Best to forget yesterday's performance maybe and not read too much into it yet. A bit of extra training and a long trip up north. I can't see Kerry winning up in Derry, but Derry haven't been flying either in their first game. They do always do well in the league though, so who knows what will happen.
Does anyone know if there is a bus going with kerry supporters from Dublin and/or Cork? I know there is one going from Kerry, but I would either have to travel to Kerry the night before and stay overnight in Kerry again after the game or stay awake all night and the second night as I wouldn't be able to make it on time to Kerry the Sunday.

I saw the Donegal Derry game on Setanta and to be honest I wouldn't fear Derry massively.
Mark Lynch was their obvious star man - he kicked some monster frees from distance and had the Donegal midfield in a fair bit of bother in the first half. However he faded significantly in the 2nd half - he looked to be carrying a bit of the Christmas dinner around underneath the geansi.
I was surprised at how Derry faded in the 2nd half - I would have thought they would have had much better fitness than Donegal given how early they were out of the championship last year and how early they would have been allowed back doing collective training as a result, especially compared to Donegal. Once Lynch went quiet Derry went very quiet - i think they got something like 3 points in the 2nd half.
Eoin Bradley only came on with about 15 minutes to go - he'd played a soccer game earlier in the day and he got 1 point pretty much straight away and looked far more dangerous in the few minutes he got on the pitch than any other Derry forward did.
The trip up north will be a nuisance but I definitely think that Kerry will be in with a shout if we play anyway reasonably even with the long list of lads missing. After seeing the Donegal game I wouldnt be surprised if Derry ended up battling relegation this year.

I wonder will there be even cameras at this? The two other Division one games on next Sunday are down for TG4.
It's a tough task, but I think we're in better shape than last year when in fairness Derry caught us by surprise. If he has shaken off that dead-leg Id like to see Tommy Walsh start in midfield.

Looking at Tommy Walsh yesterday I would think management will have to play him for every minute, regardless of form and performance levels, between now and including the Munster Final, if they want to have him competing for a place during the August/September window. He has an amount of work to put in to his game. The effort it will take from him is not to be understated. Time will tell if he has come back a better player. I'll reserve judgement for now..............

Agree. From memory twasn't til that painful Munster final replay with Cork in 09 that Tadhgy started to shine. Not being funny but I'd say big Tommy was used to the warm sun on his dhroim, and the cold conditions and heavy pitches are also mini obstacles in getting reacclimatised. Every game is dead right, but not dead leg preferably.

I actually thought Derry were unlucky enough to lose by the margin they did. The referee did them no favours what so ever and awarded some ridiculous frees to Donegal most of which were scored. The ref also played a silly advantage when Derry were attacking and did not call it back when they lost possession and Donegal went upfield and scored a goal ( a four point swing as Derry would have scored their free. They have some strong players and Bradley will be a threat if he plays the next day. Donegal did look sharper in the second half with some lightening quick counter attacks. Murphy was on the edge of the square and played for and won some frees (he does this very well holding on to his marker and falling at same time) fooling the ref in the process. MacNiallias was very good and McBrearty scored some brilliant points. They have not gone away!

MacNiallias was very good and McBrearty scored some brilliant points. They have not gone away! Yeah the ref did Derry no favours - totally agree about the Donegal goal and the ref's use of the advantage rule. However the fact that Donegal got their goal from a quick breakaway with the opposition defence out-of-position, made me wonder how many of Donegal's recent goals have come from this sort of situation. The Derry defensive effort was outrageously poor on the goal as well with Donegal allowed hand-pass and run the length of the field without a hand being put on a Donegal player. McBrearty looks to be coming along very nicely - he got one outrageous point from out in the corner. Durkan did a repeat of his All-Ireland kickout but the Derry player blazed it over for a point with the goal at his mercy. It will be interesting to see how Rory will fare with this Donegal side down the line and whether they can maintain the same sort of championship form they had under Jim- the Ulster draw is a minefield and I'd still be concerned about their squad depth & age profile.

Think this one we need to be winning. Derry had a great league last year but went out of Championship with a whimper, so they a winter team or just not that good when chips are down? All the games coming are tough, so this would be one in which to start picking up points.

All the games coming are tough, so this would be one in which to start picking up points. The Derry team that went out of the championship were missing a ton of their best players for that game they lost against Longford - they were down 6 starters from the side that had lost to Donegal by a single goal (0-11 to 1-11) in their previous game, while Longford had one of those days where pretty much everyone had a good game; - Longford had 9 different scorers that day and Paul Barden ended up with 1-2 even though Derry tried 4 different markers on him. Even still Derry only lost by 2 points. To put the result against Longford into context a bit, only ourselves and Armagh had better results versus Donegal in the championship last year. I wouldnt say this Derry side are a league team/winter - more they are a team whose performance can vary quite a bit from one day to the next and the league suits them that bit more than the knockout format of the championship as a result - In 2013 they let Down score 2-17 in the Ulster championship yet 4 weeks later in the qualifiers held them to 1-5 (both games were home games) - in last year's league they beat Dublin 1-16 to 0-13 in round 5 yet got beaten in the final 3-19 to 1-10. Basically they seem a consistently inconsistent side - they are well capable of giving the top contenders a game, but can also be easily beaten by lesser teams on another day - have gone out of the championship to Longford and Cavan in recent years.

Hard to know how this will go. Derry will be physically stronger compared to the team we had out the last day.

Kieran O'Leary out, Bryan Sheehan switched to centre forward to make way for Tommy Walsh. Defence and full forward line unchanged. Anthony Maher, Killian Young and Donnchadh Walsh back on the panel.

Sheahan to give strong option with distance foot passing, as Paul was isolated last week and we were bereft of other plans once he was being held. Would be great to see Tommy making a few of Darragh gallops after fine plucks. Get Stephen O on more ball. Direct access. If Barry John can consistently now hold his place through the league we might have a sharper Championship weapon in him than we're used. Mikey kicked on during knockout Championship last year but I think we need the same percentage improvement again. Attitude and appetite are there in spades, more composure and notches on scoreboard next up. Hoping for a bolder showing from Pa on Sunday. Jack Sherwood looked strong last week and quick, hopefully we get plenty league time into him too. Also Mark Griff isn't far off the full back requirements, just needs to be smarter in his positioning in the tackle and reading of movement. He needs regular game time throughout the league to develop against the best players. Hurley is up shortly.
That's a better balanced team, physically stronger, and stronger bench than last week. Definite prospects...
Assume they're travelling by big bird?

Too long. It would be about four hours for me from Dublin to Derry City. The day Tadhg Kennelly made his debut we played them in south Derry which was far enough of a trip. The city is that bit further. Weather should be fine this weekend, but I dont think I am going to travel.
i couldnt imagine driving from Kerry to Derry to be honest. The supporters club have a bus leaving from Farranfore, Tralee and Listowel on sunday morning.

I was contemplating of going all week, but looking less likely has the week goes on. I work weekends and I'm off this Sunday, so when I'm off I try to get to any game I can. Pity it isn't on the telly. I think the few tweaks we made should get us over the line providing we tighten up a bit in the backs. Pity it isnt on the telly or anything, but Weeshie and the lads will do.

Will be my first time in Celtic Park which,I'm told is better than it used to be. At least there's a stand unlike the previous venue. I'm also told that parking can be a problem so best to arrive early and give yourself plenty of time to walk from the city centre.

AA Route Planner are showing Sneem to Derry City to be 525.98 km with a travel time of 7 hours and 23 minutes. Anyway, Kerry might take the spoils here. Tadhg made his comeback on Derry soil in 2009 and Kerry went on to win the All-Ireland.

Google Maps is giving me 6 hours and 5 minutes from Tralee, to be exact. I'd consider it only I don't want to be doing all the driving. 2pm throw-in is a bit of a killer as well, you'd have to be up with the lark about 5 or 6 to be in good time.
Hard to get any decent idea of a game listening over the radio, hopefully Tg4 or Setanta might show the whole lot or even extended highlights during week. Although there is the distinct possibility we might see none of it at all.
