Simply by naming a senior panel at the start of the year that has absolutely no relation to the actual panel that starts the championship, therefore allowing players to start in the Intermediate championship and remain eligible for the senior championship. Is that hard to understand? Do you need me to draw it out for you in crayons to make it clearer? Can you understand reality? So now you say they can play in both? Before you said they should be totally different teams? Make up your mind for god sake. What I was referring to is what actually happens and had to be acted upon. Read the whole scenario if you are able to. But clearly that doesn't work as the County Board had to change the rules this year re the Senior & Intermediate Championship and that pissed off the NK clubs. Jesus, the ignorance is phucking astounding. The only ones who were pissed off where the SK teams because they couldn't won it. Again explain how is it fair on the NK teams? Or as i said is it only the SK teams that it should be made fairer for? They could not win it as the NK teams were loading their Intermediate team with Senior players before the senior championship had started. Are you semi-literate by any chance? who mentioned panels? one last time - rule out the 15 players that started last senior championship game and all players on county christy ring panel. how is that not so hard to understand? Because that doesn't suit the poor helpless SK teams who would rather the Intermediate be made weaker so they can win it instead of actually putting in the effort of beating the NK teams in it. The Intermediate championship should be for Intermediate teams with Intermediate players. Something the County Board have clearly agreed upon by changing the start date of the Intermediate Championship. For an alleged 'Hurlingman' you are not very smart to what actually goes on. But that would tally with you in real life, wouldn't it now?

Clubs do name a first 15 which is usually the starting 15 from their last championship game the year before, they then name a second 15 for Division 2 and the Intermediate Championship and in some cases a third 15 for Division 3 and the Juinor Championship, all the clubs meet up at the start of the year and discuss these teams, some players get upgraded and some get down graded for various reasons,I dont know if the South Kerry clubs attend these meetings or not. Any fella that is going well with the Intermediates will be pushing close to the Senior team for championship but if their only coming on as a sub then they should be allowed play Intermediate,if the player is starting for the Seniors though then they should be ruled out of the Intermediate Championship. at last someone gets it! , why penalise a sub for playing 5 min of senior hurling. let him play intermediate. common sense![ not very common in this debate] the problem in naming panels is that anyone who retires , longterm injury or gone to oz gets is put on first 15. every club north and south kerry does it.

Or for your fate in the mighty Crokes for that matter. You're some man for making excuses ill give you that. Im all for hurling in SK being stronger but weaken the Intermediate so they can win it is not the way to go. Talk all the bs you want about making it ''fairer'' but they just want to pick up handy titles. Again why are you ignoring the Crokes junior teams over the last few years using senior players in football? Seeing as you're so outraged with this. Or is it only an issue when Crokes are on the other end? No need to worry at least Crokes still have the football championship, oh wait no they dont do they?

look folks the situation with the intermediate championship was ridiculous.
In other counties the minute you play a minute at senior championship level you are then ineligible for your clubs second team in intermediate or junior championship competitions. How it ever ended up any different in Kerry is a bit bizarre. Can anyone tell me any other county where this is allowed? For feck sake the reality of the matter is that you could win an intermediate championship medal for your club and then play every single game in the senior championship and win a senior medal as well!
People should ask themselves the above questions rather than getting into North Kerry or South Kerry\Crokes bashing. I have played in other counties. The minute you play in the higher level championship you are graded out of the lower championship is usually the situation. League doesn't really come into the equation which is fair

really accurate journalism from the Kerryman re the hurling final
apparently Michael Conway rounded his man Trevor McKenna to shoot on goal and got his second yellow for a foul on Trevor McKenna. Last time I checked Conway and McKenna are team mates for the best part of 15 years at adult level for Lixnaw!!

At least you are consistently petty & spiteful both online and in real life. And you are correct Crokes do not have the Senior Football County Championship this year for the first time in 4 years. We'll have to make do with just having Sam in our massive trophy cabinet and the All-Ireland winning Captain.....

This from the paper who tipped Cork and Mayo twice. It should in fact have said WE SAID WE COULDNT DO IT.

Since when does the captains club keep the cup?

Since when does the captains club keep the cup? It was a figurative trophy cabinet not a literal trophy cabinet. It's the same as saying 'Sam is coming home' when in reality Sam doesn't actually have a home. We also don't actually have a massive trophy cabinet in our fine clubhouse in Lewis Road as I'm sure you've noticed when you have been down to our 'Field of Dreams' there. However we do have a massive one in the figurative sense. You really have a gripe (or grip (sic) as you like to say yourself) with me don't you?

minor final on today, lixnaw v south kerry. this south kerry team has put in great effort over the years. at u 14 they went training for a weekend up in kilkenny under brian cody. contains 7 county minors plus john mark foley who probably the best hurler to come out of the district since his uncles. micheal burns and killian spillane are also available to play. the timing of the final is very unfair on lixnaw especially the players involved with senior team. drawn game last sunday , replay next sat. will they risk these players?
the crokes players involved could do the first leg of a minor double, while fionan o sullivan kenmare has already won u21 football, intermediate hurling and is going for a hatrick. who will win depends whether the lixnaw selectors gamble on senior players

I believe 1953 was the last time it was done when a half dozen Kilmoyley lads won a minor hurling with kilmoyley and a football with the Brendans Board team. Michael Burns played for South Kerry minors last year so could see him featuring tomorrow.

I think Kilmoyleys day will come next year anyway so I hope Lixnaw win it on saturday. They have lost a lot of finals and they are spreading themselves very thin between between football and hurling and falling between two stools.

Very similar to last years replay,Kilmoyley like St Brendan's had alot of lads playing their first county final in the drawn game and I think that will stand to them the next day,all the nerves should be gone now and I think they will just shade it this time out.

Was the Junior final not fixed for Saturday as well? Would have been a good experience for the players. The more double headers when it comes to finals the better i think

Lixnaw got 1.12 in the first half and didn't score in the second half but won by 3 points.
Great achievement given how long they have been on the road. Paul Galvin return to hurling probably the reason they got over the line in 2014. I think that this is the fifth year in a row that Lixnaw have beaten Kilmoyley in the championship. Talk about have an indian sign over a team.

Overall not a bad game today i thought, better then the first day anyway. A real game of two haves if ever there was one. Simple mistakes in the first half cost Kilmoyley and its hard to know what happened to Lixnaw in the second half. Sure must be some kind of record to not score for a whole half and still win!
Although he wasn't at his best today Paul Gavlin made a huge difference to Lixnaw this year and as has been said is probably the reason they got over the line. In the first half Enda Gavlin really rolled back the years would go great scores. Could give the Munster championship a good go i think

john griffin gave a masterful display of midfield play today, he totally dominated the first half and scored some great points. shipped a heavy tackle just before half time. kilmoyley fell to pieces once livnaw goaled in the first half. lixnaw scored some superb points by the 2 galvins and ricky heffernan as well. second half kilmoyley battled but never looked like getting a goal. very disjointed in the forwards and will regret wides from frees and long clearances. overall a good game to finish the championship.

Lixnaw just about deserved to win on Saturday, after James Flaherty got the goal they played some great stuff,Enda Galvin scored some great points,John Griffin was everywhere picking up the breaks,I dont think they will be too worried about the second half performance these lads have lost so many finals over the past few years Saturday was all about winning.
Kilmoyley have to be praised for the second half, they fought back well and could have snatched a draw, they just couldnt work the goal chance that they needed,a lot of their team are young enough and Im sure they will be close to winning it again next year.
Good enough game to finish up a champioship that was very poor over all.

Good enough game to finish up a champioship that was very poor over all. It was a masterstroke by Lixnaw to recall Enda Galvin. He tormented Kilmoyley in the 1st half. Lixnaw were on fire for the 20 mins before half time. Paul Galvin and John Griffin took over midfield and Enda Galvin was running the show in the forwards with James Flaherty. The loss of Paul Galvin through injury in the 2nd half was a big setback for Lixnaw and they needed resolute defending from Trevor McKenna, the Corridans and Dara Shanahan to survive in the end Kilmoyley will regret not springing James McCarthy a bit sooner. He might have helped break Lixnaw's purple patch earlier if brought on before half time. They will also rue some poor shooting and poor use of possession People talk a lot about Lixnaw's lost finals but its kind of a golden era for Lixnaw hurling. They have won the championship in 1999, 2005, 2007 and 2014. They never had such a fruitful period. They might one or two more in that period if they had Paul Galvin more. He now has 4 senior hurling championships with Lixnaw as have Trevor McKenna, Mike Conway and Enda Galvin

great win for Lixnaw especially with John Griffin and Paul Galvin missing
Ballyhea were short two forwards through suspension which offset the loss of Galvin and Griffin
Lixnaw were lucky to have a man of Mike Conway's ability to bring into the team. It really is a dream year for Lixnaw - minor and senior county hurling titles and Eamonn Fitz guiding Kerry to All Ireland success. The success of the hurling club isn't really a surprise - Lixnaw run a very good club.

Kerry chairman Patrick O’Sullivan has welcomed the latest statement by a hurling club from the county in the Munster IHC.
However, he warns much more work has to be done on the game in the Kingdom.
Lixnaw’s quarter-final win over Cork champions Ballyhea was a turn-up for the books even though they led by seven points at half-time.
“To be honest, over the last few years the standard of the senior championship has been very good,” said O’Sullivan. “Ballyduff reached the Munster final two years ago and last year Munster probably came too quick for St Brendan’s.
“To Lixnaw’s credit, they were excellent in this year’s championship and they would have fancied their chances of beating Ballyhea. At one stage, they were eight points up and that’s a testament to the fight that they carried throughout the game. It’s a credit to them and they’re a credit to Kerry.”
O’Sullivan is hoping recent funding commitments on top of a soon-to-be-released strategic plan for hurling in the county will produce more greenshoots in Kerry hurling.
“Things are improving slowly but until we get the base right at under-age level we’re not going to make significant progress. It’s about getting the right people in charge of teams and with the money from Croke Park we’ll be investing in proper development squads and the Causeway school will be a large part of that.
“The big question for Kerry is how are we going to get more people playing the game in the south of the county in areas like Kenmare, Killarney and Tralee. Our hurling teams are playing each other almost week-in, week-out.
When we have teams from those towns competing with the established clubs we’ll know we’re going places.
“We can’t do everything from the start, we’ll have to cherrypick teams initially. Gerald McCarthy and the hurling steering group are putting the final touches to their plan and will soon be presenting to the hurling chairman, secretary and myself.
