South Kerry were given no chance tonight everyone was writing them off and if you look at the Kerry minors and under 21 it's always only 1 or 2 players picked, that's exactly why I'm saying they don't look at players from south Kerry Conor Shea from town should have been an undeR 21 I hope jack Connor was watching with his selectors today and I'm sure he knows he should have had more players from south Kerry on the panel that would have made a difference south Kerry weren't given a chance by anyone but by god did they prove that tonight, as I said south Kerry is the home of football!!!! And don't mind mentioning mark Connor south Kerry were missing there star player Brian sugrue !!!!! End of now and give south Kerry credit for once! You must be part of the Tipp football management team? Nobody rates us not even Jack O'Connor who is one of our own!

It's already a proven fact that if your not from dingle or east Kerry your will never be noticed but this victory is for the lads competing in division 4 and 5 and keeping club football alive in south Kerry and by the way if south Kerry had Brian sugrue it would be a different game aswell , it proves south Kerry football is not looked at as there were only 2 players on today's team that were under 21s , no one looks at south Kerry but by god they proved all of Kerry wrong today , get out of mark o Connor for yourself he's worth no 9 points , all these Kerry players that dingle had today were beaten by better players from south Kerry , south Kerry have heart and determination and south Kerry football is the home of football At no stage did I suggest that Mark O'Connor was worth 9 points to Dingle- simply pointing our his loss to a team seeking their first county title was huge as I am sure all would agree. Sticking to the facts (!), there was no player on SK team tonight from a Div 5 club with 10 of the team drawn from clubs in Divisions 2/3, with Bally/Foilmore and Waterville only recently relegated from Division 1. South Kerry players, similar to all others in Kerry are well known to the various selectors of county teams with their talents displayed in the senior county championship and latterly by St Mary's exploits in the county and all Ireland intermediate championships. Relax and enjoy the win!

We were lucky enough to win the same competition last year and I can assure you my reaction was not to try and start fights about it on the internet!

I didn't even know it was on never mind care who won but I wish South Kerry had been beaten now. There are many in South Kerry who are delighted with this win today and appreciate it's value. On aside and as an antidote to the now ritual online argument that surfaces when South Kerry win, would a combined West Kerry side not have won the u21 championship in 2016?

Lots of touchy people on here today - Dingle getting turned over is a surprise but well done to S Kerry. Reigning Senior and now u21 county champions. Kings of the castle and there to be knocked off - the nature of sport. Dingle were Minor champions three years ago with a team backboned by Hogan Cup winners and were favourites as a result. Enjoy the victory - U21 Club competition up next I guess and Dingle will be hoping to re-group and go one better.

I agree with jersey97 all the rest of Ye are all keyboard warriors giving no credit to south Kerry, as jersey97 said south Kerry is the home of football maybe you could learn a bit about winning from Paidi Its hardly akin to Leitrim winning the All Ireland...a divisional team beating a club team with a much smaller pick.

Far from it. Tralee is the home of Kerry football. Between Stacks Mitchels and Rahillys they have the most All Ireland medals, the most players from a club. Easily it's the home. Kerry play their homes games in Tralee and Killarney not South Kerry.

The whole concept is pretty vapid but we've had the stats on some thread here before about Senior All Ireland medals by club and I remember Strand Road were third on their own so I presume when you add the Rock and Boherbee Tralee probably has as many as the rest put together.

And even so that record still Does not determine "home" of Kerry football and also Kerry play their home games in Tralee and Killarney because it's the centre of Kerry. Built up towns etc. But your first 2 points especially make no sense Ha Ha !! any kerry football fan with a brain knows it's Tralee. They have by far the most all Ireland medals. By far the most players from one area. South Kerry have 10 County Championships. Stacks have 12 Mitchels have 10 Rahilly's have 6 Tralee. Tralee Mitchels have 9. Tralee Division has 3. There was Tralee players winning All Ireland medals long before a South kerry players was. Ha Ha proof. That's a good one.

Urban Terrace in Rock St. Tralee, 'The Street of Champions', has a unique record in the annals of Gaelic football. In a terrace of 20 houses, 22 Senior AII Ireland medals have been won. It was from no. 7 in this terrace that the Landers brothers emerged; Mick, Gerard, Bill, John Joe, "Purty" and Tim 'Roundy'. Out of a family of six, 5 boys and 1 girl, the Landers blazed a trail of glory for their club Austin Stacks, and Kerry and Munster. With neighbours like the Gormans, the Drummonds, The Slatterys, The Doyles, The Regans and The Barretts, a football and a green field, it was only a matter of time before County Champions came up the Rock and AII Ireland titles came to Kerry. Hills field (later Barrett/O 'Learys, now Tralee track) and Garrett Cotters were the main training grounds in the Rock over the years.
Bill Landers was the first of the brothers to win a senior All Ireland medal when he was on the Kerry team that defeated Dublin in the 1924 AII Ireland final. John Joe 'Purdy' came to the notice of the Kerry selectors, and was picked to play in the Munster Final of 1927 against Clarea, a game they won easily. Purty recalls begin led on to the field by the great Dick Fitzgerald of Killarney, who had retired years earlier. Purty's first AII Ireland was not a success, as Kerry came up against a Kildare team of outstanding ability, and were beaten on a score of 5 points to 3 points. Kerry were back in the final of 1929, and got revenge when they defeated Kildare on a score of 1-8 to 1-5. This was to be Purty's first AIl Ireland medal.
Another medal in 1930 and in 1931, he was joined by Tim "Roundy" on the winning Kerry team. History was created in 1932 when Bill, the third of the Landers brothers, came on in the AlI Ireland Final - so they became the first set of 3 brothers to win AII Ireland Senior Medals on the same day at Croke Park. The Landers brothers or 'Landers Limited' as they were better known, were all forwards. It is thought and indeed, quite true, that the Landers brothers were the first to introduce 'mental telepathy' on the football field, as many a back who tried to mark them found out to their cost. When they played in Croke Park, thousands flocked to see them and even managers of professional soccer clubs in England offered terms to Tim 'Roundy' to tempt them across the water.

Will ye stop waffling lads. The purest of the Kerry footballing poets come from the most western tip of the Iveragh peninsula. Case closed.

Snore zzzzz what has any of this got to do with this years U21 championship? I'm sure there's another thread here somewhere for dick measuring.... Anyone at the final? I missed it. What a ridiculous night to have a county final on! Sounds like a decent match...

Some South Kerry fans who attended had plenty to say about the outcome, Dingle and Mark O'Connor but were less forthcoming about the game itself. Perhaps a separate thread entitled 'The great South Kerry' might be in order where these well balanced individuals (chips on both shoulders) can regale each other with tales of their heroes from the deep south....

When does the draw for the club championship take place - will the farce of groupings of clubs be allowed in this years club competition like last year.

I posted an interesting comment on this subject in the Development Squads thread and which is based on stats comparing The Cats and Galway as quoted by Loughnane.
