Ticket warning 10 September 2007
The GAA has stated that a small number of tickets for Sunday’s Bank of Ireland All Ireland Football final between Kerry and Cork have been reported as not reaching their destination and that these tickets are now presumed stolen.
With the new security ticket system being used for the finals these tickets will be nullified and will not be accepted by the computer scanning system now in operation for Croke Park.
The Association have asked supporters to note that holders of tickets which have been reported as lost or stolen will not therefore gain admission and supporters are forewarned that they should source tickets from a known and reliable source only. It has also been confirmed that the GAA has been in contact with a number of unofficial Ticketing websites to advise of this policy and have further confirmed that holders of long term tickets who place their tickets for sale on such forums will have the remainder of their contracts bought out by the GAA and their term agreements annulled.

Saw an upper hogan ticket during the weekend. Very different to last years design. Don't fold it though if you get one. it'll probably crack as they have a plastic coating on them. Was tempted to make off with it though

There'll be no problem with tickets - a friend of mine was telling me of one Kerry club that actually sent back 30 tickets to Croke Park which they were unable to sell.

It's like this....there are 82,000 tickets for the All- Ireland final. If you want one, you'll get one! Anybody who fails to get a ticket obviously didn't try very hard. If this were true then how come there are tickets selling for 600 euro a pair on ebay.

i have no doubt that there will be tickets floating around on the day just like the hurling final. You might even be kucky enough to get a free one from the guards at a barrier as a friend of mine got last sunday week. Though it is always preferable to travel to the game with a ticket in your arse pocket.

I find that very hard to believe Jo90, either someone is winding u up or u winding us up, shure most clubs don't even sell their tickets until later in week, prob tonight and thurs night

I rarley get a ticket from an official source. It comes from the official source originally, but it has probably changed hands a number of times before it eventually feeds down to the fan who doesn't get them from the clubs or corporate groups. They should release the numbers of the stolen tickets to give desperate fans the chance to find out before they get to the stiles if the ticket they tried so hard to get is stolen or not. I think it's a joke and they're will be some extremely angry fans turned away on Sunday

it might be scare mongering to put people off buying from places like needaticket.ie etc,
if it is its a bit unfair as a very large number of people dont belong to a club etc and have to look else where,i hope its geniune or else it badly thought out, they should at least publish the no.s and locations of the tickets reputed to be stolen or lost.

scare mongering is all that is alright. If they were to block all the tickets that come from unofficial source then the place will be half empty. I am not saying they are stolen or misappropriated, just not in the possession of those that they were originally intended for.
If someone gets a ticket through a club or where ever, what is to stop them giving it to someone else for free or for cash. ( I do not and would not sell or buy a ticket for a cent over the face value).
The Gaa's bluff job is uninforceable. Hold back tickets and release them on the day of the match. That fecks up the touts big time.

Just wondering - any ticket scheme members out there, what sort of tickets did ye get?
I got ones for the third last row of the upper canal end, hogan stand side... probably the worst tickets in the ground.
Now I hate complaining, and I'm sure the County Board have a difficult job to do in distributing tickets, and there are better causes than the ticket scheme members. But the scheme members should get a little better treatment than this...
Any views?

Jo90, seems to be the same here. I'm almost physically sick here today cos I just heard someone who was never even at a football match has two stand tickets for Sunday. His close neighbour who has given his lifes blood to the local club and has been to the vast majority of both Cork football and hurling matches is sitting at home with his fingers crossed hoping that his club will get more tickets. I swear something is rotten is the state of Denmark.

Tickets for All Ireland final... I'm jumping on the band wagon but I think its a disgrace that every year Kerry play in an All-Ireland final... you'll see 'fans' who haven't attended one game all year sitting proud as punch in Croke Park...simply because thay have better contacts than the 'real' fans. Have attended games the length and breath of the country and can't get a ticket. Attended the 'Goal' game last year in Tralee... where were all the fans that night? Who wanted to come out and support the Kerry Senior football team after their All-Ireland win? I think the GAA needs to drastically review its policy on how tickets are distributed. Have booked a hotel in Dublin for Saturday night in the hopes of getting a ticket and also on Sunday night in the hopes of sharing in the celebrations. Costing me and herself €325... and still no ticket.

Heard that, on All-Ireland final day with losts of neutrals around that don't wear colours that the GAA like to put the competing counties behind the goals so that when there is a score people watching around the world see the colour. Isn't that nice.....

Now I hate complaining, and I'm sure the County Board have a difficult job to do in distributing tickets, and there are better causes than the ticket scheme members. But the scheme members should get a little better treatment than this... Any views? Kerry probly got less than 6,000 stand tickets in total. and the scheme takes up 2000 of that. from what i heard they don't have 2000 tickets in any other part of the ground than canel end. and some scheme members i know got front row in the upper tier - so i guess you were unlucky. not everyone can squeeze into row a and all that. the question we should be asking, is why the hell are at least one third of our stand tickets (and probly more) in the canel end at all? why can't croke park give decent tickets to the competing counties ffs. in responce to your last paragraph, because the whole ticketing system leaves alot to be desired, its geared towards those in the know, those in the inner circle of the club and shows total disregard to the people who actually go to the games year round,or to those people who might not be quiet gifted enough to represent thier club on the field of play or to those who's opinions might not be respected enough in the club house but still bleed their counties colours and love to attent games,or finally to those people who live anything from 200 to 5000 miles from their clubs and cant be involved. until competing counties either get a proper allocation of quaility tickets for all-ireland final day or through the launching of a coupon system where people build up enough credit to secure the rights to their own ticket the system will remain flawed.

Kerryman and son of Charlie, Dan Nelligan was interviewed in the supplement in the Examiner on Tuesday or Wednesday.. he's in charge of tickets in Croke Park
He went through allocation of tickets and how it works and where the idea behind it came. Its a good read.

an allocation of about 16000 good quality tickets to the competing counties would go along way towards addressing the ticket problem, the present allocation puts alot of demand and pressure on the clubs to distribute the tickets fairly.
