Seen Brendan Lane in goal for Brosna. He played with Brosna in the 1984 Novice final and still today so he must be well into his 40's. Who are others still going strong?

Brendan Lane is 46, playing in goals for brosna seniors with 28 years. there was a piece in the star news paper yesterday about him.. some service to give. He also made his senior debut for kerry same day as dara in 94!! Tadgh leahy is also on the brosna panel and i think he is 48!

Genie is reputably the fittest man on the Annascaul panel but 38/9 years of age.

Maurice Fitzgerald played midfield for St Marys last saturday against Bally/foilmore at 42 years of age. Typical of the man he gave a terrific performance scoring a crucial point near the end of the game. I doubt his like (I include Seamus Moynihan and Genie Farrell as well) will ever be seen again. We in South Kerry will enjoy these times ( unless you're from Bally/foilmore)

Liam Boyle was well into his 40s. came out of retirement when they were stuck for a goalie and ended up blocking bullets for a few years and clocked up a few more championship medals!! Johnny Culloty played in the 1955 all ireland football final at 19 years of age. He lined out at corner forward taking frees for st pats east kerry in the 1983 intermediate hurling final at 47\48 years of age and played in goals a year or two after that with them!!! Mick O'Connell played on for a long time with Valentia Liam Boyle Snr was in his 40s id say when he was playing and in goals for Ballyduff during the mid 90s,didnt he line out in one county final playing with his two sons Colm and Kenneth.

Cooper sounds good to me. He would have been 8 years old as a mascott in 1991

Christy Walsh was well into his 40's when Kilmoyley won the 4 in a row and he played in all the wins. Mick O'Connell played when Valentia won the Intermediate in the 90's as far as i can remember

We in South Kerry will enjoy these times ( unless you're from Bally/foilmore) Two years ago on being awarded the man of the match award in the South kerry final, Maurice quipped, "this must be a going away present", a throw away comment lost in the emotion of the game and the prospect of Maurice hanging up the boots. I remember reading a piece from a kerry county player, might have been Darragh, some time back that it could take one a few days to realise that Maurice was taking the piss out of you. Well it took two years this time, legend in fairness ;D

Who is the oldest regular Kerry club footballer at the moment? Genie Farrell lined out for Annascaul in May vs Beale at 42 (I think).

I recall a number of years ago a chap of about 70 if not more lined out for the Kenmare or Kilgarvan hurlers??

Tom Randles did line out for the Kilgarvan hurlers - I'm pretty sure he was club chairman at the time - but only because they would have been fined for giving a walkover otherwise Like wise, Mick O'Connell did come on as a late sub for Valentia when they beat Spa in the replayed Intermediate Final, but it was only a token gesture Mick O'Dwyer must be one of the longest serving of them all - he played his last game for Waterville in 1984 at the age of 48 (it's in Owen McCrohan's biography) and regularly marked the inter-county players he was managing. Showed them no mercy, either, by all accounts.
