In all fairness I doubt there were that many given to the 'yanks'.. How many would you think were given to the yanks by the co. board? 100? 200? Compare that to how many are given to co. committee members, sponsors etc.. You're giving a couple hundred tickets to the people who raised $1M for you so you build a decent training facility - I'd say it is not the worst deal in the world.. I'd be far more concerned at the number of tickets given to people for sitting on committees etc.. I wonder how many tickets each committee member gets? I am not saying they don't deserve a few tickets, but I heard of a case during the week where someone sitting on a sub committee was entitled to 6 or 7 tickets for just being on the committee.. I am sure there are lots of instances like this. I think if you had a break down of tickets like Donegal did last year it would be startling how many tickets don't go to clubs. I'd be surprised if that many went abroad, and like I said above, even if 100 did or 200 did (and I seriously doubt it is any more than that).. I'd think that is a small price to pay for the return (close to 2M over two years!) fair enough points made there.........but story I heard is that anybody who paid into those fundraising dinners is entitled to 2 tickets...............point still stands tho.......clubs got BRUTAL tickets...............we're bottom of the foodchain I was not at the NY dinner but I'd bet that is not the case. There is no way I could see the co board doing that.. It is not uncommon for there to be $1000 dinners in NY and many other US cities. They had the same dinner last year with the same entry fee and there was none of this talk of tickets being promised to attendees.. If the Co. Board gave 600 or 700 ticket to dinner attendees it is madness. I doubt it highly if they did.. I'd say what is far more likely is there were a handful of people who organized the banquet and golf in NY and those people probably got some good tickets, which in my books is ok, as it is not going to be an annual thing.. If you have to give some very generous people tickets for 2 or 3 years then so be it.. But yes, it is not good if the clubs truly are being done out of good tickets.

A block of 13, 000 people cheering for Dublin gives them an advantage. Mayo took over the Hill in 2013, not that it helped them.

I know a fella who's been plaguing everyone at work for a ticket, he hasn't been to a football pitch in 12 months, in 2006 he stayed in the pub drinking with a ticket in his pocket

Just to drive my fellow gaels (as mr brolly calls us) mad, I was talking to a rugby friend of mine whos not a member of a GAA club & he tells me that he's playing in the Kerry GAA golf classic in Killarney. Its €1,000 for a team of 4 & your guaranteed two match tickets plus you have the option to buy 2 more. He tells me that the company is paying €500 & himself & the other 3 boys are forking out the €680 & they are getting a match ticket each. That works out @ €170 a man, for 2 days of golf plus grub & a priceless match ticket that you dont owe your soul to someone for. Even if the company wasnt paying the €500 its still less than €300 a man & no hassle.
I just thought I'd share that with any fellow gael & gaa club member whos taking hours off work a few times a week to train & drive kids all over the county in his car & struggles to get a ticket or is thrown a hill 16 when we get to the AI final - so now you know where all the good ones go!!!

Pure f*cker stuff.
