7 out of the 26 in the panel for the Dublin game played with the Juniors at some stage. When you consider how many would be ineligible for consideration for the Juniors because of their clubs -it's clear it's a very useful tool in terms of developing/bringing through players.

Any idea what kind of panel is there after winning last year Haven't heard anything but I'd hope a serious chunk of the eligible U21 lads are involved.

Am I right in saying eligibility is players that have not played senior county championship for their club in the previous season? This is complicated in Kerry's case by any player (is it only guys who were on field of play or entire panel) who was on last years winning side is ineligible this year (but eligible again in 2017).

Are player's that were with clubs relegated from the senior championship available to play with the junior's this year, If they played senior championship last year they are unavailable - the fact that they were subsequently relegated doesn't matter, until next year.

I think it is only guys who played senior club championship or played with a club in the senior championship.. i.e. lads playing senior championship with a district team don't count? Those on an AI junior winning team are ineligible for the following year's panel

Not to sure of the panel, read a few names mentioned in the kerryman, just wondering will these player's be eligible to play with there club's Saturday evening and then expected to play again the following day or is there a rule in place, doesn't seem very fair on these player's to be put in that position,

Donnachadh Walsh never played with the Juniors. Just a quick memory refresher for you 1. Senior Leauge Debut – 2003 V Dublin at 19 years old under Paudi o Se. 2. Faded off the radar again until 2007 – After an excellent county championship with Mid Kerry Pat O Shea drafted him in. 3. Senior Championship debut against Cork in the Munster final of 2008 scoring 1-1 from wing forward. 4. 2003-2005 – Kerry u21 5. 2001-2002 – Kerry Minor (Described at the next Jack O Shea during this time)

I love the fact they are giving youth a chance. Very young side. Glad for O'Conchuir from An Ghaeltacht. Never say him play a bad game at club level. Good to see Carey back. Nice to see Brosnan Clifford and Wharton getting a look. Templenoe flying in division 1. Not surprised to see Templenoe players on the team. O'Donnell from Stacks a good prospect also. Plenty youth on the bench too. Cronin from Spa having a great year.

Wasnt Adam Barry on the 2015 team or panel? Would that not rule him out for 2016? I'm pretty sure he didn't play last year. With regard to the team there looks to be a good balance to it. Maybe a little light around midfield but Paul Donoghue should help out there. Plenty of promise as well as a bit of experience in Niall Shea and Hurley up front

Darragh O'Shea was sub keeper all last year but didn't play in the final either so is eligible again this year. 19 different clubs represented in the panel of 26.

Paul O'Donoghue from Marys is a great player to have at this level- I've only seen him play a handful of times but has always been very impressive.
The timing of this championship is probably a bit of an issue in terms of the quality- it creates a selection bias issue as a lot of good young players who would have been available will have headed off/made plans to head off to the States for the summer by the time this gets up and running. So counties lose out on the chance to use it as a way of testing players just out of minor/21s at a more senior level.
This just doesnt apply to Kerry obviously and maybe it could be ran at the same time as the league to help counties unearth additional players for the championship.
I was looking at the squad and thinking that I'd like to see a few more of this year or last years 21s involved but I mentioned a few names and was told these boys have headed off.

Anyone know whatever happened to Niall Sheehy from John Mitchel's? I remember watching him minor around 2012 thinking he was the standout player from that crop, running the show by himself. He would be around 22 now so I thought I'd see him around the Junior panel.
