He normally reports on the North Kerry games & it seems very strange that he didnt comment on the game last Sunday?
He hasnt posted since since September 22nd - I'm not trying to be intrusive, I just hope that the man is ok.

I miss Veteran's analysis of and observations on Kerry matches. Hopefully we will see him back in action shortly. The best analyst of games on the forum bar none.

Yip, we all miss his insight especially those of us living outside the county who don't get to many local games. Boy does he make you feel you were there, you'd often feel cold as he'd describe a game in Ballybunion by the sea in December. His regaling of match-ups from history and his forensic memory were, well unmatched. Does anyone know him personally, if any one knows the site supervisors maybe we can make discrete enquiries. Unfortunately I can't help out here but someone must as it is imperative that we ensure we don't allow the Internet to fail us in this respect.
SO WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE THIS ON NOW.

Certainly he was without peer as a report writer of a game that took place. I found his obsession with playing the long ball to Donaghy tiresome in the extreme especially when it obvious that as a tactic it was old hat. He railed against Colm moving to 11 when the massed defence had rendered him ordinary.

No i think that was mike quirke!!
I never thought much of veterans analysis, a lot of it was from the jimmy Magee school of analysis ie lots of facts and nostalgia but the game has changed.

His post after the kerry v Dublin game last year is not only an excellent reading of the game but also brilliantly written.
What I admire so much about his pieces is that he doesn't claim to know it all, offers an honest take on the game and writes so eloquently.
Hope to see him return soon.

Here here, he had great knowledge of individual players. I once recall discussing a man who donned the extrava-geansai jersey a few times and Veteran was right in there, asserting without pushing it, in the end readers benefited and that is what this forum is all about. And yes, his natural craft is well, natural. Hopefully he'll grace these pages soon.

Hate to be the one who kills the mood in here But would ye not stfu and leave the guy alone! Do we not have enough football and even hurling to talk about? I hope the guy is alright, he was a great contributor here...but those of you who struggle to now sleep at night with worry for veteran, get a grip!!!! Yer behind-kissing has now brought about others questioning veterans greatness and picking him apart, which is unfair on the guy and ye only have yerselves to blame!! Veteran has his legacy here, it's a great one, let it rest at that. End the love-ins and call off the man-hunt! Sorry for the rant, but felt it needed to be said!

The forum is for people to comment on what interests them; you cannot really tell others what conversations not to have, just because it is of no interest to you. So it would be perfectly acceptable of me to create a thread on say..."The best methods of teaching Algebra in the classroom"...on a GAA forum because that's "what interests" me! This is the Kerry GAA forum, not Boards.ie or a lonely hearts/missing persons column. Veteran hasn't posted here in more than half a year, work it out for yerselves and save the BS. And as I mentioned already, yer doing Veteran's "legacy" no favours with threads like this. His posts are still here to be read and admired.

With Seamo on this one.
Like most people here I enjoyed Veteran's reports, especially from the mysterious world of North Kerry Championship football. Great to have a man on the ground to report from those battle fields in the depths of winter.
Every forum member is entitled to privacy and anonymity though.
I'm sure most people here don't know the true identity of Veteran, and even if they did I don't think it would be right for them to be on here responding to the title of this thread to say where or who or how he is!

Dozens of posters have disappeared from the forum without a trace over the years. It's their own business why.

In fairness I think some people are just a bit concerned that he is OK. He is obviously entitled to privacy but I think its a genuine concern for a valued contributor. I just wish Veteran well, whatever the reason for his non posting.

I'd be assuming that we only post GAA related stuff seamo, and I'd be assuming that you'd know that and going by your posts I think I am right. We only all read what is of interest but we must maintain freedom of speech and rubbish gets weeded out anyway. We all know of commentators that we wouldn't miss and it is heartening that veteran is; would I be missed?
