a few interesting results in this division lately, looking like a very close run in..very hard to call. Yes a tough division to call, I think Ballydonoghue and Castlegregory probably hold the best chances of promotion with maybe Lispole making the final promotion spot. That would be my prediction. Anybody could go down but Cromwne would be the team I would be most assured of, Donnchadh Walsh is too big a player to be missing in div4. Jason foley and Brian Seanachain will be big losses to Ballydonoghue whil they are with the minors. Crokes Bs need to get their act together to survive, with a lot of the so called stronger teams in the division yet to play.

could our predictions have been more wrong.. bally will win this league with ease? great team for future.. cordal are relegated it would appear.. anyone wish to predict the other two to go up/down? I think Cromane will probably go down also and the last place is a tough one to call. I cant see Crokes being relegated as they will be able to call on many of the lads involved with the seniors for the final games and could very well win the remaining 3 games. Crokes had 9 players against Dromid Pearses yesterday that played the previous Friday against Finuge in division 1 and were also without Chris Brady, Cillian Fitzgerald and Jordan Kiely who could have also played. The Crokes forward line is frightening for a division 4 side. Ballydonoghue are a serious young outfit and it would not surprise me to see them go all the way to division 1. It's extremely hard to call who will go up or down. I think the change from 2 up and down to 3 has made the county league much more enjoyable and there is very little between a side being promoted or relegated. If I had to put my head on the block I would say Cordal, Cromane and Castlegregory to go with Ballydonoghue, Senans and Crokes to go up.

Castle and churchill to meet n playoff to see who stays in Div4 wouldn't have thought these two teams b n this position. Cordal and Cromane gave walkovers not a good sign..

Cordal and Cromane gave walkovers not a good sign.. Both were already relegated in fairness.

I say the same thing every year- if a team gives a walkover then all their games should be declared null and void and 2 points awarded to every team. Essentially Castlegregory havde been given a leg up by the fact that Cordal gave them a walkover- its not a level playing field then.
Give Churchill the 2 points for the Cordal game and they stay up.

Give scart the other 2 points and they go up The whole point of a league is that all teams are assessed on the same criteria over the course of a season- Castlegregory didnt have to play Cordal- thus noone else should have had to either. Otherwise the teams are not assessed on the same basis- every team should get 2 points for their Cordal game as thats a privilege that has been allowed to Castle.

You could argue why have a play-off between Castle & Churchill given Castle already beat them in the county league.

Other than the fact that you are grossly missing my point about upholding the integrityof the league system- the idea of awarding castle any more than 2 points for a match is ridiculous

Not at all, if it was the National Football league, Castle would stay up and Churchill go down based on the head to head.

The issue of walkovers aside, something that needs to be looked at is going on head to head when teams finish on the same points in the county league. With 3 up, 3 down there are likely to be more and more playoffs to decide promotion and relegation. With the glut of fixtures each October and November, playoffs could be avoided if that rule were brought into play.
Interestingly, there are only 3 motions up for debate at the county convention that relate to fixtures issues.

Head to head is actually a smart move for future years for the reason's stated above. What are the 3 motions?

I agree on the head to head thing but I also think that if a team gives a walkover then all their games should be set as void. There is no penalty at the moment for walkovers and essentially it calls the integrity of the league into question. Following on the head to head theme- if you compared the matches that Churchill and Castle played against the same opposition then Churchill would stay up. Castle essentially didnt play a game and instead were given 2 points- its like a team starting with a handicap of +2 points in a league situation.

Maybe a stricter policy re: walkovers would cut them out and there would be no need for legislation then.
Loss of home venue for your next 3 county league games would put paid to walkovers

No team in Kerry will ever intentionally give a walk over, normally a good reason for it.
Punishment for teams who can't field 15 players is counterproductive.

Do you honestly believe that if Cordal had a chance of going up that they still would have given a walkover? Of course you dont- they would have fielded a team and probably their strongest one at that.

And no one mentioning the fixed match bewteen Ballydonoghue and St Senans to ensure they both got promoted. Look we could argue about this all day and we still wouldnt a conclusion. Ultimately there is an element of luck to when you meet a team in the county league, and thats just the way life is. We will never achieve such a balance of all teams being on a equal footing due to numerous reasons as some teams will meet others at better points in the season, playing certain teams when they dont have/have their county players, J1's, Weddings, whatever have you. In all likelyhood if you forced Cordal to field a team this weekend for the their game when they have nothing to play for, you will have a very weak Cordal team out that will get hockeyed anyway.

I agree to an extent but if there is no penalty for giving a walkover- to be honest Cordal should feel embarrassed by this whole situation. They essentially were already relegated and just threw their hat at their last match! Aye, well done lads
