With just under a week till the cork game any news on how they are doing in training should be a tight game think they rate this year's minor team fairly high in cork. Would be hoping that kerry with home advantage will come through in a close encounter. The stakes are high with one county minor team's season over before the middle of may

I suppose whether they are under age next year is irrelevant, the 24 that Jack has gone with is obviously the best that is available to him over the course of the year one or two injuries haven't helped but if their good enough their old enough,we'll find out Wednesday because if the rumours are true this cork team are very highly rated and kerry will have to be at their very best; here's hoping they are.

Cork have 3 serious forwards that will take watching.Stephen Sherlock from St.Finbarrs is good at corner forward.Speedy player.Gary Murphy at no.11 from Castletownbere big strong player and their best player is Shane Kingston from Douglas. He's their main scorer from frees and play.He was on their team last year. He's a good hurler too.

I think this Cork team are overrated and to be honest lads are playing down Kerry a bit! You could have 24 lads at 17 on the panel and it shouldn't make a difference! Were on about inexperienced players? For god sakes these are minors were on about.. It's the beginning of their inter county career what experience would they have up to this both sides are just as experienced as each other! Kerry are a good side, a balanced side compared to Cork who have IMO a poor back line, an average midfield, Dan O Duininn I believe is bring played out of position, and fair enough they have a few nice forwards! Gary Murphy named at full forward is a class act Jason Foley is in for a real battle with this guy. Sherlock in the corner is also a good player and Shane Kingston named on the forty is a decent player but is talked up a little bit. All in all I think Kerry are a better side overall and if Kerry are tight at the back and if Conor Geaney and Stephen O Sullivan bring their A game up front id be quite confident Kerry would do the business.

This is a decent Kerry team and they have done ok against Cork as they came through the underage development squad tournaments over the past few years. Kerry had five quaterfinal teams in the Munster colleges compared to two from Cork. Of course they lack experience - looking at the U17's in the team/squad they are good players and whereas one could argue for a few lads that did not make the squad (as is the case every years with minors) they have every chance of getting over the Cork hurdle on Wednesday. Of far greater importance with minors is that they do themselves justice and deliver a performance - several of the team know that they can and need to up their game from the Clare match and the experience of the mentors will hopefully have our boys motoring well on the day. Hopefully a big Kerry support will cheer them and make the most of the home venue.

I fully expect Kerry to win this game. Because:
(1) They have a very healthy spread of clubs represented. (2) The incredible success that schools at all levels have delivered this year. Many of these players have not made it on to the team but it shows a high standard of under-age football. (3) Home advantage (4) A proven manager (5) “They are Kerry”
9 of the Cork team are from 3 clubs.

I expect us to win also but you can never tell with Minors. This is not the best Cork team but they do have some good players.I expect us to win the midfield battle and that should give us the platform to get the scores we need.Kingston is named at 11 but I would not be surprised if he went in full forward at the start.

PCD win their 2nd Hogan cup in a row yet can only get 2 players on the starting line up. . . . if thats the case then we should be more than confident in those who are starting to get the job done.

Any insight as to why the change was made in the full-back line?
Having been at the Clare game I think any challenge for the All-Ireland this year will be based on the backs and midfield. Unsure if there's a marquee forward there this year along the lines of Spillane, O'Sé and Burns last year but hopefully a win is achieved tomorrow night.

There is a third PCD player on the bench (played against Clare) and two or three of the influential PCD lads are overage for Minor - schools competition us under 18.5.

Cork are short 4-5 due to commitments to other sports. And this particular management team's reputation is very poor. Would fancy Kerry by 5-6 points.
Powter, Kingston and Murphy are the future senior talents for Cork.

Tom Bushe gave an awesome display at centre back when Rochestown beat the Sem by a point in the Frewen Cup Final last year, one of the best displays I've seen. I don't know whether Ephie Fitzgerald is respected in Cork, my understanding is that he was in the running to replace Conor Counihan at one stage. Certainly he would be very highly respected around Munster, including Kerry - on the very few occasions where I met him, I found him to be a complete gentleman as well. I genuinely consider this to be one of the best Cork minor teams that I have seen. I will of course be cheering for Kerry but we will most definitely be underdogs here. Ah well, cry havoc, and let slip the dogs....

I think we will be up against it tomorrow night. Gary Murphy is the one to watch tomorrow, saw Cork play twice last year and on both occasions he was their most impressive player, especially in the game they lost to Dublin. Key to the game is midfield and the distribution into the two boys in the corner, if we can get good quick ball into them, they will win the game for us.
Anyone hear any word on Andrew Barry? He is big loss and I was told he played 30 mins in a Senior club game a few weeks back so was surprised when I seen his name so far down the teamsheet.

Has had nothing to do with the Cork Minor team since 2013.

Apologies on both counts. Made a bit of an eejit of myself there, not for the first time or the last. I thought it was Tom Bushe that played against the Sem that day in Mallow. Kingston was corner forward and very good, but that number 6 was stunning, I must try and track down who he was. I'm guessing it must have been Powter, just from the quality.

Not to sure what to expect tonight in the one ear hearing this cork team are highly rated and aiming to be around in September and then I hear forwards good backs poor and kerry should be winning by 4or5 point's I guess with the exception of last year we haven't been great v cork in recent times or tipp, tonight we should find out I would expect if the game is tight home venue might be to our advantage
