but I did hear a few grumbles around me in the terrace and could hear the stand getting a bit agitated when Kerry kept the ball after Tyrone had gone into their 1-13-1 formation in the 2nd half. In the first half Tyrone generally had one sweeper and Kerry were able to find their forwards with kick passes into space. This was impossible at the start of the 2nd half - the 'Will Ye Kick It In' brigade must not have been able to see the 13 white Tyrone jerseys inside Kerrys 65 (maybe its like the white numbers on the Kerry jerseys, people just couldnt see them?). Also, I thought Kerry ran hard at Tyrone very well at stages in the first half when it was on. Made plenty of ground, allowing support play and a good few scores came from it. Then David Moran and Kevin McCarthy got caught for over-carrying and all I heard was 'ah lads ye are taking way too much out of the ball'. Probably the same people giving out about Kerry playing it across the pitch. Animals indeed.
