I expect mayo to win by 3-6 points tomorrow. Experience tends to count for a lot in these games and I expect that to be a crucial factor.
There are simply too many question marks over several of our players. To date we have done well but tomorrow will be another level again.

Good to see some balance to what seems to be hard game to call Ciarrai abu say s Mayo by 3 to 6 points Kerry have only two scoring forwards !!! thats not good enough If Mayo manage to shut these two down then weare in trouble . Where are the scores going to come from When did Maher or Moran last threaten to score? If i am a Seamus O Shea and Jason Gibbon or Vaughan why would i ever stay back and keep an eye on the kerry midfield they offer no threat whatsoever at scoring ? So Now that gives Mayo two or three extra attackers putting over powering pressure on our backs? And Our wing Forwards Donnacha and Mike Geaney are more defensive than attack minded and are very little threat either . Our wing backs dont score either and so Mayos 10 and 12 need not track back at all putting further pressure on our backs ? We seem to be a one trick Pony going into this game lets hope that one trick works ??

And I agree that Dara Ó Cinnéide's article is of Con Houlihan standard even if the flow was often interrupted to search for meanings and which is uncharacteristic. I wonder who his ghost writer is

I don't expect us to win tomorrow, I believe Mayo will be that bit too strong. That said I didn't expect us to go to pairc ui chaoimh and annihilate cork. Given all of the retirements last year and our indifferent form, at times, during the league, I didn't think we would make the semi final at the end of August.
Therefore, I live in hope. I can't wait for tomorrow, I really hope we can give a performance, I hope that our older statesmen can find a flurry of youthful energy for 60-70 minutes, I hope Jameso and Geaney light up the scoreboard, I hope we do enough to make the final. Hope springs eternal. Ciarraí abú & safe travel to all supporters tomorrow.

There is as much pressure on Kerry...Kerry lose and the axe will be out for Fitzmaurice, rebuilding a team or not win lose or draw eamonn has done a great job in difficult circumstances he has won 2 munster senior titles last 2 seasons with an all Ireland colleges title with Dingle thrown in. top class manager.

Travelling with much more hope than confidence- must be the most inexperienced team in a semi final since Micko took his charges in '75- at best we will have 3 starters with All Ireland medals- add in the doubts about Declan, Darran & Bryan and we are really shorn of experience- still, we trust in those selected and here' s hoping we are planning for the 3rd Sunday in Sept!!

Kerry couldn't beat 14. What chance against a full-strength Mayo? Today Mayo played us off the field in the second half and a repeat of that will not see Kerry prevail next weekend.

We are harsh and there was clear and unwarranted pessimism. Kerry have every chance of winning Sam and is it that all our positive thinkers have abandoned the site and/or the country?
Today was the best day in my life as a Kerry supporter and it reminded me of Denis Brosnan expecting his successors to be better than him, and they obliged, although I don't know how much was modesty and how much was an order? Fitzie is the same and has he arrived? A team in transformation having lost key soldiers and we are still on for Sam.
John B said it was easier to write than not to write in Kerry and most just thought it was kind encouragement, some took it as obligation. Fitzie could go on to be another Dwyer. maybe better as he has the benefit of Micko's experience passed on.
I was stood on the kitchen table the day of the Bomber's hat-trick, the only reason I wasn't there today was because I wasn't in the kitchen. KOL was so confident on the ball with such a pressure shot and as was James with the goal. Contrary to what a genetics expert in Trinity College argued about the existence of The Kerry Ingredient, footballers breed footballers and David Moran played better today that I ever remember Ogie to play, and that is saying something, and no offense to Ogie. Maher had his best game for a long time, probably emptied the tank. and what about our star Goalie, Donnachadh, Buckley, and the erst?
The talent coming through have been nurtured to perfection so thanks again to Eamonn & Co. What a proud day for football too and of course I include Mayo in that.
Now as the 16th man we need to be positive an here!

Any opinions on Kelly kicking ball after ball down the middle to O Shea.
I will put up a small few photos later. I didnt take very many because I was too busy having a nervous breakdown.

Positive yes. We were outscored and outperformed in that second-half, the business end of proceedings, by 14 men which is the reality. If we play like that for 50 minutes next week then we may draw the curtains on our pretensions for this year. It is often the case that 14 men steel themselves to the task with greater application but to be outperformed to the extent that Kerry were today is a worry. Eamon Fitzmaurice will have much to ponder upon and can take some solace from Kerry having had the upper hand at the end of Act 1. What twists, plots and intrigues await us in Act 2? An Riocht go Deo!

I thought it happened only once? But I too was having a nervous breakdown; that one time he did do it was baffling, AOS was standing there all on his own! We didn't make enough use of the free man either though.

Hard to know how to feel after this one. Unlike previous years we finished strong, and showed great resolve to earn a draw. On the negative side of things we blew a 5 point lead with an extra man.
Defenders were extremely lose to day, especially Marc who may come under pressure to keep his spot.
Great to see our midfielder's doing so well, much better from Maher and about time too. Moran was a real leader out there today, worked tirelessly, great footpassing and scored two majestic points; there are few players his size in the country with his level of skill.
Said during the week that we would need a big scoring contribution from our Half Forwards, and we got it. I think they scored 4/5 points from play in the 2st half, whilst also doing trojan work. Don't know what Donnacha did to pi$$ off McGoldrick, horrendous refereeing on his part with regards to how he refereed the tackle differently for both teams; Eamon needs to get some clarification from the powers that be over this during the week.
Anyone know how bad Darren's injury is? Great to see Star making such a contribution also, really rolled back the years with that goal. And Declan and Brian clearly weren't fit; would be best for us to get this game pushed back a week as per Mayo's request.

I agree Seamo, this was a bittersweet match. Bitter in the way that we disappeared in the second-half and sweet with the outcome. In the first-half we had buckets of possession and should have been further ahead but this problem of not being able to manage our game and allowing good leads to slip resurfaced. Will Donaghy be back to annoy the Mayo full-back line as a starter? It will certainly be considered. The midfield looked good, the half-forwards were very good but the same cannot be said of the defence. When in possession in the first-half there was far too much lateral if not backward passing and when we were more direct the results were there to be seen. This is a good Kerry team in the making but the defence really needs to be addressed as it is our achilles heel. I watched this game through my fingers and at times from a distance as I walked away as yet another simple pass went to a red-clad player. As I live in rural France I have to watch on my own (no football lovers here!) and I am a poor watcher when alone but I promise that I will watch every second next week tough as it will be! I know Eamon will rectify the problems as this team is improving all the time.

Mayo can crib with justification about the Keegan red card, but Coldrick gave us f*ck all else, Mayo got several scores from frees that we weren't getting in similar situations.

Keegans red card was ridiculous on his part. But the rule is that if you kick an opponent its a straight red. He didnt kick hard, but he kicked. He only has himself to blame. If that gets overturned on appeal then they should just tear up the rule book.

Overall David Coldrick has had better days. And he is the fella they chose to make a video about the new rules.

Must be a positive that in last 6 minutes Kerry did not buckle, kept their heads, won Mayo kick outs and played their way back, the right way.
