Out of the 26 named in the squad for the Mayo game 7 have lined out with the Kerry juniors previously.
When you look at the lads who were ineligible because of their clubs, that's a very decent return from the Junior setup.

Mayo face Munster champions Kerry in round 2 of the Allianz football league tomorrow night in Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

1. David Clarke (Ballina Stephenites)
2. Donie Newcombe (Castlebar Mitchels)
3. Keith Higgins (Ballyhaunis)
4. Paddy Durcan(Cas tlebar Mitchels)
5. Colm Boyle (Davitts)
6. Stephen Coen (Hollymount/Carramore)
7. David Drake (Ballaghaderreen)
8. Donal Vaughan (Ballinrobe)
9. Tom Parsons (Charlestown)
10. Fergal Boland (Aghamore)

13. Evan Regan (Ballina Stephenites)
14. Alan Freeman (Aghamore)
15. Cillian O'Connor (Ballintubber, Capt)
Team Manager: Stephen Rochford

are shanahan, barry and spillane all underage for the 21s or are they overage? if not, thats 5 under21s on the panel plus i assume the 2 crokes lads and BoB to come in, so thats at least 8 under 21s potentially part of the summer senior squad. I think you are mixing up some older brothers with younger brothers on the age front. Jack Barry and Adrian Spillane are overage for the U21s this year. Andrew Barry and Killian Spillane would be underage for U21s for this year - both played minor in 2014. I think Ronan Shanahan is overage for the U21s as well but not 100% on that. Anyone know how old Ronan Shanahan actually is? Know very little about him or what kind of player he is

Does anybody know anything about Roman Shanahan. I presume I have seen him play for Austin Stacks but I can't visualise him. Age?

Could any of you that have android boxes give me a guide as to the best app / add-on to get eirsport. It doesn't seem to come in the packages that the other sports channels do. Doesn't normally bother me but with the big 4 in action on Saturday night and the Kerry game not finishing on tv until 11:30, probably wouldn't see very much of it in my local with the Saturday night crowd. Mobdro. This is the best one for android phones anyway, you can get pretty much every tv channel in existence,I don't have an android box so wouldn't know anything about setting it up

Members of Barrys and Spillanes getting mixed up, some strongholds, some households, pairs in each, and there was the posh TCD Professor of Genetics ridiculing 'the notion' that is The Kerry Ingredient and we'll say nought about the Umbrolly.
You'd sense that we have a bit of an avalanche on the way but watch out, development squads are nurturing, real quality is determined by vintage crops that mother nature serves up, still she doesn't do a bad job either and it will give the younger generation an idea of what it was like for us in the '70's/80's. I recall being told to get off table after the Bomber nailed his third goal in '78, the same day Mickey Sheehy scored the burnt cakes/fire brigade goal vs The Dubs -my reply was 'what table', I didn't even know I was standing on it and I am still reminded of my blank face, couldn't figure out what the fuss was about, 3 goals and someone worried about a lad dancing to his hearts content on a auld kitchen table, probably told 'em to get their priorities right, fond memories of happy days and hopefully another generation of table dancers will we have.

I don't believe that this will be a walk in the park for Kerry but we should prevail. Donegal were very average last weekend and were missing so many of the men that made them tick in the past. We still conceded 1-17. Sometimes, games take on a life of their own, so shorelines like that happen. It's great to score 19 times but to concede 18 scores against a mediocre opposition certainly gives us plenty to get right for tonight's game. Mayo looked very leggy and quite devoid of a discernible game plan against Monaghan, with only Cillian O Connor willing to battle hard enough to win ball that was in scarce enough supply all night. Monaghan were very revved up for it and Mayo were just back from holidays, I would expect them to improve a bit for the outing, however, not quite enough to come to Tralee and win tonight. If they score a couple of goals they have a right chance, as I'm sure they will be trying to close off as many avenues at the rear as possible. If they don't get the goals I find it hard to imagine Mayo racking up 15/16 points that may be required to win it. Kerry looked very fresh last Sunday and the passing was crisp and accurate. A number of new players were very impressive and given that we were shorn of so many regulars, the fluidity of our play was impressive for early February. In horse racing, horses that win impressively after a long lay off, often blow out the next time. I sincerely hope that isn't the case with our lads this evening. It would be great to see consistent excellence from whatever team we field, throughout the season. Here's hoping for a great game and the right result. Looking forward to it.

1-7 to 0-6 at half time. Barry John with 1-1 off the bench. Griffin, Lyne, Spillane all playing very well. Massive crowd. Kerry should have scored 2 more goals. Cillian O Connor with 4f

I think our main problem tonight was James not starting and Geaney getting injured because it robbed us of that bit of experience in the inside line and we lacked a bit of penetration in the 2nd half as a result.
I thought the young guys did well all round. But the experience/youth balance was upset for reasons outside of management control. Mayo certainly brought a strong squad to Tralee and had to respond to last week's game in Castlebar.
Jack Barry will give us a bit more pace from midfield in time. Early days but we need to be patient with the new lads.

We are coming out the wrong side in all big games. I think management need to be questioned why s econd halfs are so poor.

We have a problem in goals & full back- Shane Murphy or Shane Ryan will solve one problem, Jason Foley the other. Sideline v poor in not taking action to curb Andy Moran- also need Paul Murphy back in defence. Spillane & Conor Keane both struggled.

Just relying on the commentary on radio as i was unable to attend. It sounds like Mayo profited from Kerry fouls all night and the bulk of their scores were o'connor frees. Injuries to Young and Paul Geaney so early were big drawbacks. We seemed to have no pattern or leadership in the forwards after that. Who would people suggest could have brought on or switched to mark Andy Moran? It sounded like that was one obvious call that wasnt made by the sideline. Looking at the tv pics on the 9 oclock news there seemed to be a huge crowd which is good news for the coffers in Tralee premises tonight one hopes.

The greatest Oaks have been little Acorns.
Disappointed of course with the result but taking an overall view, we’re learning and gaining a lot in this league so far. Much more than the likes of Mayo have done. By and large, this was a hugely experienced Mayo team who were playing for pride but have they learnt anything new about themselves or found a new X factor? Not on any evidence so far, early days of course.
Éamonn has a lot of talented young players coming on stream who will need time and need experiences like this evening to develop. Despite the circumstance with a big adversity faced through enforced changes to some of our most experienced and best we took the fight to Mayo and ripped them open repeatedly in that first half. The game should have been done and dusted at half time and our players will be chastened by the final result. They will learn, they will develop and many of them will come good in time. Jack Savage is showing some craft and class and as for Jack Barry…well as the man said, out of acorns grows might oaks.

Mayo had 2 forwards, O'Connor & Moran- they scored 12 points between them , 0-9 for O'Connor, all frees- we could have tried Paul Murphy on Moran, someone with a bit of pace but did nothing. Again, my ire is directed towards the line , less on the players!

Very poor 2nd half. There was a real lack of leaders out there and other than bjk,the bench made little impact. Barry in particular impressed in the first half scoring two and assisting for two others. He has serious pace.

Agree, it felt like an obvious option to try (there's no way Moran would be getting out in front of Murphy) and apart from the outlet of Moran - Mayo were limited.

Ronan Shannahan can be pleased with his performance. Thought lyne put a decent shift in. Hopefully this will finally show that Mark griffin is no more of a full back than colm cooper. He's rarely up tight with his man unless if it is kicked in high. Not sure where his position is. Not sure has he gone up a level at all in the last few years. His ball carrying is papering cracks but id rather a full back that will mark his man and be composed. Needs to improve. Mayo had 9 starting from all ireland final. Geaney going off was ultimately going to make the match a lot tighter. Moran won't start championship at all. Barry good opening half but disappointing to see him fade just needs to take it that extra level. Last week Donegal were poor and we only won by 3 points. But when Crokes boys come back and everything is set in stone for around april things will be ok im sure.
