I know it's only January but it's time to start looking ahead. Presuming that most teams have started back or will shortly let's turn an eye to the top tier. Any predictions for top/bottom of this division. It has an intriguing look about it.
Favourites to go down - ?
Surprise package - ?
Champs - ?

Stacks to win.. I feel they were the most consistent team last year and will have nearly all there players asides from Donaghy
Bally, Listowel and Finuge to go down.. Bally's loss of the O'Connors to prove crucial.. I don't feel Listowel have the quality and neither do Finuge
Kilcumin to be surprise package as they were decimated by injuries last year

Stacks it is for me also. Very strong and a side from some possible emigration wont be missing too many throughout the year.
St. Michaels / Foilmore to be a surprise package with their young guns coming through the ranks.
Waterville, Listowel and Currow to dissapear for me.

Winners: Austin stacks, don't think kor will retain the title as bj keane playing with Kerry, crokes might b there, Surprise package: maybe Waterville had good results last yr lost couple games by a point but I say intermediate champ will b there focus v good backs but no forwards, Relegation: currow and finuge, and sadly I believe st michaels foilmore will go down is a pity the way they lost Eanna o Conor and Cian also there father jack, great club started off in novice and to senior club but there 7th yr in division 1 will end in disappointment,

Has no1 taken over Castleisland yet? No they are still going from game to game, talks of a man that has trained Kerry minor teams and has a sackful of all ireland senior medals coming on board so that could be a huge positive for them yet

Foilmore won 1:10 to 0:10 guess there is life after the o Connor brothers & father, great work rate in 2nd half m.griff v good and strong I say miltown were missing a few foilmore should of won by more 2 missed goal chances and poor finishing. After yesterday's display they should have no problem staying up if they keep this work rate up

Finuge 2-07 Dr Crokes 0-14.
Both sides were under strength with Maurice Corridon, Enda Galvin and Paul Galvin the notable absentees for Finuge while Dr.Crokes were missing their Kerry contingent and a handful more due to injury. Kieran and Buddy O'Leary's younger brother Johnny debutised in goal for the injured David 'Melon' Moloney who sustained an injury in an interfirms All Ireland final the previous day with Liebherr Cranes, Killarney(who triumphed by 6 against a Carlow firm).
Crokes were quick to get on the scoreboard and held an early lead of two points through the boots of Brian Looney and Gavin O Shea. Finuge responded through Ricky Heffernan before Crokes restored their two point advantage through Chris Brady. James Flaherty, who was lively throughout, responded with a point to put the minimum between the sides. Flaherty had a good battle with young Crokes corner back Mark Egan throughout the whole game. Crokes were dominant for the first 20 minutes in midfield where Shane Doolan and Michael Milner controlled matters, Alan O'Sullivan was also prominent at half forward. This midfield dominance eventually saw Crokes pull away from Finuge and open up an 9 points to 3 gap. Brian Looney and Gavin O'Shea were the chief tormentors. Finuge got to grips for the remaining 10 minutes of the first half and were more tenacious in both the half forward and half back lines and dominated the breaking ball. This was the platform they needed to get them back into the game and they reduced the margin to five through a Raymond Galvin free after a foul on Conor Fitzmaurice. Then came a moment of brilliance when Raymond Galvin dispatched to the net for a superb individual goal after carrying the ball from the 65 to smash it low into the bottom corner from 13 yards out, the young Crokes goalkeeper had no chance.
HT Finuge 1-4 Crokes 0-9.
The second half saw young Kerry minor, Micheal Burns, introduced for Mike 'Smiler' Moloney. Moloney had a difficult first half on both Ricky Heffernan and Raymond Galvin although he did not look to be moving freely after he also played a tough interfirms game the previous day. Galvin was a particular thorn in the Killarney side throughout. A few positional switches saw Kieran Ward pick up Raymond Galvin in the full forward line. Shane Doolan reverted back to Centre half back while Alan O'Sullivan moved to midfield.
The second half was extremely sloppy in the first 10 with many turnovers but Crokes profited when Looney and Brady pointed to put four between the sides. Flaherty responded for Finuge to put a green flag between the sides. Further scores from Raymond Galvin and a fine score from Pat Corridon put the minimum between the sides at the three quarter mark. Finuge seemed to be gaining the upper hand but Declan McCarthy saw the black card for a cynical foul which resulted in Brady tapping over the free to leave 2 between the sides. Looney and a superb free on the sideline from last years Kerry minor Tony Brosnan once again saw Crokes open up a four point advantage heading into injury time. Finuge responded with a fine goal from Fergus Fitzmaurice to leave it a one point game but it was too little too late for Finuge. Finuge put up a brave fight and will be proud of their performance. Crokes are off the scoreboard and can take plenty of positives from the game, they can also improve their wayward shooting where they had 14 wides in total throughout.
Best players on display were Raymond Galvin and Pat Corridon for Finuge while Shane Doolan, Gavin O'Shea, Michael Milner and Brian Looney had good games for the visitors.

Listowel Emmets 2-08 St Michael's Foilmore 2-10
Conor Cox played for Emmets, though not listed in the programme, and had a fine game, scoring 1-6 of their total. Noel Kennelly got the other 1-2. One of the main problems for Listowel was that nobody else even had an attempt, as far as I remember, and it was mostly left to Cox to carry the attack on his own.
Foilmore took an early lead, but failed to build on it with some bad wides. A Cox goal started a good spell by Listowel who were 6 points to the good at one stage. A goal and a point for Foilmore left them trailing by 2 at the break (1-6 to 1-4).
Foilmore took over in the second period, while Listowel pretty much died. Emmets were unable to compete im midfield and the supply into the forwards dried up. Trailing by 5 in the closing stages, a scrambled goal from Kennelly and a Cox free brought them to within a point. Foilmore tagged on the next score and saw the game out.
Not a game to live in the memory. As usual, a very poor crowd in Listowel and, going by what little noise there was, the visitors had more supporters there.

Dingle 0-13 Rahalies 2-09 Report? Scorers?

Rahillys were fully deserving of their 3 point win in Dingle on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-13. Rahillys started the stronger and were leading 4 points to 1 after 15 mins when their wing forward was shown a black card which seemed to disrupt their momentum with both sides exchanging scores from there to the interval leaving Rahillys ahead by 4, 0-8 to 0-4. Barry John Keane was outstanding up front in the first half aided by Kieran O'Mahony where the midfield combination of David Moran & John C O'Connor were dominant. Rahillys dominated again on the resumption and were leading 0-9 to 0-5 when Kieran O'Mahony found the net. Dingle came into the game more through Dara O'Sullivan and were only 4 points in arrears when BJ Keane careered through the middle and planted the ball in the top corner. Dingle continued to press and it took a great save from Gary Kissane to see the game out. Rahillys had outstanding performers in full back Shane Brosnan, mid fielders David Moran & John C O'Connor and BJ Keane up front who contributed 1-7 to their final total.

What has happened to currow is the gap that big between div 2 & 1 thank god they got a soft draw in the club & county champs because if they drew the big teams ie crokes it could be a cricket score
