St Brendan's 5-25 St Mary's 0-4 in All-Ireland semi-final Hadn't realised the Frewen had an All-Ireland element now Sem apparently had 3 goals disallowed in the first half

Until last year, U16.5 college competitions ended at Munster Final stage. Last year an All Ireland stage was introduced. Rochestown, including Kingston and Powter, beat the Sem by a point on the Wednesday. The following Saturday they won the All Ireland semi-final but were well beaten in the final. As a new grade, obviously it will take a while to synchronise the standards between the provinces - remember that the extra year in the Northern Ireland curriculum means that very few of these players will have any experience in the McRory Cup, whereas a fair few of the Sem (Chris and Niall O'Donoghue, Billy Courtney and David Shaw, Dara Moynihan, David Clifford, Donnchadh O'Sullivan) have had game time in either the Corn Ui Mhuiri or O'Sullivan Cup - I'm only guessing that's a factor. I didn't see the game but my sister was at it, she said that the Sem were always on top, Dara Moynihan and David Clifford were outstanding in a one-sided match. She was very impressed by the St. Marys supporters, cheered their team all the way through and gave them a standing ovation as they came off the pitch. Nice touch.

Where are St. Marys from? it looks very one-sided from the scoreline.

The match was played in round towers pitch in Kildare town. The Sem were big men and powered through St Mary's. It was a mismatch from beginning to end so hard to judge the merit of their performance. St Mary's are from somewhere in Derry. Good Counsel, New Ross are their opponents in the final. They won the u16 all Ireland last year and are decent again this year. However, having seen both in action, I believe the sem will be too strong for Counsel.
