Don't think he would get the "buy in" he got with his own county. The late great Paidi also wanted the Mayo gig but for the same reason he wouldn't have taken them to the promised land.

Yeah you could be right but surely at "some" stage the powers that be in Mayo will have to change their tack to try and accomplish what everyone in Mayo are crying out for ... If not it will be more of the same next year and onwards.... Didnt know Paidi was looking the Job ?? ... Surely he'd have put a bit of mental strength in there which is what they need most of all !!

At this stage winning surely must trump every other related perceived principle Mayo honour. This one being "principle = Principal = Mayo man"

As far as I know only two outside managers have won All-Irelands with adopted counties, Eugene McGee and John O'Mahoney.

Anyone watching second captains tonight? It was on mute in the background where I was so didn't see it properly but it looked like Richie Power who was guest tonight picked Jack O'Shea to go on the wall of best Irish sportsmen.
Interesting choice from a hurler.

Interesting choice from a hurler. Saw that alright, he mentioned how he got 4 Texaco Footballer of the year awards (in a row?) and that because he wasn't in the limelight people tended to forget about him. He also mentioned about how he was such a good scorer from midfield. On that point I happened to see highlights of the 1984 or 85 final on youtube lately and Jacko scored 1-3 in the first half with the goal coming from a peno. He really was a superb player.
