The best of luck to him out there. But I have to admit that the only reason I open up this thread is in the hope that I'll read that he has decided to pack it in and come back to the Kingdom.

He is definitely at home. It would be nice to see him play. But in today's world, it would definitely get back to Geelong so he would have to clear it with them and I don't see what's in in for them only a risk of injury or maybe even a reminder of what he's missing.

Tadgh Kennelly often played for Listowel when home on holidays. Would love to see Mark line out.

Mark O Connor had a huge influence in the Dingle win tonight. He was played at fullback. To be fair to Star I felt he was tired. Loooking on at Mark O Connor in action most were left wondering/regretting 'what might have been' or 'could be' if he had stayed.

He really has bulked up significantly since he left. I presume he will be around for the rest of the county championship. He will be a big addition to Dingle.

Fullback until black carded at around 48m for a tangle with Star.Handbags then broke out. However Dingle very deserving winners and will be a handful for any opponents especially with Mark O Connor included.

Black card was for taking (I think) Greg Horan out of it off the ball as Tom Sullivan went up and kicked a point. Donaghy started the argy bargy then after the point.

It's a disgrace how Geelong are making a big deal of this. Tadhg Kennelly used to com home and play in the NK championship every winter, no questions asked. If it wasn't for the work that was done at local level in Kerry with O'Connor growing up, he would never have become the player he is today. He should forget about AFL and come home and partner Moran for next year's All Ireland winning run!

I have no problem with your final comment and every kerryperson who follows the game would love to see this happen - however I dont see how its a disgrace that Geelong are protecting their player. It is his closed season (rest period) and in the interests of both player welfare and protecting their investment (they pay his wages and most likely his travel expenses) they are entitled to mind him - interesting how its part of his contract, perhaps something clubs added due to previous players playing when at home on their break. Would love to see Mark back in a Kerry jersey (and Dingle so long as we are not playing them!!) and hope this comes to pass when Mark is ready to do it under his own terms.

Sentiment of ideology but ideally I would like Mark wrapped in the jersey!

Also he was also warned about it at the time.

I can well understand a young man wanting to take part in a challenge and get a report on his performance. We have made one serious mistake already in not managing these situations. In fairness we have also managed another similar situation very well. An all-star and a young player of the year has resulted. A lot of people would say that Mark O'Connor or David Clifford was the best player from the 5 minor wins. I would say that Paul is probably the most complete footballer over the 5 years. I sat in Croke Park and watched him do things that were away beyond his years. What ever has to be done must be done.

He and mark O’Connor would make a nice midfield duo for Kerry in years to come, these Aussies are becoming a right nuisance, but best of luck to him if he gives it a shot of course.

Would HAVE unfortunately is the correct term! This is getting hard to take at this stage young O Shea looks a tremendous prospect was hands down the best minor this year in the country. If he goes we have lost another big strong mobile player excatly what we need to compete with Dublin. Is it just not attractive enough to play with Kerry anymore?

You mean why would a young lad want to go to Australia, get paid, have three months of a close season with time of to have a life when he could be playing here at home with club, county and possibly college all pulling off him for 12 months of the year. Forget the weather and adventure .... If you are good and play with successful teams here in Ireland you litteraly have no life for yourself as a youngster. The league takes most of nine months to play as evident by this years Div 1, if you play for Crokes forget a closed season as one year runs three months into the next where you may even have to play two different sets of rules. If we really want to keep the best talent at home we need to sort the calendar and give a life balance to players.

The whole thing urgently needs attention at the highest level.
