All this talk of double/double is dangerous like the 3 in a row in 2008 and the infamous 5 in a row in 1982. Sundays win ws a good one but this talk of double/double can set us up to lose again. I hope Eamon will nix this silly talk and have people focus on the proccess not the result.

Players are well able to block things out I'm sure, no matter what people say to them when they are going about their business.
You can be sure Fitzmaurice and the selectors have their feet on the ground. If anything, I would say the pressure is off Kerry. By getting to the final they have already put up a better defense than any winners since Kerry went for 3 in a row in 2008. The pundits will declare who ever wins tomorrow as favourites.

Your completely right norman and I can't believe some of the overconfidence on the forum. Someone else has been talking about 5 in a row!
We ridiculed the talk of 5 in a row for the Dubs only two years ago and now some of us are leaping straight into the same silly boat!
Supporters of the Dubs and Tyrone (or Northerners as that clown McEntee may prefer!) were cocky in victory...please not let us be the same, it ALWAYS comes back to bite you on the ass.

Mikey Sheehy said that it affected him badly with all the pressure of the 5 in a row stuff, he said he felt lethargic in that game due anxiety. In 2008 there was way too much pressure on the team and the silly Twin Towers stuff,a lot of our players looked nervous that day. I also didn't like James o Donoughues remark after the game last sunday but he is young & was buzzing after the game so it's understandable. Anyways just a concern and I trust fitz will keep our players grounded for the Final.

Most regulars on here tend not to be over confident. I'm generally quite cagey, but you cant help thinking how great it would be to achieve the double and 2 in a row. Regarding James' comments , I'd forgive him in a heartbeat, and put it down to the exuberence of youth, like the Galway hurler earlier on it's good to see lads expressing their excitement and not some scripted reply. No doubt that has been confined to the bin and Eamonn will be working with the lads to keep their heads right.

1982 WAS ridiculous. The town councils of Tralee and Kilarney had a dispute in the run up to the final over who would have the official welcoming home of the 5 in a row team.

1982 was ridiculous alright, that was a very good Offaly team with a good manager. It was a very good game but it was the one Kerry game of that period that I saw our players really nervous for once.

Just to note...I actually had no problem with anything James O D said. He plays with alot of confidence and I've got no problem with him talking the talk because he backs it up. Anyway he said nothing wrong, just bring it on, that's brilliant, he's focused on the challenge not the reward. Talking about doubles and 5 in a row is ignoring the challenge which is stupid and Kerry fans should know and less hypocritical.

It's part of James O Ds swagger I guess. Anyways I'm sure the players will keep their heads right for this one.

Not on this thread....in the Kerry v Tyrone thread. ...I have blocked a few people so that might explain it... I didn't realise you could block people!!! It's gas really. We had no chance of winning an all Ireland last year. Even the most confident of supporter surely had low expectations. Amazing what a win can do. Equally so a loss. That's the nature of it. We could go from hero to zero in a blink of an eye. That said it will be a media driven thing anyway. We'll ride the crest of the wave while we can. It's never dull supporting the Kingdom. I have to say I haven't seen over confidence or talks of 5 in a row. Such talk would be shot down immediately.

Most interviews are so bland but at least he looks as if he is actually enjoying himself. I like him more every time I hear him.

The tempo on here is appropriate, we are in an AI final. And yes, I'm the one who has a 5 in a row bet. In fact I'd advise everyone to have such a rolling bet and in addition to getting great value you may eventually hit the jackpot. I mean it isn't as if we haven't won in Croke Park before!
James is a young man and a likeable fella, and there is nothing wrong with him talking of his ambition; it is realistic and he believes! What a natural talent and what a prospect, and he is one of our men, Sully above says it right!

The reality
We beat -Tipperary Div 3 team, Cork beaten by Kildare, Kildare (They won their AI against Cork and had only 7 days between games,Dublin beat them by 20 points plus), Tyrone -relegated to Div 2, yes they are an emerging team.
Who ever wins between Mayo and Dublin today will get a good laugh from this.
