Great to see the crowd nearly all in for the minor game. Not that the support was particularly needed today but it must have been a good experience for the players all the same.

Dublin play Kildare & Wexford play Louth this Weds night in semi finals - Dublin /Wexford final looks likely, Kerry play losers of this tie and if successful will play Connacht champions ( probably Galway) in semis.

Clare were shocking. The management were so negative. Why not at least have a go? 14 men inside their own 45 when they are down 15 points. What sort of game plan is that?
Kerry picked off scores at their ease. Hard to judge them on today's performance as Clare were so bad. Tougher tests await.

Clare were very poor. Kerry were good but it's hard to judge them on that. The backs look solid Sean O'Leary is having a great year was very good for the Sem this year. Horan very solid at no.6. Midfield combo working well. Fiachra Clifford was very good yesterday and Donal O'Sullivan. With all eyes on David Clifford these guys will have to step up when they meet tougher opposition.

Far too early to start predicting (or planning) at this point in time.

Far too early to start predicting (or planning) at this point in time. We also played Kildare in Thurles on a B/H Monday a couple of years ago - Cork /Dublin was the other game. Realistically it could be any day.

In fairness 2-21 to 0-3 is a fair dishing out of the cold steel, the bulk of it (0-17 or 0-18) registered when Clare had 15.

Louth beat Wexford. John Gallagher looks a good player for Louth. Louth await the Dublin v Kildare winners from tonights game. Dublin player to watch James Doran center forward. For Kildare David Kelly the Captain. Good player. Connacht final Sunday Galway v Sligo. Galway have looked impressive this year. Hammered Mayo. Stephen Joyce in charge of them. Galway player to watch Evan Murphy. A dangerous forward. Was on the team last year . Evan Lavin from Sligo a good looking player. In Ulster Derry play Cavan July 16th. Derrys third final in a row. They beat a good Tyrone side in the quarters finals. Hammered Antrim in the semis. Cavan beat Down in the semis. Oisin McWilliams for Derry the midfielder a player to watch. For Cavan corner forward Oisin Pierson a player to watch. On a side note Darragh Canavan played for Tyrone this year. Son of the famous Peter.

Convincing provincial final wins today for Derry over Cavan (1-22 to 2-12) and Dublin over Louth (2-19 to 0-12).
So quarter final line up will be Galway v Cavan, Derry v Sligo, Dublin v Clare, Kerry v Louth.

Looks like it. Can't see any of the beaten four winning. Derry,Galway and Dublin all looked good in their respective Provinces. Kerry are still the team to beat. Some good minors not on the panel this year shows you the strength Kerry have. Still you never know with Minors.

Some fallout from the U-17 fracas vs Cork. A Cork player has been suspended for 12 weeks and a Kerry player for 4 weeks; Tommy Griffin was handed an 8 week suspension for his part in the melee but appealed same and along with video footage was exonerated and had his suspension quashed - as far as I know, these were the only suspensions handed down.

Won't be long coming, you'd imagine Louth should be a handy enough one. County assessment has, it looks like, in some minor areas, developed for other reasons football. In my opinion strength and conditioning is a massive thing at underage level to prep them for senior level. Sometimes i feel as though it's not being focused on enough.

Couldn't see Tommy Griffin misbehaving on the line at an u17 game, thank God for the video footage.

Has this report been published some place? I was very near the area when this flared up at the final whistle. Can you name the Kerry player who was suspended? I would be interested in the identity of the Cork player because one of their players who was substituted in the second half seemed seemed to be one of the main protagonists in the melee. Does the Kerry player get a match ban or a time ban? If the latter it would mean to he would be available for the next match. Cork teams/mentors are usually well behaved but they seemed to lose the collective heads that night. On that basis I am surprised that they are escaping with just person being sanctioned. On the other hand, our old friend Frank Murphy was In the Cork dug out that night and had a bird's eye view of the punch up. Perhaps, he used his considerable influence!

Not yet in the media ! Kerry player will I believe get a match ban as not being U-17 next year he has to serve suspension now. Cork players identity not known yet.

Will the final of this u17 competition be played before one of the football semi finals

Will the final of this u17 competition be played before one of the football semi finals According to the master schedule the final is to be played Sunday August 20th - no venue mentioned. The minor fixtures normally are the undercard for the senior fixtures from semi final stage onwards - in Kerry its the same management team, not sure about other counties. Assuming Kerry win their u17 semi and minor QF a clash of fixtures may mean the u17 game moves or else is played as a third (and very early) game in Croke Park - neither scenario is good from a management perspective. Potential problem for dual players also obviously. First things first however and both teams need to negotiate the bank holiday weekend fixtures before we give serious thought to the 20th.
