What a year it's been for Gaeltacht so far. Winners of the Comórtas back in June, a county league final against Dr Crokes to look forward to, and now an intermediate final as well.
St Marys are always a tough team to beat come championship time, and it promised to be a good game in Killorglin given both teams willingness to play open attacking football.
The Marys started well in the blustery conditions, with Bryan Sheehan nailing a trademark longe range free, before Marc O Se got probably the score of the game after roaming up the field and striking a glorious point from wide out about 40 yards from goal on the stand side.
Soon after at the other end Paulie Donoghue slipped in the goal poacher supreme Sean Cournane who slotted it left footed under the dive of Tomas Mac an tSaoir from close range.
This goal kept the Marys in touch for the remainder of the half, but Ciarán O Coileán was on hand to tap home a vital goal before the break which left the West Kerry boys ahead 1-8 to 1-4 at the change of ends.
The 2nd half was still young when Brian O Beaglaoich went on an untracked raid through the middle before his goalbound shot was blocked on the line by Conor O'Shea, only for SM O Conchuir to hammer the rebound in to the roof of the net.
The outcome was never really in doubt from this point on. The 3rd goal for the winners came in similar fashion to the 2nd, this time it was Eanna O Conchuir who went for the jugular as his 3 point attempt was well saved by Austin Constable, but only in to the path of Dara O Se who palmed it in to the empty net.
Sheehan picked up a 2nd yellow near the end for a high challenge on Cian O Murchu, the sign of a frustrated man, but the game was well over as a contest by then. Gaeltacht got a 4th goal when Oigi O Se rose unchallenged to fist a dropping ball in to the net from the edge of the square.
The Marys were over reliant on Bryan Sheehan, especially without the injured Denis Daly.
The strength of An Ghaeltacht is they don't really have a stand out player, just an excellent all round team who all seem to be enjoying their football and playing for each other.
They'll be hard to tame in the final.

Sounds like something good is starting to happen back in An Gaeltacht again. Great to see this happening.

Sounds like something good is starting to happen back in An Gaeltacht again. Great to see this happening. The Gaeltacht have a very good young athletic team with a lot of pace all over the field. If they do win the Intermediate final they will give the AI series a real rattle.

Templenoe probably to come through if they have rediscovered their mojo? That would make for a cracking final. Obviously the successful schools team in Dingle are having an input/spin off back west also?

Templenoe would start as favourites but it would not surprise me if Rangers took them - Rangers have been progressing along nicely this year under Joe Hayes - they are a pure championship side and have been that way for the last 10 years - that said Templenoe are strong all over the park and have clinical forwards so the nod would have to go to them

Is this game coming up at the weekend? No. County championship this weekend. Intermediate final depends on when West Kerry exit the county championship. EDIT: I got ahead of myself and forgot about the other semi final. Its on this Saturday at 3pm in Fitzgerald Stadium.

I thought it very strange yesterday that the templenoe goalkeeper that was playing very well all year was dropped. Nearly cost them the game. Peter Crowley with a very poor challenge on Adrian spillane too. The west kerry men will be very confident going into the final after a poor game yesterday

Weather made havoc of the 2nd semi final but was exciting all the same particularly in the second half...Rangers can count themselves very unlucky not to have won it - Templenoe got a huge slice of luck with about 10 minutes on the clock when Pat Spillane who made a good contribution when introduced took a shot at goal that the Rangers keeper looked to have covered covered but took an unfortunate deflection off their corner back's boot and ended up in the opposite corner - Adrian Spillane had just left the field at that stage with a shoulder injury and was the slice of luck Templenoe needed to get them over the line
Mike Frank who put a big shift in for Rangers was unlucky to see a lunched effort hold up on the goal line during the second half also that looked like it was bouncing into an empty net - on such small margins games are decided...
Templenoe will have to raise their game to beat the Gaeltacht who will start the game as favourites - has the makings of a great game

Gaeltacht contributed 12 starters to the West Kerry Team on Saturday last. They are flying at present and will be a hadfull for Templenoe.

This game will/should be a belter. Two attacking teams that like to play good open football, hopefully, they don't cancel each other out as it has the makings of a great final

I hope the lack of comment on here isn't indicative of the interest in this match or else the place will be empty tomorrow ................
Interesting that the home clubs of 2 great modern dynasties are meeting. Gaeltacht are on an upward curve, while Templenoe try to maintain their progress over the last few years...

Bookies seems to fancy the men from the west for this one. It could be a cracker if Templenoe rediscovered their previous mojo.

Templenoe are 3/1 to win tomorrow with Ladbrokes, I'm on at that price as i think the price is way over exaggerated
