I have faith in Fitzy and company to make the right calls, whether for tactical, fitness or form reasons.
If that means some "shocks" or "surprises" for me in terms of the line-up then so be it.
To me the biggest shock of all with the lineup if there weren't some surprises given the panel depth.

I admire that midfield pairing but I'm completely shocked at Colms non inclusion.

I'm gobsmacked by that team. Full back line ripe for the picking. And no gooch . . . . .

Gooch no.13?.bit harsh not playing the gooch. I d have him at 13 before Barry john. Buckley and Barry john under serious pressure to perform.

A hard working half forward line at last.
BJK must be flying in training. Fair play to the lad to make the starting 15.
I really do like the look of the MF pairing.
Nobody posted a different half back line.
This team is there to grind it out.
Let the game begin.

Big call to drop Maher who was impressive against Tipp. Must have picked up a knock or has dipped in training. Am surprised that Paul Geaney has been dropped, but we have to trust Eamon's judgment here.
Not surprised by Gooch being on the bench. This will be a championship paced game and he needs to be eased back into match sharpness. I'm sure Cork would like to test that knee.
That bench would frighten the bejaysus out of any team!

I suppose you have to reward BJK for his performance the last day.
James needs the game for the bigger tests ahead. Cooper isn't 100% either and along with Donnachadh coming back in you know there prob isn't a full game in JOD, DW and colm cooper.
If you have to replace all 3 because of legs that's half your subs gone. Which would be suicidal with the black card etc.
Plus I think eamon wants to give Moran the start as he was injured for Tipp. He can't really drop johnny and Donnachadh needs the game so he needs O'Brien to provide some pace I the half forward line, which Sheehan wouldn't provide if started there.
I'm happy enough with the team.

If cork don't put up an early lead we will be in good shape with that bench.
Plenty of 'water-carriers', as Cantona put it, to keep things tight early on.
Full-back line might see early changes if under pressure.
Delighted to see cork picking cadogan.
Enjoy the game everyone, especially those travelling.

That bench would frighten the bejaysus out of any team! As a comparison the Cork subs bench Paddy O’Shea Jamie O'Sullivan Noel Galvin Conor Dorman Tomás Clancy Ruairi Deane Patrick Kelly John Hayes Colm O’Driscoll Daniel Goulding Donal Óg Hodnett You'd have to think Kerry have a serious advantage on the subs bench.

Interesting selection, good to see the team evolving all the time. Strong bench. Great to see Fionn Fitz starting again. The only real surprise is Maher not starting which we must assume is injury related.

I'm very happy with team overall. It puts serious pressure on the starters to perform from the very first minute.
Is there 1 member of that (maybe apart from jod) team guaranteed to keep there place at the moment . I think not . I expect game to be over as a competitive game by 50min .

That has not been Eamon's MO up to now. In fact I can't remember the last time Kerry put out a dummy team. No reason to believe that has changed.

I recall a similar remark 2 years ago (same match same venue)when Donaghy was "dropped". We don't do dummy teams. This team will start unless there is a last minute injury or dip in form. We can expect them to fight for their places from the start as if they are not performing there will be plenty of options on the bench to call on. Really looking forward to the road now!

There is a certain staleness about the look of that Cork team. A lot of players have been knocking around a long time without achieving huge success in recent seasons.

Shocked to see Paul Murphy omitted, he was Kerry's best defender throughout league and championship last year

Thats an unsettling risky team.Maher was given 'man of the match'by a number of media after Tipp game.He also had a fantastic All Ireland final. He was playing very well and is our defensive midfielder. What did he do to get himself omitted. No Gooch,no Paul Geaney, what did Paul do to get dropped.I hope it works,if it doesn't wow!!!

Heard that BJK is frightening in training, as posted earlier to start three half forwards that will in all probability be rotated would have been foolhardy. Gooch will come in at some stage to gel into his position and do a little arithmetic ? and cause a few problems for the Cork backs. This will be a tight game as form is irrelevant in local derby games like this, Cork will fight like dogs for this one and Thomas will add a little spark to the occasion !! Hopefully the Kingdom will prevail, one point will do me blue everyone after that will be a welcome bonus. The hay saved and Cork bate,, not a bad summer !

Everyone's always going on about how players going well in training should be picked yet the minute this practice is followed there's a wave of incredulity.
Win or lose on Sunday I for one will be lauding Fitzmaurice for this selection, it's made of the right stuff.
