Paul Kennelly was announced MOTM. I though myself that Jack Gogarty would get it but can't have any complaints about Paul getting it. On the last post about Senans thuggery - this seems to have been a common occurrence this NKC with Senans targeting the oppositions main men. How is ever it didn't work and the best team strolled home.

Some of the thuggery witnessed today was a disgrace, it's unbelievable how Senans ended the game with only 14, they should have have 4 sent off. Congratulations to ballydonoghue, fully deserved and neutrals turned against Senans very quickly once it because clear what was happening Sounded like the ref was soft on them and it progressed from niggling out of frustration to some very dangerous play; Ambrose said more or less that too but if the first fella got red then the other 3/4 wouldn't have felt so comfortable in offending. I think it was poor spirit that it wasn't streamed, moreover as the diaspora are always courted when it comes to fund raising. I don't think it would have affected attendance as youngsters would want the day out while the older generation wouldn't be PC users. Just imagine some GAA diehard in America who threw a few bob on the table for Currans and to think they'd be deprived of seeing such a monumental game. It is even harder to take when you see the quality of the streamed semi, I'm broken hearted and Radio Kerry only covered parts of the second half. The only consolation if it is one is that it wasn't a great match but my heart is low as a GAA fan in thinking that they would do such a thing, and just wait for the excuses.

So maybe that was their catch up strategy, where is it coming from?, I'd never have known Senans to be anything other than a good auld rural club just like Ballyd. They'd have a problem anyway taking down our main men as we have so many and they would be well able to look after themselves, and help out as required. I'd like to see the face of a lad after having a dance in the ring with the likes of Mahony and Cremin. Jason and Ó Seanacháin would be hard as nails too and well able to mix it if asked. Ballyd play pure football, stylish and robust and ah sure, I suppose we can't be too hard on Senans as things didn't work out on the day, they will be back, and we will be waiting. BTW did I also hear that Lynch was employed as a sweeper?

Shame the early goal-blitz killed this one as a contest. As a neutral, I was willing Senans to make a comeback if only to generate some excitement in what was a monster crowd. In fact Senans had a few goal chances of their own but couldn't convert, on a day when simply nothing went right for them. Their keeper will have nightmares about the first goal; fumbled a crossbar-high ball into the net under no pressure - the forward was surely going for a point?

St senans behaviour was ridicolous in defeat today. Fair enough it was maybe embarassing the defeat they received today but their behaviour was out of hand. This is not the first ive seen this occur from this senans team.. one has to wonder if this was a listowel team the anti listowel band would be out in force again. Senans need to have a good look at their behaviour, fair play to them they had a great championship but that doesnt cover it. Im embarassed for senans

Can anyone confirm the story about the recording of today's game, surely it wasn't going to be lost, moreover as it was set up to be a thriller. Be jazus but the GAA sells the games to Sky but we get cut off - the diaspora are out of sight and out of mind until the GAA want money.

I agree that the behaviour by some Senans players has no place in GAA but is it possibly unfair to label all of them as thugs?

This latest one takes the biscuit. There were several times when a senans fella took a swipe ect ect. However This next line "This is not the first ive seen this occur from this senans team" is made up, as dirty is not a word anyone used before tonight. An elbow was used belonging to one of the finest players on view today as well, . Sad comments by poor winners is all I will say. Judging a bunch of young fellas by A game that was over after 10 mins is a bit much. As I said previous Bally Listowel and senans have won most underage over the past 10 years. That means they are doing something right.

I just seen the video without commentary, Senans WERE very 'physical', score didn't do them justice but Ballyd were far more skilful, no question.

Clearly better team and more skilful and yes senans trying to be physical in an attempt to rescue game that was long over. It's as if they realised they were there when it was far too late. My comment was to remind people that when u win, win with grace.

My comment was to remind people that when u win, win with grace. I wonder on another day could Senans close the gap?, they got as far as our FB line often enough. Maybe those who saw them play previously might let us know if they think the form stacks up, i.e. in essence are Ballyd and Listowel really that far ahead of a chasing pack? Ballyd weren't able to do to Listowel what they did with Senans and who had won all their games by cricket score before yesterday. I also wonder how physical those games were, that No 8 is a beast of a man, made the ref look small. The other thing that struck me was that Ballyd were jumping out of their skins when we thought the 2 week gap would favour Senans. That the ball bounced around nicely in Listowel while Moyvane was dead ground might explain the step up in pace and we didn't die down at the end either - mind you neither did Senans. Also IMO the ref failed to protect players and while some knocks were just hard, there was also repeated instances where players were unduly exposed and that is a bad example for a ref to show, a bad precedent and I did notice his officials being emphatic with him. Unless these things are nipped at the bud then fellas will think that anything goes and then someone gets badly hurt. And yes, it cuts both ways as I am sure I didn't see everything from a video. Ambrouse was critical of the ref in this respect, and no, I'm not being a sore winner, just concerned for 30 young men who could find themselves on a stretcher for a few months.

senans had 3 goal chances and missed them, ballydonoghue keeper pulled off two outstanding saves.
contrast down the other end and everything that went towards the senans net, seemed to end up in it. a couple of them were very soft.

There was one time when the Senans keeper was actually fetching his egg stand, thinking the ball was going out of play, it didn't but ended up in the net -ah its hard on him and I'd say he was in over his head, pun not intended! And yes, Ballyd keeper was v good, and our FB line was solid, the other thing I noticed was that we had about 10 fellas back there at times, maybe the comment I made just above re the fast ground by comparison to Moyvane had fellas running constantly and Senans were also mobile enough.

Complaints about an overly dirty game, mainly caused by a losing team getting petulant, with a ref who let everything go and didnt want to hand out cards as we would be ostracised in the local pubs?
Jeez lads you do realise that you are talking about the Nirth Kerry championship- this is the same every year and every team is guilty of it.

Does anyone have a solid idea on how much money the North Kerry board have in the bank and how they spend money? It should be published at the agm every year and should be in the public domain. If there was 3,000 people there yesterday as claimed then that is a lot of yo-yos. More than probably 50-60% of intercounty national league games. How much was it to get in?

It might be a good idea of they now turned on the sound on the video so we can hear the commentary, or are they now going to sell us a recording, looking for more money? And now I don't know if 'tis my imagination or not but I wouldn't be sure that the picture quality is as good as v Listowel on Moyvane a week ago.

A lot more than 3,000 I'd say X €15?, could be €50,000 with programs. Insurance is a big issue in the GAA and all caused by our dodgy solicitors. Like the boyo who got his share of the compensation award, he didn't know if it was himself or the solicitor that fell off the ladder - the pay out was so much in the Euro.

I attended a couple of the Nth. Kerry games again this year with a few friends. I must say that both Ballydonoghue and St. Senans deserve great praise for how they have developed their clubs in recent years and are now reaping the fruits of their efforts. Their future is bright. Congratulations to Ballydonoghue. Senans are better than what we saw yesterday and these two young sides will lock horns again in the coming years. The game itself has been comprehensibly covered by others and that is not why I am posting today.
Vague and guarded references have been made on this Forum in recent years of a practice that prevails in North Kerry Championship games that I suspect most clear thinking people would regard as culturally and procedurally ‘unwise.’ The "-gate" suffix has been used liberally throughout the English-speaking world in recent times and this small word is central to my story. Specifically, I am referring to a practice whereby cash is tendered for admittance to the grounds and no ticket is issued in exchange. I can personally say that in North Kerry, more than once I have witnessed gatemen overwhelmed with pocketsful of notes, no tickets, and no moneybag. I have even witnessed one principled man refuse to part with his cash until he was issued a ticket. He got in free!
Open discussion of this potentially sensitive subject is extremely difficult and is necessarily fact sensitive, as the lines between freedom of speech and defamation are the things that make lawyers rich.
I want to state very clearly that I am not in any way, shape or form, maligning or accusing anybody of anything other than lack of proper procedure. What I am saying is that the Board needs to infuse proper procedure, or something closer to what could be regarded as best practice, into the way the ‘gate’ is run. I acknowledge that there was what I would describe as ‘cloakroom’ tickets in use yesterday but there is no excuse for not having established and accountable procedures, such as turnstiles when dealing with cash. This is not acceptable anywhere in this day and age and will always have that unethical aura.
Surely, some club in that division must have concerns in this regard and could be prompted to take on an issue that I know people have concerns about. These things should be settled before the questions arise and not after. In the words of St. Paul "Provide things honest, not only in the sight of the Lord but also in the sight of man"

And no way was there only 3,000 there. I'd say 4,000 easily.

I wish we had a few more nk lads from sixty minutes on v Dublin. They walked through Kerry in the end. You need lads who can dish it out. Liam Flaherty, Breen, kennelly, galvin, fitzie. Dublin have about six like that as do mayo. Kerry have a few but need more like that. How many are ready to step up
