Great display today by Kerry . I have been critical of Enright in the past but he had a great game today . Kept their best forward quiet . Declan O'Sullivan did some running and ran his heart out . Johnny Buckley too showed great work rate . Geaney , O'Brien and O'Donoghue outstanding . Maher and Sheehan dominated and all the backs were solid . Cork were terrible . Destroyed at Midfield . Cadogan and Shields were terrible . No cork player really stood out . I still think if they get it together they could make the semis . Kerry were good but lets not get carried away tougher games lie ahead but we will enjoy this .

Great Team display today. Fitness levels were good. Albeit it was a poor display from Cork. Delighted for Shane Enright. He did a real "Tom O Sullivan" job on Brian Hurley. When will we know the dates for our quarter final does anyone know? First weekend in August

Kerry in full flow like that are a joy to behold. We have unearthed another genius in O Donoghue. Yes Cork were very poor but every time a Kerry side run riot too much is put down to failure of other side - Kerry blitzing mayo in 04 & 06 for example - sometimes it's hard to stop a juggernaut and heads drop Attachments:

I see Paddy Power have us second favourites now at 5/1 - Mayo will probably go above us if they beat Galway tho on that form I'd have no fear of Mayo

I hope that I'm wrong but I cant see us us getting within 5 pts of Cork, which would be acceptable given the injuries etc, if we dont get a decent start & settle early on it could be a shambles. It just goes to show what I know 8- Unbelievable performance, cork were poor but Kerry never left them settle. Its a lot more promising than a lot of people thought. James O Donoghue was a class apart, no harm to give Shields & Cadogan a bit of a roasting.

This game is like most annual renewals, unpredictable, and even when it was predictable it never went off or turned out as expected, or even half expected, all characteristic of a local derby of titans. Anyone who gets any prediction remotely right, even half right, deserves a medal for that alone. I was spot on so I must get a medal lads. I suppose Fitzie ans Cian surprised us last year and now they do it again. We always had faith in them but we didn't expect this performance and well done to all concerned. One thing I noticed was how happy the players were even before the game, their heads were definitely right and that is a big part. Cork were made to look bad by our superiority so let's not knock ourselves, Cork didn't become bad overnight and they may well be there again. We'd trash Mayo and the main reason The Dubs will remain favourites is that the population of Dublin has backed them and which is 20+ times that of Kerry. We have a top goalie and with such a strong bench I think the teams that beast us will claim Sam. With JackO sorting out the minors the future is now looking so good. It is also good to see younger lads progressing and JOD is an inspiration to any lad. Johnny Buckley is a star in the making while Geaney and O'Brien are also on track. Congrats to Eamnonn & Co again!

Is there anything more satisfying that a comprehensive win when a win is completely unexpected? Kerry were 7/4 today and anybody who took those generous odds never had a moments worry. Fair play to Eamon Fitz and team, they got the match ups spot on. To borrow a phrase, Cork looked like startled earwigs! A brilliant team performance, yes cork were poor on the day but let's not take away from the magnificence of our performance. Declan rolled back the years and really enjoyed pinging those passes into the lethal full forward line. In a bid to negate fade-outs, kerry have gone back to some old style running this year as part of their training regime. They have been doing some phenomenal aerobic work for some time and in the second half today, there would be no fade out. It was great to see us being so clinical and using the ball so well. A word of congrats to the minors also. Two goals disallowed for dubious reasons and brought back to within a point and then to pull away again at the end is a sign of a right team. A good day for kerry football, hopefully a few more by the end of the championship.

Great display all around. As as others have said already, I had no idea they had this kind of form within them. Long may it progress into permanence.
One question anyone think that the two frees at the start of the second half were terrible calls by the ref? As if he was trying to get Cork back into it.
Anyways well done Kerry .... Onwards and upwards.

Happens in alot of sports, thankfully we showed an ability to overcome it, something we didn't do last year.

On the run up to this game I could not make sense of the lack of reality in relation to the respective merits of the teams.(posted here) Unfortunately for this group of Cork players it would appear that Mother Nature did not bestow her bounty equally on both sides of the county boundary. The Cork defence today was about as effective as a screen door on a submarine. Mayo or Dublin and a few others will not be so easy. And their forwards were like an attacking goose – menacing but ponderous. Now that some bit of sense has been restored let us not deceive ourselves and go to the other extreme.
P.S. I think it needs to be said that the management did an excellent job today. If we have a ‘B’ squad that has twice beaten this team we can’t be too bad!!!

Congratulations to Kerry on winning the Munster Football Championship, 2014.
The great pity is that Cork didn't even give ye a game.
Not Kerry's fault, of course. They did what they had to do and did it very well.

Its going to be very hard for Darran, Crowley & Donaghy to get back into that team after today! Moran caught a couple of nice balls when he came on too. Early days but hopefully an exciting summer lies ahead

One of my proudest days as a Kerry fan today. Hard to know how the year will pan out but I'm just so thrilled and proud of the way the team played. Cian o neill mikey and Fitz putting their stamp on this team and to think people were talking of Kerry doing blanket defence

What genius on The Sunday Game decided not to include Bryan Sheehan's incredible sideline free in the highlights?
The point of the championship so far, and they don't bother showing it. Boggles the mind.

Yeah, there'll be 2 qualifier games and 2 qtr-finals that Aug weekend so as usual we probably won't know until the 27th/28th how they'll all line up, as some double/triple headers are likely incl Minors. Looking forward to a full day out in Croker though!

Onwards and upwards. Soft frees alright, and one was moments after Killian was fouled bearing down on goal and nothing given. Thought for a minute McQuillan had sneaked on at half-time. No harm done in the end but they put Cork back within range and you never know what can happen. Johnny Buckley looked like the player he once promised to be today; scored 4 points and ran through Aidan Walsh like a paper hoop at one stage. Now, can he keep this up ? Fantastic composure by Brian Kelly to catch that ball, fall over Marc without spilling it, then up straight away to lay it off.

Here's a few observations and I only saw it on TV:
1. Maher and Killian were invisible on TV but a reliable cadger tells me that Maher broke loads of ball to Declan and Killian was brill. Buckley looked like Jacko on TV but the man at the match said he dropped out for periods; I think Aidan Walsh wished he droppped out a bit more! This game looked so different on TV. Also fear for goalie when he tried to jump over was it Marc and that was not so obvious on TV either?
2. The old Chesnut of were we good or they bad is relevant: I think Cork were good but we out classed them. That they believed the hype caused them to tank easier and their manager's face was the same colour as his jersey @ 20 mins and the camera man picked up on that. Reminded me of Pillar the day we destroyed the Dubs on the bank holiday Monday quarter finals, remember Goochs goal on 37 seconds! Kerrty were majestic today and we should all take pride in that and doing that doesn't mean we will get carried away. We are not fools, never were. There is only one objective and that is Sam's homecoming and him parading in Listowel for the races! I also think Colm O'Rourke was out of order in saying Cork were spineless, we were too good and Cork were never spineless and never will be; they are a gallant GAA county and long may that remain. They deserve respect and even more so when things didn't go their way; we have all been there. Three dual players and 'spineless' is a bit of a contradiction and their manager was magnanimous in defeat, an honest Munster man. McStay also called it right, if honestly although he didn't nail it as to whether Kerry were good or Cork were bad, maybe time restricted, and by the way I am a big fan of his? It reminds me of O'Rourke teaching Commerce and he now in NAMA; will our future business men be spineless!
3. The world cup proves that refereeing is so difficult and I wonder if any refs ever intentionally make wrong decisions? The only exception is blowing up games to knock them down to The Dubs and that is a GAA HQ policy that needs to stop. The other notable one was the Louth v Meath goal and I think that is best forgotten. I think Sean Cavanagh will get nothing from a referee ever again, and that is me agreeing 100% with Brolly.
4. I am based in Donegal and the real GAA people I know were delighted to see 'Kerry football' being played as only we can do. That we could be a threat to them is not allowed to destroy the moment and that is true GAA spirit; class is class. From a positivity perspective I think that people outside the county often appreciate what we have a bit more. I find the same applies to writing poetry about Kerry; maybe one needs to stand well back when assessing something so vast!
5. Fitzie & Co have now arrived and proven their genius and commitment and so they deserve our 100% support and respect, in every respect. Just imagine what they put into it and then we often accuse them on the wrong. As Kerry people let's get the balance right, bearing in mind that constructive criticism is, well constructive. Management got their match ups so right today; I bet that if all of us on here were in charge we'd be bate home after 5 mins.
And then the 'cheek' of JOD to try for a goal when he had to legit entitlement, it was worth a goal as it vexed Cork so much that they burned up what little mental energy they had left! This JOD is a very bold boy!
Ah maybe you're getting sick of me but here's a good yarn: a Corkonian friend of always says to me that 'my father always told me to never trust a Kerryman'. Oh his dad was so right, a wise Cork man! Up ya boy you! The rogue is looking down on us!
Maybe I'm over quota here so slan go foil a chairde Chiarrai agus ta siuil agam go meidh meid ag climbing Hogan in September, airis, uimhir a 37!
And hey Veteran, where's our report man? You have deadlines!

A huge congrats to both teams today. James O'Donoghue's wizardry reminded me of Fitzy's performance in his first Munster Final in '88. The guy's strength and skill is a class apart. An Ríocht Abú.

Only saw the game on TV myself but was very proud of the best display from a Kerry side for a long long time. I thought Brian Sheehan's 45 early in the second half was the crucial score. It settled Kerry as Cork were coming back into the game at that stage. The whole team were brilliant but Declan O'Sullivan, Johnny Buckley and of course James O'Donoghue were exceptional. Well done to all.

Either the Saturday or the Monday of the bank holiday weekend it seems, with Ulster and Leinster provincial winners in action the following week: www.gaa.ie/fixtures-and-results/national-fixtures/gaa-football-all-ireland-senior-championship/Enjoyed the day out in Cork today, certainly defied expectations. Atmosphere so-so for a provincial final but well done to players and management, a fit and hungry bunch...and the minors well geed up too!

There was a strange old feel to the day throughout. I landed in the city at around midday expecting major traffic disruptions but sailed through. The watering holes were strangely quiet as well. Normal Cork and Kerry banter was well below par.
Landing into the Park I was surprised to see such a strong crowd. I was even more surprised to find that the atmosphere was non existent.
Cork got off to the ideal start and there was a feeling amongst us that it was going to be a tough day at the office. Kerry arrived into the game like a battering ram. I called for Bryan Sheehan to start midfield prior to the game. What a game he had. Immense all day long. His accuracy into the little nippers inside is second to none.
The strange atmosphere continued throughout that first half. The first Cork roar came when James O D was denied by a decent save. In an effort to galvanise the Cork team the volume increased. It quickly descended to a whimper yet again and the only roars that were heard were from the jubilant Kerry contingent.
Much will be said of the Cork performance or lack of. When there was a game on yesterday Kerry simply outgunned them in every sector. First to most breaking balls and some outstanding midfield play really gave us the foundation for a simply breathtaking display of classy old school Kerry football.
Declan O Sullivan covered every blade of grass. Pulled the strings every time he gathered possession.
True tougher tests lie ahead but who will want Kerry now?
Veteran describes one of our greatest ever "the elusive butterfly". I wonder how he would describe James. A true talent. Shields and Cadagan will have better days. If James had a handle on his back yesterday they still wouldn't have held him. A word for Paul Geaney who was also fantastic. Cadagan gave him plenty of treatment right at the start of the game. Paul was not one bit bothered. Moments later he had turned the boy inside out and popped over a beauty with his left. Hat's off.
The strange atmosphere continued at the final whistle. Kerry supporters were almost as shell shocked as the Cork lads and lassies. The few pints tasted sweet though deep in enemy territory.

great week for kerry football 3 munster titles won against cork. eamon fitzmaurice and his backroom team deserves huge credit for this display. the team looked yards fitter than cork, got team selection and match ups spot on. gave his newcomers against clare a deserved vote of confidence and they repayed that trust big time. also when cork treaten to make a game of it at start of 2 half [dodgy ref decisions] they upped tempo again. he can cap any overhype before 1/4 final by saying cork underperformed on the day.
now im not saying we should get that banner from old trafford!
