Best of luck to the minors tonight hopefully the start of a journey that will end in croke park in September on a side issue a bit dissapointing to have a full round of under 14 fixtures for parent's with players involved who would of like to bring their young fellas into the minor game

Looking forward to this game tonight. Its great to see John Mark Foley at midfield, making total nonsense of the myth you've to be playing Senior County League to make the County minor team. If you're playing well enough with your school or minor team, you will be spotted. A Beale man at number 14 brings back some good memories!!!!

Tom Gega OConnor's grand nephew captains the team. Lovely. You just can't bate tradition. Also nephew of Tommy Doyle as far as I know. If the genes have anything to do with it, he's got it cracked!

Kerry 0-14 Clare 0-3
Paul Brennan reports from Austin Stack Park, Tralee KERRY MADE A comfortable start to the defence of their Munster and All-Ireland titles when they accounted for Clare with minimum fuss at Austin Stack Park, Tralee tonight. Manager Jack O’Connor will pleased that his team, of which Mark O’Connor was the only starter from the side that started against Donegal in last year’s All-Ireland final, negotiated this first round match with plenty to spare, but he will doubtless be disappointed with what was a patchy and flat performance. Kerry took just 14 of 27 scoring chances and barely threatened the Clare goal, and O’Connor will know that much improvement is needed ahead of what is a knockout Munster semi-final with Cork, It took seven minutes before Kerry got their first score, but once the excellent Conor Geaney opened the Kingdom’s account the scores came with regularity from there to the end of what was never really a meaningful contest. By half time Kerry led by 0-10 to 0-1, Geaney posting four points from play, with Stephen O’Sullivan, in the other corner, raising two flags. Kerry’s first nine points came from play, an indication of Clare’s inability to marshal any sort of defence against the champions, with Cormac Linnane’s 31st minute converted free making it a round 10 points for Kerry at the break. Clare’s sole score was a 16th minute Keelan Sexton free; the only one of four scoring chances the Banner took in the opening half. Clare got the first score of the second half, a Sexton free, and while remaining dominant Kerry managed just four points in a lacklustre second half. Gavin White clipped a score in the 41st minute and Evan Cronin added another in the 17th minute. The final quarter was notable only for two frees converted by the respective goalkeepers, Billy Courtney for Kerry in the 20th minute and Killian Roche pointed Clare’s third and final score in the 58th minute. Scorers for Kerry: Conor Geaney 0-4, Stephen O’Sullivan, Cormac Linnane (0-1f) 0-2 each, Mark O’Connor, Bryan Sweeney, Gavin White, Evan Cronin, Billy Courtney, Michael Foley 0-1 each. Scorers for Clare: Keelan Sexton 0-2 (0-2f), Killian Roche 0-1 (0-1f). Kerry

Thanks premier, hard to believe that one of these two team's will be out of the minor championship before the end of may I would be a lot more confident of kerry winning if it were at home would be great to see a kerry team win at pairc ui rinn this year after the defeat of the under 21s and senior's there this year

Where will kerry meet cork in the semi final Pairc Ui Rinn Our record down there at all grades is very poor. Cork will be favourites there again.

Why will the game be on in Pairc Ui Rinn? We played Cork away in Pairc ui Chaoimh last year. In 2013 we drew in Pairc ui Rinn and lost the replay in Austin Stack Park. Does the home and away arrangement not apply?

My understanding is the game will be held in AS Park. As it is also a semi final, the losers will not have a back door and will be out of Munster and All Ireland series. As to the make up of the team, very little would have been learned against a very weak Clare team. The Kerry forwards are certainly inferior to last years crop. That is no surprise. I also suspect that a few players who were not considered for the game owing to recent injuries that precluded them training - Jack Morgan (Sub), Andrew Barry (Extended Panel) and Michael O'Donnell (Neither Sub nor EP) - should all be in the mix for the Cork game which is do or die. All 3 would improve the team and are better and stronger than what is there. However, the forward line still needs tweaking.

Game is definitely in Pairc Ui Rinn. Last years final doesn't count towards hone/away arrangement.

Game is fixed for Cork lads. Munster Final last year has no bearing as that was based on home/away agreement at Senior level.

Great crowd in Tralee last night. Slow start. Geaney was excellent throughout as was O' Connor in the middle and Foley at full-back. 8 or 9 different scorers but alot of loose play in the second half.
Cork game will be the test.

I am sure the management would have preferred a better test in preparation for Cork - Clare were extremely poor and its difficult to assess the performance of our team in the light of the opposition. That said there were some promising performances and a lot of players got their first taste of intercounty championship football. Meeting Cork in the SF is the crucial game of the year - lose and that is the end for this team, win and they are guaranteed football until the August bank holiday weekend at least (including a likely Munster Final in Killarney) - a true championship encounter with no fail safe. It will be tough but they are capable of doing it.

Anyone know are this current cork team rated highly or would this kerry minor team be expected to be stronger going on past game's in the academy though I know kerry would be split up until under 16

Kerry South won it out 2 years ago, beating one Cork team comfortably and beating Tipp by 2 pts in the final. Tipp beat Kerry North and the other Cork team en route. Very little correlation between u16 and minor results I'd say.

Colleges results are another indicator of possible form but remember this is under 18.5 so strength can come from players not eligible for the Minor grade. In colleges this year both Cork and Kerry had 6 teams in the A competition - 2 of the Cork six made the quarter finals but 5 of the Kerry six made the quarters. Of course the final was a close encounter having to go to a replay before PCD won out and went on to retain the Hogan Cup itself. Every reason to be optimistic but of course it will require a performance from our lads - Cork will battle to the final whistle.

Kerry I believe are seeking home venue for Cork game due to having played in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last year- it's a home /away arrangement and the argument is that it's Corks turn to come to Kerry- finals have to count- be interesting to see the outcome on this. Word on Cork is that they have very good forwards but a poor defence- probably the opposite of what we have. Kingston & Murphy caused us a lot of problems last year and remain. Andrew Barry will be available for this game as he lines out for Na Gaeil this week end- a big game for both sides, venue could be crucial.

The word I am hearing on Cork is that they are the strongest Cork team in years and Kerry will be huge underdogs. That's not playing 'yerra' - I would never talk up a Kerry team, but I would never talk one down either. I follow colleges football a fair bit and I have a lot of friends and some relatives in Cork - that's not for one second pretending that I know as much as any Cork supporter, but a lot of these names are familiar to me before they made the Cork minors. On paper - and these things are always only paper speculation - that's the best Cork minor team in terms of potential that I have seen. JC O'Shea of sidelineeye.com has a clip posted on you tube of a goal scored by Dan Dineen for Colaiste Ghobnatan against Causeway - well worth a look (mind you, I'd be playing him at 11 instead of 7). Whether the reality matches the potential is the question about Cork, but Kerry are well up against it here.

Fairly tragic defending from the Causeway lads in fairness, the other one against Adrscoil Rath Iomghain was better. You'd hope Kerry's defence would hold up better than a C colleges team. Both goals here

Austin Stack Park to host Cork and Kerry minors in Munster semi-final
Wednesday, April 22, 2015 By Murt Murphy
The Electric Ireland Munster MFC semi-final between Kerry and Cork will take place in Austin Stack Park, Tralee after the Munster Council moved to clarify confusion around the venue for the last-four tie.
Following wins for Cork against Limerick and Kerry over Waterford last Wednesday, the provincial website indicated that the sides would meet in Páirc Uí Rinn.
While the counties met in last year’s final in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, it was believed that this fell outside of the home-and-away arrangement, as the minor game is tied to the senior decider.
Following discussions, however, it has now been established that the game did count towards the arrangement and so Kerry were deemed to be the hosts on this occasion.
The game will take place on Wednesday, May 13, starting at 7.30pm.
“It was always our understanding that the game would be held at a Kerry venue, probably Tralee,” Cork County Board PRO Edmond Forrest said last night.
“Our arrangement with Kerry at all levels is to switch home advantage for every second game, regardless of what round it might be, there’s no special provision made for finals.
“We’re happy that that remains the case and we’ll look forward to travelling to Tralee in three weeks’ time.”
Interestingly, in 2004 Kerry and Cork met in the minor final in Limerick as a curtain-raiser to the senior final between Limerick and Kerry.
When that game was drawn, the replay was held in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, as it was Cork’s turn to host, with the last match before the drawn game having been held in Kerry.

Limerick came back from 8 points down at half-time to beat Waterford earlier.
Limerick had 10 losses in a row at minor level prior to tonight so fair to say that was some show of resilience/spirit by the Limerick lads.
They play Clare next week and the winner of that play Tipp in the other semi-final
