Does anyone know if you can buy books like this direct from the author? Its just I'd prefer as much of the cover price going to the man himself instead of shopkeepers, distributors, publishers and whatever other middlemen get their cut. I remember reading somewhere that the author of a book only makes about a euro out of each sale. Doesn't seem right to me.

Most authors have some of their books at home just for their own purposes. I have the same with my books. I'm sure I'm getting a lot less than Donaghy for my books though. Usually the publisher will agree on a fixed amount and then they take care of the publishing, promotion and the distribution. Knowing Donaghy though he will sell you a signed copy if he has one and you have a good way of convincing him why you want to buy it from him directly. I'm sure the price will stay the same though.
