Its a strange system when a team which loses in Round 1 is rewarded with a bye to the next round in this draw.

are games down for week after munster final, dont be surprised if they are put back. crokes v legion should be a cracker, the longer the crokes go in the championship the harder to beat them.

Anyone think its a bit too convenient for these teams to get the bye into the quarters? It would have been very difficult for the county board to arrange the refixture of West Kerry Kilcummin game, easy solution put them straight through and play there game on same weekend as last 16 games. Or am i thinking too cynically!?

What's the reason mitchels pulled away from st Brendan's board Apparently it's due to the recent intermediate fixture when Ardfert & Mitchels failed to agree on a date- Mitchels were unhappy with the date of the fixture and have withdrawn all their players from ALL competitions, not just senior- they will not participate @ U-21 or minor either.

i will fire this in here maybe deserves thread of its own. report at county board meeting of review committee they propose to limit the no of club teams to 8 and run comp on a knockout basis setting aside 3/4 weekends before munster championship. how will they decide on which 8 club teams will it be top 8 in the league or last 8 in club championship? in theory this years winners could lose out who will decide where club that are dropped will go and join up? there are currently 9 district boards this will mean 17 teams in co champ. why not have 3 groups of 2 club teams and 2 district teams and 1 group of 2 club teams and 3 district teams?. top 2 play in quarter finals every team get min 3 games.
the senior club championship would only have 8 teams. the intermediate winners would them play off against the lowest ranked team from these 2 competitions.

Dingle a good side but when your relying on minors to win u games I think your going to be in trouble! 5 minors starting ino 4 of them are Kerry minors but when it gets to the latter stages of the championship there going to be in trouble as minors wont have the experience! St Brendans were awful you would nearly compare them to a good Intermediate team thats how poor I thought they were! An awful game to watch! Stacks and Rathmore was a bit more exciting, although Rathmore were always going to be up against it missing Shane Ryan John Moynihan and Mark Reen and also Paul Murphys younger brother whos in America I believe! It was close enough up to half time with the teams level and Donal Sullivan doing well in midfield but Stacks showed that extra bit of class in 2nd half and pulled away Wayne Gutrie and Shane Callaghan very impressive in 2nd half but overall 2 dissapointing games!

Legion beat Crokes and Crokes go out . It was probably time for a change the Championship needed it . It is wide open now it could be Stacks year now . Conor Keane was very good for Legion along with James O'Donoghue .

No offence to Crokes, but that's a great result for Kerry football. Well done to Legion.

Well done Mikey Boyle for Shannon Rangers today in Ballylongford. He turned the game when he went in, scored a goal and layed on a second for Paul Kennelly. Those two goals were the difference between the teams at the end. Shannon Rangers 2-12 St Michaels Foil more 0-12.

coming back to football; 2nites game at lewis road was a real ding dong affair, legion started great but crokes came back into it mainly through frees. legion struggled to get fast ball into their 2 man inside line due to savage crokes pressure all over the field and poor options taken at times. in second half crokes treatened to pull away legion were on the ropes but clung on for a final flurry of points. fionn and jod had a great tussle all through and j buckley had a good game kicking a couple of great scores , but the star of the game was conor keane kicked 8 points. his booking in the second half was a joke he was pulled down 3 times off the ball during that attack. legion have won nothing yet but bragging rights, have they made winning co. championship easier for someone else
fair play to crokes they were great champions, unluckey to run into good south kerry side in mid 00 , that cost them a few titles. the injury to gooch and fallout from castlebar defeat was too big a hurdle to overcome this year. come next year they will be team to beat again.

A fully fit and focused Declan along with Bryan and Killian motoring well will give South Kerry a good basis to mount a serious challenge. The timing of Kerry's exit from the championship will have a big bearing on the championship this year. The later it goes on the more preparation the Divisional teams are likely to get in. Mid Kerry, Stacks and Legion will be there or thereabouts as well. The fact that all remaining teams will fancy their chances should ensure better preparation and tighter, higher quality games.
