For a whole variety of reasons na crocaiagh, not everyone on here is in the fortunate position of being able to attend a lot of games, even if they would like to do so.
Well done on the County Final win. Any idea who is up next in Munster yet?

I understand people can't get to games but don't come on here saying your astonished more kerry players are not on my team. The fact of the matter is most of them did not stand out. That's a stupid statement especially if you didn't go to games. A sensible response would be. Why is there not more Kerry players on your team or NaCrocaigh I didn't see a lot of games this year I'm a little surprised you don't have more Kerry players on your team.Apart from the Final Buckley Fionn and Gooch didn't really stand out in other rounds. O'Beaglaoich did nothing. Griffin was poor. Lyne was bad. Moran poor for O'Rahilly's. Barry John was OK. Donnacha was Poor. Darren was good but not on the best forwards in it. O'Brien did good for Kenmare but was well beaten by Fionn in the final and he gave up in the second half. Apart from Geaney who was very good for Dingle nobody else stood out. Crokes are playing the winners of the Clare Final which is on this Sunday at Cusack Park between Cratloe and Kilmurry-Ibrickane. Two tough teams. Im going to travel down to watch it. It's on I think at 2:30. Crokes play Listry in Listry this Saturday in the O'Donoghue Cup Quarter Final at 2:00 this Saturday if anyone is interested. The winners play Gneeveguilla in the semi. Spa play Rathmore in the other semi final.

More that out of your evaluation he was shocked that only 1 county player impressed sufficiently to make it to the team of the year rather than you not putting them in there due to their county stature? Then again I could be wrong, only kerryexile can answer that.

The Terrace Talk Team of the Championship Shane Murphy
John Payne Tadgh Morley Tom O'Sullivan
Patrick Clifford Paul Murphy Gavin White
Kieran Donaghy Aidan O'Mahony
Daithi Casey Adrian Spillane Conor Geaney
Colm Cooper Paul Geaney Paul O'Connor
I'd go for nacrocaigh's team based on how players performed in the Championship over what the "experts" picked

I agree yellowbelly. This team is a joke. It was picked on name and name alone. Whoever picked should be ashamed of themselves. This team was not picked on merit . Some of these players were picked because of their names. Let's go through them.
Shane Murphy. Yes. Excellent championship easily the best keeper in Kerry. John Payne. No. He was poor against O rahillys and even worse against St Kieran's. David Naughton should be in the Crokes team ahead of him. Tadhg Morley. No. Tadhg Morley most of the games in midfield. Tom Sullivan. No. He played some games at wing back. Tom Leo o Sullivan had a better championship than him. James o Sullivan and Nathan Breen had good championships and they were not rewarded for it. It's a disgrace . Patrick Clifford . Yes . Excellent year has to get a call for Kerry. Paul Murphy.No. He played some of the time in the forwards. Brendan Kelleher was excellent for Dingle all year. Gavin White. Yes. Excellent year has to be in the Kerry panel. Kieran Donaghy. No. Again went for the County player here. He did nothing against Kenmare and South Kerry. Shane O'Callaghan was more dangerous for stacks. Aidan o Mahony. No. Played well but some of the time was Center back. How in the name of God did they not pick Barry O Sullivan here . Easily the best midfielder in Kerry this year. It's a disgrace. Daithi Casey. Yes . Had a good year for Crokes. Adrian Spillane. Yes. Had a great year has to get a run for Kerry. Conor Geaney.Yes. Had a solid year for Dingle. Good prospect. Colm Cooper. No. Had a good final but Kieran O'Leary had a better championship. Paul Geaney. Yes. Great year best forward this year in Kerry. Paul O'Connor. No. Had a poor final and missed some good chances didn't play the ball to players in better positions. Had a decent year but Mark Reen should be in ahead of had a great year for Rathmore and was their best Forward. The manager of each team in the county championship should sit down together and pick the team .

My comments were meant exactly as Glengael and Kot said - I took Nacrocaigh's team as a valid selection and was expressing concern that county players are not taking the count championship as serious as they should.

I actually feel he is one of the strongest backs we have and would be comfortable with him marking the oppositions main danger man. I also felt he had a good enough game against Rahillys (I don't think his man scored from play) and in the final he did well on Paul O Connor. Cathal Bambury scored 1 point off him and was subbed. Overall he had a very good championship in my opinion. David Naughten will be a serious player and it is only a matter of time before he starts for Crokes but I think this year might be one too soon for him. I also thought Tom O Sullivan also had a brilliant championship.

I disagree with you but everyone has a different opinion. David Naughton should be starting now. He had a great year with the Kerry minors. I was at most of Crokes games this year. Payne played well in some league games but to me he looked dodgy in the Championship. He does a lot of pulling and holding too but hes lucky he gets away with it. James O'Sullivan from Rathmore had a better championship in my opinion. Brendan Kelleher and Tom Leo O'Sullivan were better for Dingle in the backs this year in the games I saw. They were very good against South Kerry and Crokes.

So. What new players can get game time in the league based off the championship?

So. What new players can get game time in the league based off the championship? The stand out players for me were Shane Murphy, Gavin Crowley, Patrick Clifford and Adrian Spillane- think they are all worth a go given their form. Sean O'Shea was good for Kenmare in all the games I saw him play but had a poor final being well marked by Gavin White- both will surely feature for the U-21s so may not get a run in the league if hopefully we give the U-21 a good shot.

Will anyone stop Crokes in Munster? They have a serious team and panel Clonmel Commercials if they can win in Tipp would be due to meet Crokes in semi final with the winners most likely playing Carbery Rangers in the final- Clonmel were not far away last year, reigning Munster champions and would represent the most serious threat to Crokes I would think.

I agree Clonmel will be tough if they get out. The one thing about Crokes this year is they have a stronger panel compared to other years. This You have players like Mike Burns Jordan Kiely Mike Milner Luke Quinn Jamie Doolan Chris Brady Cillian Fitzgerald. They have all played for Kerry at some level apart from Milner who played u21 for Cork. So it's great to have them coming on with 20 or 25 minutes to go. I could see them winning Munster but they are some really good sides in it. Corofin are playing the Galway final this weekend. St.Brigids are in the Roscommon final. St.Vincents from Dublin look strong. Kilcoo and Slaughtneil in Ulster so it will be very hard to win it.

I agree with that. Definitely Murphy who is better than Kealy and Kelly. Crowley i always thought was better than Morley. Clifford and White for sure. Spillane for sure. I think Nathan Breen too from Beaufort impressed me. Barry O'Sullivan has to get games. Mark Reen from Rathmore played well this year. Tony Brosnan might get games. Jack O'Connor has a very strong U21 panel next year too to pick from.

Crokes panel is as strong as it has ever been. IT shows when you can afford the luxury of bringing on a player of Tony Brosnan's calibre. To think that Tony Brosnan only got a few minutes the last day just emphasises the strength in depth, remembering that he got game time for Kerry in the quarter final this year against Clare.
Crokes have a tough Munster campaign if we were to go on and win it but you would still have to be confident. If we were to beat Cratloe/Kilmurry Ibrickane then we would face the Tipp champs away which is likely to be Clonmel who have improved steadily in the last few years and would be a big task. Crokes have never had an easy task versus the Clare champions, most recently in 2013 we beat Cratloe by 1 point in the Gaelic Grounds and were fortunate. In 2012 beat Kilmurry in Quilty by 1 point and were also very fortunate in 2011 when we beat Kilmurry by 3 points in Crokes and for large parts of the game we looked beaten so hopefully the lads will take it one game at a time and not be complacent, however I don't think Pat O Shea will leave this creep into this side he is very meticulous in his preparation. Something that will stand to Crokes is that they have experience of playing these teams in recent times.

Tony Brosnan got a knock in training and Pat O'Shea wanted to start Eoin Brosnan so someone had to be sacrificed. He was in training with kerry this year. I have no doubt Eamon will bring him in again this year. Crokes could possibly have 6 pushing for the kerry panel this year. Shane Murphy Fionn Fitzgerald Gavin White Johnny Buckely Gooch and Brosnan .

I know Tony was in training with Kerry and i have plenty belief in his potential and importance to our club, however Tony didn't get any knock in training. Tony was dropped because management felt he wasn't performing, no other reason. He had very poor games against Dingle and against Stacks in the club final. He was average vs Rahillys. Ambrose was the player who benifitted as Eoin Brosnan also started vs Dingle.

If Tony had picked up a knock then there is no way that Pat would have jeopardised him by introducing him at all, considering he came on with a few minutes to go when the game was effectively over. I'm not knocking Tony, he is one of the most talented player we have in my opinion, however he is off form at the moment and the level of competition within the panel means a few poor performances may result in being dropped. In the few days after the final I was talking to many of the players and none of the players mentioned any form of knock he had picked up, in fact many of them were surprised at how little game time he got.

Kilmurry/Ibrickane play Crokes next week. They are a tough hardworking team, Were always in control against Cratloe. Crokes will be up against it. Keelan Sexton Shane Hickey Mark McCarthy are decent players and will give Crokes enough of it.

Yes looks like Clonmel suffered a hangover from the previous year and were beaten by Loughmore Castleiney. Crokes have experience against these also playing them in 2013 when the game was close 5 minutes into the second half but a Loughmore sending off eventually saw Crokes pull clear. We have a big big task next weekend in Quilty, hopefully that pitch has improved

Crokes will be delighted to see Clonmel out but I am not sure they can go all the way to Croke Park on St Patricks Day; many believe that the current squad is the strongest they have had in a no of years yet the vast majority of this years team is the team that went to battle in 2013/2014 with the likes of Gooch,Fionn, O'Leary, Looney, Buckley, Eoin Brosnan, Moloney, Alan O'Sullivan,Ambrose, Casey all having played against Castlebar in '14; the loss of Gooch that day so early in the game was undoubtedly a factor in their demise and gave added impetus to the Mayo side. The addition of Shane Murphy is a big plus with the likes of Micheal Burns/Jordan Kiely available to call on as the games progress. I think a lack of physicality plus the heavy pitches often encountered in February does not always suit their style of play.

I think a lack of physicality plus the heavy pitches often encountered in February does not always suit their style of play. On evidence, you are correct. However, I do think that Crokes are more equipped this time around. Crokes now have a bench and any one of 6 players being introduced will not weaken the side, this has never been as important especially with the black card rule and work rate of modern teams. Pat O' Shea's influence alone is like a new player to the team. Gavin White and Shane Murphy are invaluable players in the team. Tony Brosnan, Jordan Kiely and Micheal Burns have all matured and Crokes now have a panel of players that I think could compete considering the ease Ballymun and Castlebar had in their most recent AI adventures. The thought of Ballymun or Vincents does scare me but if they were to meet then it would be Croke Park and this could very well suit Crokes style of play more. Crokes in general are physical team at present with Moloney, O' Sullivan, Ambrose, Buckley, Brosnan and Casey.

I agree with hugh. greengold does make some good points also. There should be a lot of hunger in the Crokes camp with what has happened in the past. Those defeats has to hurt them. I think the panel is stronger for those reasons you stated hugh. They do have a stronger panel this year. Most of the team was there for those defeats and hopefully it will stand to them. They do have a good bench. Burns Kiely Quinn Milner Cillian Fitz Brady the Doolans are all good subs to have and they would get on a lot of club teams. I still worry about the physical side and some of the Crokes are a bit small but with Pat O'Shea in charge anything is possible. He is the best man to run the Crokes and he should never have left. Kilmurry are physical i was at the game and they will get stuck into the Crokes from the word go and a wet day would suit them. I think Pat O'Shea will have the Crokes up for it and I think they will win a close game. It will be a goood test for Crokes. It always good to test yourself outside the County.

This is probably not the best place to post this, but kudos the the CCC of the County Board for getting the county club scene more or less finished by mid October this year. We gave out about them in years gone by so they deserve credit for how things were run this year.
Its just a pity that some of the district boards continue to drag out their championships into December in a bid to get a bumper crowd to attend a final around Christmas Day.
