We have had more soft muscle injuries in the last 3 months that the previous 3 years put together.

Now there's a name. Culhane from Bally. Where is he ? America? Thought he'd have got a run by now.
Maguire from listowe. Another man I thought would be competing for a back position.

Maybe we're not that good! I cant think of too many of our players who are the envy of other top teams- Moran & Geaney probably- JOD if he was fit but cant think of anyone else Kerry had more than enough players to beat Managhan at home and Cavan away. Nine points would have left them joint top with Dublin. If they hadn't blinked in Tralee they would have beaten Dublin also. Looks like a question of attitude to me.

A bright note - Kealy's kicking was close to flawless yesterday, albeit many of them were easy short ones. He hit the long ones when needed. Marked improvement in that department alright. Not sure if the Cavan waters could be considered as shark infested however, more so noting the defensive formation Canvan adopted by sitting back. The kickout still resembles an infant learning to walk. We'll reserve judgement until the white hot heat of championship Croker. Wouldn't be convinced that Kerry could be considered as been in the zone yesterday, a prerequisite to cracking the kickout game across the outfield players, keeper and on field training. Looks like Kerry weren't interested in winning this years league analysing performances from the opening round to yesterdays. After next Sunday we wait 10 weeks for Kerrys next competitive game such is the bizarre nature of the inter-county structure. Monkeys, nuts and zoo spring to mind regarding this two months and 2 weeks idle window.

We seem to have a dearth of new talent on the panel There must be a solid. Group of about 40 players Over 21 but under 26 out there playing every week for their clubs Can we get even two or three and stop wailing about our U 21 babies Shanahan, Barry, savage, Spillane and McCarthy would all meet that criteria? All doing OK also as new players in my opinion learning their trade. Considering Rome not being built in a day and all that lark!

Shanahan, Barry, savage, Spillane and McCarthy would all meet that criteria? Point well taken but I'm looking for two or three more in that age bracket . I'm not totally familiar with club scene and what's out there But is there a faster stronger defender that Culhane from Bally? How about Donoghue from Glenflesk. Byrne from Croke's Who changed the game when he came on about an hour too late But if I'm looking for one player it's a lightening fast and powerful Ball carrying midfielder in thst sge group Ball carrying midfielder pretty much is Brendan O'Sullivan

Paul had this free to win it. Into a light breeze it was surprising that he didnt try it with the left foot

I really felt for the fans that travelled and ended up watching that rubbish. I was hopeful for a good game with it being a beautiful day and a good crowd and a lovely pitch. I wouldn't be jumping up and down about Kealys kickouts most were uncontested anyway.

Paul had this free to win it. Into a light breeze it was surprising that he didnt try it with the left foot Indeed and he came over and took it off Sheehan, who'd just nailed a beaut. It's a good sign though, he had a very poor half by his standards but didn't go hiding, miss or not. It was a tough angle, plenty of boo boys in song as well. Now you mention the left foot, his very last kick of warmup was left footed from the hands from close to that position, in closer if anything. Wide on far post, not enough instep. Last to the huddle. The free in real time had too much instep, on right. Sheehan's misses from dead in front of posts from 45 and 50m were over cut on instep too, missing near post. Both easily carried distance. Rock is the number 1 for consistency without question now.

Ball carrying midfielder pretty much is Brendan O'Sullivan And his name is Jack Barry Bradain Feasa You think jack Barry is the Messiah high speed attacking midfielder so badly lacking in Kerry where we just invite the opposition midfielders to attack at will simply because we don't give them any defending to do . Hope you're right I have only seen glimpses Maybe it's been drilled out of him in order to play the "Kerry way" But if attacking is his thing he must be in a straight jacket the last few games not necessarily his fault I don't know But something needs to change soon.

I missed the Dublin game but watched it there tonight. Kerry were very close and dominated for parts of the game. Tiring at the end, Murph made a monumental error. He's a brilliant player though and David Moran is too. Their commitment is unbelievable. Crowley also immense and Stephen OBrien was inspirational when he came on. I feel the Summer will bring a different Kerry. The Cavan game is best forgotten about. Roll on Tyrone and Killarney Sunday. Kerry have been a monkey on their back now for a good few seasons. Long may it continue. A performance like The Dublin game should be enough to put them away by a few points and a few more results elsewhere could land us in a league final. Another crack at the Dubs in our favourite pitch. How sweet it would be to take a scalp from the Champions before the cockoo comes.

Not much I can add to what has already been said (good report Mickmack...said it all really). An awful performance, lacking in so many things you come to regard as fundamental. Rather than rehash what others have said in describing the performance (if that's the right word....a long journey for that 'entertainment'), I would revert to a point I made after the Dublin game re.decision making. I might be misinterpreting now but I thought some of the substitutions on Sunday pointed to Eamon sending out a message in terms of decision making by players...Adrian Spillanes substitution followed a very poor and almost directionless pass by him, a complete waste of the ball or at the every least, giving the opposition a simple opportunity to recover it and giving our player to whom the 'pass' was intended a very difficult task to win the ball. Similarly, with Jack Barrys substitution ..Jack gave a weak kicked pass towards a very heavily marked Paul Geaney ( I think it was him) when Jack could have had a kick at the posts or recycled the ball. Again, it was giving the ball away cheaply and the substitution happened immediately. Darren O'Sullivan won a ball in the corner and set off across the field but very obviously over-carried while not under extreme pressure etc and gave away possession as a result. Again the substitution happened immediately.
You could argue that rather than a focus on decision making, the above shows a decisiveness when players fail to respect possession and give it away cheaply. Maybe I'm over-reading it but I thought it more than a coincidence.

I enjoyed the game especially the way cavan set out to try to win. They know their limitations. It was a stern test of kerry to see how they would cope with a well organised defense and they didnt do well. Similar to monaghan and mayo games i suppose. Better to have a game like that than playing the rossies. If cavan had scored another point v kerry, donegal and monaghan they would be well clear of relegation.
The great dublin team were reduced to using mdma as a battering ram in last years final. He set up points for brogan and costello. The day of the classy corner forward in space to twist and turn his man are gone it seems. Its a pity but brute force and strength running through the middle are more important now it seems. Hurling is gone the same way. All about posting long range scores now and drawing fouls

It is a relief to know that management are exerting some kind of control on things.

I believe he is the real deal if still a young player. He has great pace which we haven't had for some time. This league has been mixed but his performances in two games have reinforced my belief (Mayo & Dublin).

It is a relief to know that management are exerting some kind of control on things. I especially noted Darran's hauling after the over carrying. He never really got into this game. Was it Jack B also that through a lazy hand pass in our centre fwd zone in second half, to nobody? Bar Stevie, Eamonn could have taken any of the other 5 off. I've always liked O'Brien, almost all if not every ball into him stuck on Sunday. He's a bit wild, more unpredictably wild with consistently good decision making would be a hell of a weapon. A ways to go but his form and temperament are good now. He runs awkward lines and is difficult to stop. Let's hope his trajectory keeps rising.

Isn't grilse the specific name for salmon that travel up river around June, approx 4lb to 7lb? Ha...no offence taken whatsoever. No agenda re Barry just think he may be the answer to Fenton etc. and has shown enough to encourage optimists like myself. A lot of hopes were pinned on the majestic Mark O'Connor but sadly he is on leave at present. Our midfield of the past few years has been of the more traditional type. We need different options. There is plenty to encourage ahead of the summer with the form of Morley, Shanahan, Savage, Spillane and the u21 lads when they played too. Kerry have had a disrupted panel all Spring and are also evolving as they must which takes time and sometimes isn't pretty but will emerge all the better for it. We are gearing towards a more athletic, faster, hard running team with a tighter defence allied to Kerry flair and class which should give us the capability to deal with Summer challenges. I certainly ain't a grilse anymore 😁 or a peal salmon as we always knew them. Those days are well gone.
