Think ALL our games will be in Killarney due to the re development of Austin Stack Park which is scheduled to begin in early 2015.

Thanks givehimaball
That's a sore blow to Tralee. Originally the Dublin game was listed for the Saturday night, and you could expect the Dubs to bring a crowd.

Thats a pity about the Dublin game. I was planning on bringing a few Scobies down with me for a weekend of it.

Think ALL our games will be in Killarney due to the re development of Austin Stack Park which is scheduled to begin in early 2015. What are the redevelopment plans for Stacks Park? , The plans seem modest enough. A new scoreboard, some terracing, perhaps at the Clash end which is a grass bank, improving the floodlights (this should be the priority!), and presumably some work on improving the surface. Killarney is great, but Stacks Park is more suitable for games with smaller crowds as it holds an atmosphere well. There is a great opportunity for a real upgrade at present. Aldi have moved into the Mitchels pitch. There is a reasonable sized piece of ground "left over" at the Stacks Park end. The most likely thing to happen I would imagine is that some retail units would go there. At the moment it is quite unsightly waste ground. This is a great opportunity for the County Board to provide a meaningful upgrade to Stacks Park by doing the following: 1) Acquire the piece of "waste ground" behind the Mitchels end. 2) Build a new pavillion/county board HQ here. A small terracing or seating capacity could be incorporated into this structure. 3) Knock the existing pavillion. 4) Extend the stand as far as the Clash endline. I know this would cost a bit, but I think it would be worthwhile.

Stacks Park had a entire rebuild (except for the Pavillion) around 1990. It is a great pity that they didn't put the terrace exactly parallel with the railway line and move the pitch a few degrees. There is a corner at the stand side hemmed in by the road. Such a move would really have eased that.

The only time there was any few people on the grass bank behind the goals at the Horans end was the game against Sligo. And that was only on in Tralee cos of the concert in Killarney so again I dont think it would be worthwhile terracing this area. The cost of that prime piece of retail space would be prohibitive. The finances are currently concentrated on the Currens and IT development and rightly so. I think the facilities are ok in Austin Stack Park, with the exception of the floodlights as you point out.

Hereunder is the Division one Football schedule for 2015. I know in the early stages there will be quiet a few of the senior players from the top four or five teams missing as their respective managers will want to rest them until the sun casts a shorter shadow on the fields. Just wondering before a ball is kicked in anger what the opinions are in relation to relegation from this extremely difficult group. Kerry and Mayo are out first and this game will have bite to it but i think almost every game will be difficult due to the fact that this year the top eight teams are definately in this group so there will be a major effort as every team has a real point to prove that they are a top tier team, should be very interesting,, Division 1 Round 1 (31 January/1 February): Cork v Dublin, Donegal v Derry, Kerry v Mayo Tyrone v Monaghan Round 2 (7/8 February): Derry v Kerry, Dublin v Donegal, Mayo v Tyrone; Monaghan v Cork Round 3 (28 February/1 March): Donegal v Cork , Kerry v Dublin, Mayo v Monaghan, Tyrone v Derry Round 4 (7/8 March): Cork v Kerry, Derry v Mayo, Donegal v Monaghan, Dublin v Tyrone Round 5 (14/15 March): Kerry v Donegal, Mayo v Dublin, Monaghan v Derry, Tyrone v Cork Round 6 (28/29 March): Cork v Mayo, Donegal v Tyrone, Dublin v Derry, Kerry v Monaghan Round 7 (5 April): Derry v Cork, Mayo v Donegal, Monaghan v Dublin, Tyrone v Kerry

Staying up will not be easy.
This will be the first NFL campaign in a while where Crokes players will be available from the start. Daithi Casey is surely in line for a run in the team.
I would like to see established panel players like Pa Kilkenny and Jonathan Lyne get a good run in the team.
Jack Sherwood had an unlucky 2014 - hopefully he can stake a claim.

Good point on the Crokes players. It's no harm that they play a little less football this winter, they've been putting up alot of mileage in the past few years.

Considering half the Div 1 teams are "Northern" (and 11 of the top 16 teams are from Ulster/Leinster), it's not surprising those provinces are heavily featured. Maybe the fixture list says more about the standard of the other two provinces.

It's not about provinces but it is about the current all- Ireland champions and cork and tipp who are a far better team than some of those that will be televised but it is setanta the tv3 of sport so it's no wonder that they focus in on the leinster teams and of course the northern type football. Muck is right.

Law of averages would point towards this scenario...add in the fact that Munster is Ireland's only hurling province!! lol But in some respects the National League is predominantly muck type football with watery aspects thrown in, so it's not just about the Northern and Leinster teams.!!

Come on-thats an extremely poor attempt at logic! I'm actually not that bothered by the situation (as i will go to as many games as possoble) but I do think that it is a bit odd. All hilarious banter comments aside- it is odd that the best team in the country are not being shown during the league
