Back to back 2A titles is a significant achievement particularly when you consider two teams in it are Liam McCarthy counties i.e. Carlow and Westmeath. Kerry would be ranked 13th best in the country behind the 12 in 1A and 1B. Can Kerry step into the top 12 next Saturday? Maybe. Antrim are not going great. Far from it.
Big pressure on Kerry now though heading into the Christy Ring. One Christy Ring title since its inception is a pitiful return. Hopefully will change this year. Its great that Eamon Kelly stayed on as manager - another change at the start of this season would have been a disaster.

I think the lads will be fired up for the Antrim game, last year they had Offaly rattled and were up by 8 points at one stage before fading away.

Well done to the hurlers, great achievement!! Have we any chance against Antrim now? Antrim haven't won a single game yet and have been way off. But... they had time to prepare for this game. more time than Kerry and the odds are in their favour.

Kerry hurling goalkeeper James Logue will be asked to choose between club and county this weekend.
On Saturday evening, the Kingdom face Antrim at Parnell Park in the promotion / relegation play-off to decide who plays in Division 1B next season (5:30).
Tipperary man Logue has been a key man for Kerry as they retained the Division 2A crown but his club, Ballingary, are set to open their Tipperary SHC account against Boherlahan Dualla the same evening (6:30).
As he hasn't mastered the art of bilocation, Logue will only be able to play in one of the games.
The Tipp man believes that by winning Division 2A the Kingdom should have been entitled to automatic promotion: "It doesn't really make sense. Surely if you win your division, you should be entitled to promotion?"
Just like last year we have the same issue again. This is the reason im against outside players playing. If these players are going to be playing with other counties then they should have to fully commit

The management, and if necessary the County Board, must make it clear that if Logue goes to Tipp on Saturday, he can stay there. Otherwise we have no respect for our hurlers whatsoever.

Ryan anxious ahead of Kingdom clash 08 April 2015 Antrim hurling manager Kevin Ryan Antrim hurling manager Kevin Ryan says his team are 'on a hiding to nothing' ahead of Saturday's play-off match against Kerry in Parnell Park (3pm). With their Division 1B status on the line, the Saffrons will be aiming to bounce back from the disappointment of their defeat to Laois last time out. “From the outside looking in, we would seem to have a lot more to lose than Kerry,” Ryan remarked to The Irish News. “We are almost on a hiding to nothing. If we win and play well, it is expected anyway. If we don't and we are beaten, we will be slaughtered all over the place. “You've just got to treat it as a game. It is a relegation game so there is a worry there. It is no different from a Championship game. We just have to go to try to win it and that's what we'll be doing.” Ryan confirmed that Shane McNaughton, Conor McCann and Ciaran Johnson will miss Saturday's do-or-die clash because of injury but Conor McKinley should be available. www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=235131I dunno would many be shocked if Kerry beat Antrim at the weekend,Antrim are only still in 1B because of the stupid rules that are in place. As for the weekend there is County League Football matches on Sunday involving some of the hurlers these games should be called off,the County hurling League is due to start as well at the weekend but these will surely be put back a week.

Some chance of that happening! The first round of the county league was on at the same time as Kerry's last NHL game with London so no hope of them calling off a game thats on the following day!

Should this be introduced in Football too? Would Tyrone beat Down or Derry beat Roscommon or maybe the step between Div 1 and Div 2 isn't so great? I hope to see the match as well - a rare chance of an encounter between my native county and my county of residence. And unlike the football nothing to lose and unlimited bragging rights locally if we manage to win!

Uncertainty continues to surround the availability of goalkeeper James Logue to Kerry’s hurlers for this Saturday’s Division 1A promotion/relegation final.
Kerry will tonight name their team for the Parnell Park clash with Antrim (5.30pm throw-in), which clashes with Logue's opening Tipperary senior club championship game for Ballingarry against Boherlahan-Dualla (6.30pm) in Cashel.
Logue qualifies for Kerry under rule 6.9 of the GAA Official Guide ("special eligibility provisions for hurling"). The rule also states in the event of a clash of championship fixtures between club and adopted county, the player shall line out with his club.
As Kerry v Antrim is a league game, it may be determined that the rule doesn't apply. However, technically Logue may be expected to chose Ballingarry under the legal definition "expressio unius est exclusio alterius” (to express one thing is to exclude another).
The interpretation could be that as league is a lesser competition than championship, Logue would be compelled to play in the latter competition.
Along with Clare's 2013 All-Ireland winning panellist Patrick Kelly, Logue joined up with Kerry at the start of this season. Kerry are hoping to return to the second tier of the competition for the first time under the six-team divisional system. The last time they were in Division 2 was 2011 when it was an eight-county group.

Maybe not as straightforward as I assumed then.

The GAA WEBSITE says 3pm. The post above by Hurlingman says 5.30.
It would be nice to be able to go to both this game and the Hogan Cup final. The Hogan Cup final is at 3.15

This is farcical that the goalkeeper is off playing club hurling in Tipperary while Kerry play this hugely important game at the weekend. The same thing happened last year when we were playing Offaly.
I see where there is a David Butler added to the panel. Is this the guy who went off to play with his club last year rather than play against Offaly? A farce upon farce. This is not the way to gain respectability for Kerry hurling.

Comhghairdeas mór! Outstanding achievement, they beat the system! Joining Corcaigh and Dubs as a dual Div 1 county, a day to be proud

Light the BBQ and have the serving wench bring me copious amounts of beer and wine!! What a fine achievement by the hurlers! Next year will be tough but Christy awaits this year and some serious championship hurling should they win it. The young men from the west have made this a great day by winning the Hogan Cup for the second year running! This Kerryman in France is very proud today and it is great to have 3 All-Irelands in the bag this early in the year and the county up a division in hurling; a one sport county how are ya'!

Sensational stuff and well done to the hurlers. I'm absolutely delighted for them, this is the best result in recent Kerry History.
Now lets get the final holy grail with aboth Christy Ring and promotion to the big boys there too.
