Sensible arrangement. No point in penalising teams for making the step up especially if they take a hiding off of a strong county. In essence Like hurlingman said I suppose they should let all counties begin the minor and u21 c'ship, let the weaker counties play the early rounds and bring the stronger counties in at quarter final stage. Any county who fails to get beyond quarter final stage could be eligible for the B.

Any sign on the website of the panel for tomorrow's match against Wicklow. Just looking back on old posts and seems I made the same request this time last year .... Suppose my post will be put into cloud "pending approval"
Another year on and still no recognition for these young men.

4 Dr Crokes men on the panel. Encouraging to see players outside North Kerry on the team
Hope Aaron Murphy starts. He is a sub with the minor footballers. Fine hurler.

Kerry will play Roscommon in the All Ireland Minor "B" Championship semi final on this Saturday in Nenagh at 3pm. Meath play Westmeath in the other Semi Final.
You'd have to fancy another win here for Kerry. Roscommon are normally strong at this level so should make for a good game

great win today, 3 18 great score to put up. some of these players winning second medal at this grade.
disappointing the attitude of other weaker counties to this grade and also croke park. meath got walkover in semi final from westmeath who were making great strides at developing hurling base over the last couple of years.all christy ring counties should be forced to enter teams at both minor b and u 21 b level to make these competions relevant.

I think the reason Westmeath gave Meath the walkover was actually very honorable and decent. I don't think it was anything to do with a lack of commitment by the Westmeath CB but a case of handing out what they believed was an appropriate punishment when a number of their players acted disgracefully when representing their county. I'd imagine the last thing they wanted to so was hand a walkover to allow their neighbours Meath into an All-Ireland final. www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=222338

Forcing teams isnt the way to go but i agree it should be made more relevant. Iv posted before what i think should be done but ill do it again based on this year. Meath, Westmeath, Kildare, Wicklow and even Offaly all played in the Leinster championship this year but didnt make the Q/F so they should have all gone into the B championship, Carlow did make the Q/F but even they maybe should have gone into it as well. In Munster Kerry are the only team that should be playing in the B championship, that goes without saying. In Ulster Donegal played and only lost out by 2 points to Derry in the Q/F. They went on to the B championship while Derry made the final after beating Armagh who also went into the B championship. But Derry didnt get to play in the All Ireland Q/F so why now have them in the B championship too? On the other side of the draw then Down lost to Antrim but they didnt play in the B championship. It would have been much better to have had Donegal, Derry, Down and Armagh playing in the B championship. From Connacht as always you'd have Roscommon. But Mayo have won the last two C championships. So you would think they would be better to have moved up a grade. Based on that you'd have Kerry, Meath, Westmeath, Kildare, Wicklow, Offaly, Carlow, Derry, Down, Donegal, Armagh, Roscommon and Mayo, Thats 13 teams and would make for a very competitive championship with teams all at the same level and a little above that. It would would bring out the teams in it big time

GAA should use financial grants and coaching supports as a method of encouraging counties participate in competitions. The more competitions a county participates in, the greater the level of support - this should be particularly true for the "lesser" competitions. Participation is an indication of the level of effort being put into games development and the GAA should be rewarding and acknowledging this effort by funnelling resources to those counties. Of course the cost of putting out teams is also a deterrent for some counties and again some form of financial support to weaker counties may help overcome this.

There was a program on tv a couple of weeks ago which entailed Donal Og and a bunch of other hurlers going to America and playing a hybrid hurling game in Nore Dame, think it was 9-aside from what I recall. Great to see the game being spread around the world and showing off what we have...but made me think shouldn't we conquer Ireland before taking this to the world !!! Less than half the country puts enough effort into promoting hurling.
