The below goal by Mikey Sheehy is an inexplicable omission: The football in that game was incredible. It always seems to amaze me how fast and how freely the players moved back then. Nowadays a properly organised defence won't allow that much room and space for players, but on the other hand a well executed move like that will still tear those defences to shreds. A lot of attacks these days are "built" like in rugby. Players handpassing to each other finding gaps and being "patient" and "ball retention" and all that. Some of Kerry's best moves in the noughties and some of Dublin's best attacks in recent years went just like that: players running into open space knowing their man will secure the ball and trusting the kicked pass will go there where the players wants it. There is still room on football pitches to run to and a great kick pass should still find that player, but it seems to be ebbing out of the game more and more. Will we ever see a goal like that scored again?

Mikey sheehy would not make that run nowadays as the sweeper would be covering. It was late in the game and it was knock out. The ball by the late Tom creedon was very poor. Cork had gone forward to rescue the game. The first drawn game was very tight with two late points from two bits of sheehy magic saving Kerry. Kerry peaked for the replay and Seamus Darby ....

I havent got around to getting the DVd yet but I will do so despite the poor reviews. €20 goes towards Currans so tis worth it for that alone. Like others have said, not showing Donaghys coming of age in 2006 v Armagh is a shocker. I posted up the following video a few months ago. I downloaded a video of the game that someone had put up on YouTube and I edited out all bits bar whats shown on the clip. Thanks for that Mick. Very therapeutic on a wet, cold morning. So much to admire it in. I loved the ceremony with which Paul McGrane was dispatched in the opening seconds of the clip!!!!!

The Ses went out that day with the attitude that they'd take no *. None was taken, their combined performance is already, and will gain magnitude,in the folklore of Kerry football.

Finally got to watch last night. Isn't Dara oceinneide very easy to listen, reserved but no less passionate than our most animated pundits. On one hand love to see him on Sunday game but think he is operating on a different plane...

I stuck this on today...getting in the mood for tomorrow. It's a pity it was such a shoddy production. I know it has been said multiple times, but it's days like today when it's really annoying. The match footage looks really terrible.
