Brolly lives in Belfast which is a lot closer than Derry

I'd hate to be living in a City.

Sunday game lost all credibility for me this year in how they handled the Tiernan McCann incident versus how they handled the McMahon incident. Whelan was calling for a public apology from McCann and really went to town on him. Then, McMahon does a far more despicable act in gouging a player and it's pretty much glossed over by the entire panel. If we are to take the analysis on the Sunday Game seriously then they need to have pundits on it who are partisan. Another thing as well, I wish they'd stop stating that certain players like to 'play on the edge'. There is a big difference between playing on the edge and just being a thug! Thank God someone else has called that. I absolutely loathe that statement "plays on the edge" . I mean if ever there was an umbrella to cover up a symphony of thuggery this is the one. The cop out phrase that allows pundits feel they can sleep easy after offering the most wafer thin criticism of a player/players. Wikipedia: 'play on the edge': A rosy term for administration of violence and abuse. Membership comprised of footballers who have some of following characteristics: Like punching faces Like punching grabbing groins Like throwing elbows toward face Like frontal shoulder charges best if face is impacted Like gouging Love thrash talking, the more personal the better. Research often required Most of all, most importantly the player who plays on the edge believes all his actions are 'part of the game' Really? You'd be looking in the rule book awhile still to find any playing on the edge reference. That judge Tom Teehan dished out the punishment to those 7 lads who traumatized that family including small kids. What's this got to do with GAA? Nothing directly, but the administration of proper fear filling justice that should certainly discourage some future offenders. It's a hard line the GAA needs to take to route out this poison shi*e. Discourage players offending and as important management teams stone wall supporting them by penalising that also. Appeal a ban, double the punishment if upheld, manager touchline ban also

"He is not that type of player" is another one. And what about "any manager would kill to have him on their team"?

A big problem is the blind insistence of many GAA followers that "the big players should be there on the biggest days".
Not if he is after throwing digs, etc. in the previous match.

If he is involved in management next year, we will be seeing less and less of him. But I agree, McSTay is not a balanced pundit. He spends a lot of his time sighting players when it suits him, and staying very quiet about things when it doesnt. It is almost as if he knows that he can influence a sighting allegation only a couple of times a year, and thus has to be careful about when and who he does it to.
Example, the sending off of Connolly in the first game. He must have spent a good 2 minutes making a very careful and forensic case about why connolly had to be sent off, and thereby influencing the appeal decision (which he failed to do).

TSG influences everything and sets all agendas. Kerry were unlikely to get a high-end penalty decision in their favour in a high-end end of season game after Brolly's outburst after the drawn Munster final. It ran in the media for weeks. These guys know exactly what they are doing.
