Aidan O'Mahony serving a suspension from last year's championship so he is out. Hard to see them overcoming Dingle now. Will be interesting to see the form of Paul Geaney.

Stacks 1-16 East Kerry 2-8 Crokes 5-19 West Kerry 1-9 The general feeling is that West Kerry didn't raise much of a fight. Even so, 5-19 against anyone is good scoring West Kerry really lacked leaders and were extremely disappointing. They actually had a few good players especially in Cathal O Luing, Eanna O Conchuir, Sean M O Conchuir, the 2 Hicksons and James Crean......but the losses of Alan Fitz, Marc O Se, Rob O Se and Brian Begley were far too much for them to deal with. Crokes were very slow to start conceding to a Sean Mici goal inside the first minute. Crokes eventually gained the upper hand and Gavin o Shea and Tony Brosnan goals saw Crokes go into HT with a commanding 12 point lead. Crokes ran the changes in the second half and the substitutes were just as lively with Jamie Doolan and Jason Lyne getting green flags. Tony Brosnan got the final goal in what was a great individual performance from him kicking 2-6 from play, he is certai oh one to watch out for and reminods of Gooch on many occasions.

West Kerry were very poor. It was almost like the game was their first time together. 5-19 was good scoring but I would rather have to tough game with a couple of points in it. This game was of no use to Crokes. They didn't learn much. Stacks got a good game from East Kerry. You are better off getting tough games.

Cracking game in Stacks today between South Kerry and Rahillys. South Kerry showed great resolve to get win from being 6 down at one stage

South Kerry seem to have found a bit of strength in depth from last year. No Mark Griffin, Brendan Sullivan or Denis Daly and came through. Goalscorers Barry Dwyer and Sean Cournane weren't involved last year, as well as Niall Shea and Fionan Clifford

South Kerry did well to come back- the standard was really high to be honest as any little error was punished.
Thought 21 from SK should have seen the line for punching savage and Tommy Walsh really can't buy a free out there. Rahilleys were very open tho and their keeper wasn't on top form today.
South Kerry have an excellent half forward line and that won it for them. No county player on either side really stood out- Sheehan was beaten, ditto Moran and young broke even with BJK

Tommy Walsh really can't buy a free out there. Was a neutral spectator today, and actually thought he was fairly treated. He did over carry/charge on a number of occasions and was correctly penalised. A more promising performance from him today overall though. When used as a platform in the full forward line, Rahillys profited from it. You'd expect they should get past Feale in the next round. South Kerry never panicked at any point despite the deficit. Given they were without Brendan O Sullivan, Denis Daly and Mark Griffin and a for once below par Sheehan, this was an impressive team performance from them. Mouthwatering clash with Stacks next.

Milltown were very disappointing today in Killorglin. They couldn't muster anything near the form or hunger that saw them beat Stacks last year in the relegation playoff. Can't see them staying senior at this rate. Weak bench compared to Legion. Legion had a full second team warming up at the half time interval! I was impressed with Mid Kerry, a little sluggish to get going but powered into the lead early in second half opening up a decent gap and was only a matter of closing it out after that. Crowley was a real leader today and Colin Mc got a cracking goal early on (one of his better performances). I think they will get stronger and stronger as the competition goes on. Dingle will be tough but even a loss wouldn't be the end of the world. Dark horses maybe?

He went up for a high ball and fell very awkward. Looked like the lower back.

Thought mid Kerry looked good in stages today but also took a while to settle, for me pa Kilkenny was there stand out player,Carey very good second half, Grady very good first half Darren always a threat, great goal by Crowley, if mid Kerry can stay in this championship long enough they will be hard to beat, and the game against dingle next week shoulSd benefit them win or lose

Mid Kerry certainly have the players at their disposal to rattle the championship. Darran, Donnchadh, Pa Kilkenny, Crowley, Grady and some fine young players also......they could go a long way and they will have a good battle next weekend with Dingle.

Scored some cracking goals today as well. Gary Sayers and Colin Mac took theirs really but but Crowley's was barnstorming!

There is a back door for teams who win their first game and lose their second...is that correct?

There is a back door for teams who win their first game and lose their second...is that correct? Correct. All winners play in a winners pool now. All losers play in a losers pool. Any team that loses their next match in the losers pool is out, but the teams in the winners pool who lose next weekend go on to play the winners from the 'losers' pool.

16 Teams - 8 First Round Games 8 Winners play round 2A - 4 winners straight into Quarter Finals 8 Losers play round 2B - 4 Losers exit championship 4 Losers from 2A play 4 winners from 2B - Losers exit championship This leaves 8 teams standing for the Quarter Finals and straight knock out from there.

Stacks carrying a number of injuries - lost another player to the dreaded Cruciate at the weekend. Will Griffin or O Sullivan be back for S Kerry next weekend? Irrespective would fancy S Kerry at home to Stacks but could be close.

South Kerry seem to have retained the ability they had last year in finishing strongly. With the addition of the Bally-Foilmore lads and the Waterville lads that werent part of the panel last year they will be contenders.
A few good games next weekend:
Sat. 21st May @ 4.00 pm – Extra Time
St. Brendan’s v Rathmore at Austin Stack Park - RATHMORE if Mahony returns. Should be close enough.
Sat. 21st May @ 5.45 pm – Extra Time
Kerins O’Rahillys v Feale Rangers at Austin Stack Park - RAHILLYS
Sat. 21st May @ 6.30 pm – Extra Time
Kilcummin v West Kerry at Kilcummin - could go either way but the winners will go no further. Home advantage just might swing it for KILCUMMIN
Sat. 21st May @ 6.30 pm – Extra Time
St. Kierans v Dr. Crokes at Cordal - CROKES, Kierans for the bum deal from the winners draw.
Sat. 21st May @ 6.30 pm – Extra Time
Kenmare District v Killarney Legion at Kenmare - should be a good open game between two fast, young teams. KENMARE by 3 or 4 points.
Sun. 22nd May @ 2.00 pm – Extra Time
Milltown Castlemaine v East Kerry at Killorglin - this weekends game should have brought on EAST KERRY enough to win.
Sun. 22nd May @ 3.30pm – Extra Time
Mid Kerry v Dingle at Killorglin - this could be a cracker but MID KERRY should be even better after a game together.
Sun. 22nd May @ 2.30pm – Extra Time
South Kerry v Austin Stacks at Caherciveen - SOUTH KERRY should have enough for a Stacks team weakened by injury

South Kerry must have the strongest panal in the championship. As mentioned above they were without 3 county players Mark Griffin Denis Daly and Brendan Sullivan ... They added real strength to their forwards this year with the likes of Niall Shea Sean cournane and Barry Dwyer and Ciaran Keating should be involved later on in the tournament. And from last years starting team Bernard Walsh (cruciate) and Brian Sugrue (dislocated knee) and Paudraig O Sullivan (work commitments) are long term absentees, if they get over next week and get some of these players back in the panal I can't see past them again this year. Around 6/1 I think is great value for anyone looking for a punt.

Is there anyone outside the panel that put their hand up during the weekend games? Paul Donoghue, Aidan Walsh and Fionan Clifford were the most impressive outside of the Kerry lads from a South Kerry perspective. Tommy was the only one from Rahillys who stood out outside of Moran and BJ Keane
