Playing better in second quarter. Jack will be "taking them down the banks" about now. We can still do it but we have given ourselves a mountain to climb.

A lot of heavy legs, Galway look fitter and better. Jack could/should have made 2/3 more changes. We're lacking in speed, especially around the middle of the field.
There has been a big breeze up here which is starting to die down as I write this. If we win this it won't be because how great we played. It will be because galway never took their chance in the first half.
A big 30 mins and it's hard to see where we are going to turn this around.

AN Other. Spot on analysis. We look dead of legs. We have been third to the ball and were wiped out in midfield for the first 20. Having OSeanachain on Daly beggered belief.

Trying to find o Sullivan too much in the 2nd half instead of kicking a few points.

Well beaten good luck to Galway in the final. Kerry backs were terrible. Midfield was destroyed. Hard to believe they were this bad. Thought they would go all the way this year but were way off the pace. Two best teams in the final.

Well done Galway. This should dampen the hype about how many are ready to play senior football.

Unfortunately we got the result our performance deserved. Left it far too late before we woke up and started playing. Opening 15 minutes in particular were woeful. Not performing and losing is the worst kind of feeling - this will hurt.

Great win for Galway. When 3 or 4 players are bad, its ordinarily an issue with the players. When 10 or 12 are bad, its a systemic thing and probably owing to issues with physical training and or mental preparation. Changes could and should have been made an awful lot earlier.

Jack O’Connor’s carrot and stick for Kerry young guns Saturday, April 15, 2017 "Jack O’Connor’s chief focus over the past two and a half weeks has been to find a carrot which he could dangle in front of his players. How successful was he? We should know around 6pm this evening. It worries him that he had to go looking in the first place." www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/football/jack-oconnors-carrot-and-stick-for-kerry-young-guns-447891.htmlFirst off congrats to Galway and good luck in the final! The above assessment and following article in today's Irish Examiner was startling to say the least. Searching for motivation to win an AI semi-final, what? I joined the game late on k/Radio and I guess TG4 Geo blocked the game, couldn't watch the stream in the US, but am I to believe that we went down 1-8 to nothing in the first 10 mins? Dreadful first half leaving too much to do in the second. A note to Kerry Radio: Is it that hard to find two individuals to provide decent commentary on the game? It's AWFUL (apologies for caps) to listen too, it's 2017 wake the bleep up!

Congratulations to Galway who were clearly the stronger and better team on the day. Galway were worthy winners no doubt about it and the platform was midfield where they hovered up possession and breaks, particularly in the first half when the damage was really done. Galway ate Kerry without salt in that first 20 minutes and we had no answer to their ravenous hunger and drive on the ball.
I know we have no excuses today but I do think today at this grade we really felt the enormous loss to Kerry football of Mark O’Connor. All mere conjecture of course now as Galway proved their undoubted class and to be the better team.

Disappointing result, I was really hoping we'd win it this year. Well done Galway.
Few quick points:
- Galway were much the better team on the day.
- The referee was scandalous, completely inconsistent. Worth about 4 points to Galway.
- This is a learning curve for this team. They must realise that games aren't won on paper, you must assume that your opponents are going to fight tooth and nail before you go out, and you must bring the same fight as your opponents or you will lose. You learn more from losses than wins, like Dublin in 2014.
- There will be shouts, mainly from other counties, of 'This team isn't as good as they're cracked up to be'. This team are no better or worse a team than they were before the game. This loss doesn't define them, they are still an outstanding team, the best group of players in the country at that level and I hope 3 or 4 of them are in the senior team come Championship. No-one can take their All Ireland Minor medals away from them.

Well done Galway. This should dampen the hype about how many are ready to play senior football. Should also dampen the hype about how many we can afford to export to Australia. Second year in a row beaten at midfield.

Galway deserved winners. They built up a good lead and held on to it. Good traditional attacking football played and I wonder has our training focussed more on counteracting the defensive sides? A good bet to go all the way but will the Dubs countenance another Final defeat?

Galway were a bigger team, beaten at midfield and won very few breaking ball. Referee very hard on us. Best of luck to Galway in final

Well done to Galway, the better team throughout most of the game and deserving of their place in the final. Hard luck to the Kerry team and management, it just didn't happen on the day. Some days it just doesn't go for you, no matter what you try. People can be very harsh when you lose one game, these lads have done their county proud in recent years, today it wasn't to be. A word on the referee, appalling. I know the man and he doesn't suffer from lack of arrogance.

Absolutely bizarre decision to put O'Seannachain on Daly and hard to absolve the management of that decision. Certainly wouldnt be critical of the player. Opening quarter was when the game was lost and the midfield, centre back and sweeper system put in place by management spectacularly backfired.

The first 25 minutes was freakish. Our guys looked clueless, apathetic almost, of course that's not true. For the first goal, the kick that was blocked, was laborious and devoid of intensity. We couldn't even get out of our half back line. Jesus, asleep for the quick free, that Galway fumbled luckily. In fairness the first 4-5 scores were bombs, they couldn't miss, luckily the shanks arrived. Could have been 3-12 by half time. Physically a bigger side, and pacey and direct, we couldn't slow them down.
Once we got the early goal in second half, we had chances to tip a couple of points, but butchered them looking for goals. Trying to bomb balls into Matthew, then. In truth Galway missed a lot of easy chances in second half. We got exposure to what might have been with the two balls to Jordan late on. Killian did well with crumbs. Some days it just doesn't happen, and the game was done after 25 mins. Too much to turn around. At the very death, a simple fist over to make it a 1 score game, again forcing a goal chance. We needed two scores, take the point unless it's gilt edged. 4 points flattered us, 8-10 was closer to it based on play. A bit of a reality check for the team and all of us, but, the team is better than that showing. Take the learning from it.

We must have come close to a record number of kickouts lost in a row in that first quarter. And it didn't get much better after that. Totally cleaned out in the middle of the pitch.
The worst of it is that Galway kicked about 15 wides in that game; otherwise it could have been an almighty hammering.
Did anyone else think Kerry looked a bit casual in the minutes before the throw-in? Not being wise after the event; it concerned me a bit at the time.

Impossible to reboot motivation if mental energy sapped, younger lads prone to it, a harsh if valuable lesson, all part of growing up, agree re missing Auzzie lads and it hits all counties.
Was our goalie as truly amazing as I think from what I saw?, looked better than any senior goalie, blocked a sure point-blank goal. And his 45s -wow, split the posts equally with plenty of distance to spare. Looked very relaxed and at ease and which shows natural confidence, maybe those at the game might elaborate?

just home from Ennis, disappointed isnt the word. alot of these lads did themselves no justice and it will haunt them for a long time.
matthew flaherty was brilliant but few others played well.
ref appaling, the worst ive ever seen but it doesnt take away from a dominant Galway win, we were beaten all over the pitch. they should have been out of sight, but somehow the game was there to be won with 15 mins to go until the ref pulled the rug from under what had been a comeback from 10 points down, to 3.
those opening 9 minutes will go down as the poorest in recent Kerry annals, my father has the term "stuck to the ground" and this was apt, our lads couldnt move. got back into it, but too little too late and on the sideline, Jack had a shocker, he was right in front of me and i expected better from him.
bad day at the office, such a difference in the highs of walking out of croke park last sunday! a few lads did their summer senior prospects alot of harm today, but they are all only young lads and will recover.
maybe just maybe,we put all our eggs into the Cork basket and the focus on today, wasnt there?
