Team of that era for me
Diarmuid Marc_Mike Mc_Tom Tomas_Seamus_young Dara_maurice Galvan_Declan_MFR Gooch_Star_Jod
Put maurice at midfield as there's 6 other lads who couldnt possibly left off. Jod in 2014 ranks as the greatest ever individual season for me,even better than Fitz in 97.
Any player who got POTY has to be an automatic inclusion so there are 7 automatic choices plus Dara,Gooch, Declan, Mike Mc and Tom S.
Only position I struggled with was #7 but I think killian deserves that.

Delighted to hear that it picks up from 1988 and hoping there's highlights of the win v Cork in 1996.

You've made no comparisons, you've posted no real detail, nothing about any Dublin players, no explanation of anything except the very small bit in this post..................... Comparisons and detail on what? Not sure what your looking for? It was you who posted the following wasn't it? - "How would the current Dublin team fare against the Dublin teams of 70's and 80's? I'd expect a combined Kerry team since '75 to comfortably deal with a combined Dublin team since '75." Read more: kerrygaa.proboards.com/thread/6654/kerry-golden-years-1997-2014?page=2#ixzz4RIOqpcxIYou haven't said anything about how the individual players or the notional teams would do what you claim, or how the players would compare, except "Kerry would have more flexibility". How about putting a bit of flesh on it and give some reasons why you would see such a Kerry team "comfortably dealing with" such a Dublin team. So I started to make comparisons. And I also asked you how you'd compare the 70s/80s Dublin team with the present one. ANd I also asked how does anyone compare or contrast the Kerry teams from say 75-82, and from 84-86? So I suggest we can select two notional teams and then compare them as teams and individual players. My Kerry team would be: D. Murphy, Paidi, J.O'Keefe, and either M.O'Sé or M.Spillane. T.O'Sé, S. Moynihan, T.Kennelly. Jacko, D. O'Sé Dec O'Sullivan, O.Moran, P.Spillane. C.Cooper, M.Sheehy, and the last spot rests between the massively effective E. Liston & the massively talented M.Fitzgerald. My Dublin team would be: J.O'Leary (though Cluxton has at least an equal claim really) P.McMahon, R.O'Carroll(just about over Doherty), and can't choose between Kelleher, J.Cooper & Mick Kennedy. P.Curran, C.O'Sullivan, James McCarthy Mullins, Whelo Connolly or P.Flynn, A.Brogan or D.Hickey, Hanahoe or A. O'Toole, impossible to choose. J.Keaveney, B.Brogan, and between Barney Rock, K.McManamon, and Dessie Farrell for the other spot.

Tom O'Sullivan and Jimmy Deenihan too if we're picking corner backs. Come to think of it Deenihan doesn't often get mentioned in these best teams.

What's the package, is there also a book with the DVD? There is a tie-in booklet sold separately. It's €5.

There was a piece on an English programme yesterday about a project to digitise British TV shows. Tape of course doesn't last forever, and some of the older shows were in bad condition. There is also the issue that the machines on which the tapes are played are no longer in production.
It got me thinking about RTE's GAA archives. We are lucky in Kerry that Kerry's Golden Years was made. I know that any All-Ireland Finals from 1962 on are out on DVD. But there is loads of other footage in the vaults. I posted on this topic a few years ago. RTE are clearly quite hard up for cash. The GAA should take an interest in where things stand with their output, i.e. what condition is it in? I would be confident that it's in good nick, as they always seem to be able to find old clips. I suspect their GAA archive was subject to better treatment than other parts. But if the archive is held on tape, a digitization project would be well worth doing. When I posted a few years ago I also said RTE should show old Sunday Games. They would get an audience, and would be cheap to re-run I'm sure.

Looking forward to it, it's been delayed from the original launch of last Monday and now has been taken down from the online store for preorder. It'll be worth the wait

Important to remember that the proceeds from the DVD sales go towards the Currens development.

Am up to 2001 on this. Unfortunately it is everything I feared it would be. Essentially just a collection of scores from various matches often lacking any context in terms of the match itself or any wider context. Little insight or analysis being offered. Dara o cinneide and Tomas at least make some attempt It would be interesting if they at least addressed some of the following
The pressure to end the drought The Maurice being dropped issue The captaincy in 2001 Some comment for the Meath game. Literally they show a few scores and straight into 2002.

Talk of media I happened to pick up The Kerryman last week to read about Ballydonoghue's NK final win. Low and behold but the report was appalling, juvenile, if you think the video is weak, this was pathetic, pure trash. How someone like Veteran isn't doing it I'll never know.

Evenly matched , bla bla bla, lucky if a scorer is mentioned and jackpot if it's the right one. It's easier troll through each clubs notes for better reports. Is there even an official NK board pro at any level. No modern media presence i.e. FB. Website a joke. Even the biggest underage games get only a photo. I didn't even read the report as I gave up bothering as someone not at a match could spout off the same quality report. Rant over for now.

I'll still get it sometime as the original is what got me hooked fully. So it will probably be a great waych for the youngsters. I like u would like the lean years shown and Key events like that discussed.
