UCC came through against Clyda Rovers in Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday evening.
Final score was 1-15 to 1-11.
Teams and scorers below taken from the print version of the Examiner.
UCC: 1. Eoghan O'Brien (Churchill), 2. Fionán Clifford (Waterville), 3. Jack McGuire (Listowel Emmets), 4. Dylan Fenton (St Vincents, captain), 5. Laurence Bastible (John Mitchels), 6. Jason Foley (Ballydonoghue), 7. Oran Clifford (Waterville), 8. Kevin Shanahan (Ardfert), 9. R O'Toole (Éire Óg), 10. Adrian Spillane (Templenoe), 11. Ronan Buckley (Listry), 12. Eibhin Courtney (Éire Óg, Ennis), 13. Liam O'Sullivan (St Michaels), 14. Killian Spillane (Templenoe), 15. Conor Geaney (Dingle).
Subs: Eoin Sheehan (Na Piarsaigh) for O'Toole (18 mins, inj), Cathal Bambury (Dingle) for Shanahan (40 mins), Brian Ó Beaglaioch (An Ghaeltacht) for Foley (46 mins, inj).
Other panel members: Darragh Holmes (Ballinora), Shane Hegarty (Dungourney), Tom Devine (Mondelligo), Padraig De Bruin (Firies), Conor Hughes (Canovee), Brian Looby (Ballinacourty), Chris Desmond (Naomh Abán), Cillian Tyers (Ballinhassig), Aidan O'Connor, Ian Galvin (Sneem/Derrynane), Michael Flood (St Bridgets).
Scorers: Conor Geaney (1-4), Killian Spillane (0-6, 0-4 from frees), Liam O'Sullivan (0-2), Laurence Bastible (0-1), Adrian Spillane (0-1), Brian Ó Beaglaioch (0-1).
Good effort by Brian Ó Beaglaioch to get from Killorglin to Cork in time to play the last quarter!
Conor O'Shea had an extra couple of days to recover from that game before CIT's fixture on Tuesday night, but even though he got an early goal they were well beaten 3-6 to 1-4 by St Finbarrs.
Quarter final draw resulted in Ballincollig v St Finbarrs, Carbery Rangers v Castlehaven, Duhallow v Valley Rovers, and Nemo Rangers v UCC which is due to be played at 7.30pm in Páirc Uí Rinn on Sep 24th.
With Tomás lining out at wing back for Nemo, there will be a bit of Kerry past v Kerry future about this one.

12/15 Kerry starters, wow. And some big names missing at that - Andrew Barry for one and are Mike Breen and Dan O Brien in UCC?

Where are all the young footballers in Cork going to college? A lot would be in CIT, well in terms of playing football anyway

Where are all the young footballers in Cork going to college? A lot of them probably playing with their club instead of the college?

Some of the reaction here from Nemo's 3-18 to 2-16 win over UCC last night... www.redfm.ie/news/sport/audio-nemo-rangers-defeat-ucc-in-sfc-qf/Can't see any proper online reports. Red FM's @bigredbench account were live tweeting it though. I see 2 of the Kenmare team who played in Killarney a few hours earlier were in action. Kieran Fitzgibbon in goal and Sean O'Shea. Not sure how much of the game O'Shea played but he seemed to get heavily involved in the 2nd half scoring. Conor Geaney and Cathal Bambury got a nice few points between them, and Brian Ó Beaglaioch got in for a goal. Adrian Spillane didn't play after getting injured Saturday. Killian didn't feature either.

Would they have played both games if the Ucc game was on first?

The two Clifford's from Waterville were also involved with ucc having earlier played with south Kerry. I don't imagine they'd have played if the order of games was reversed. It wouldn't take a pile of organisation to try have the games on subsequent days. How many players from saturdays double header were playing for colleges on Sunday I wonder?

The players just shouldnt play these matches- guaranteed way to pull a hamstring or get some other medium to long term injury

I don't think two games in two days is a whole pile better in terms of recovery.
I still don't know how the Sigerson and Fitzgibbon formats stand.

Yeah it's crazy enough at this stage- I saw Brian O Beagloch (Irish, evidently, isnt my strong point) playing 2 matches-I want him fit for Kerry's league campaign and I'm sure An Gaeltacht wasnt him fit for the intermediate final so someone should have a word

If so he might not have an option.

This is for the club side not the college side- I'd doubt that the club side comes into it as if it did then they would be unlikley to give scholarships to players who couldnt play- i.e. guys who are playing with a senior club elsewhere

No idea. At least with the divisions, same as Kerry, it gives players from smaller clubs a chance to showcase their skills on a bigger stage. There are drawbacks too of course, but at least there are some pros to go with along with the cons.

I suppose it is history.
I was at the 70th of a man who won a county championship with UCC in the 1969 Saturday night.

I'd like to see it resigned to history! As farcical as the college teams playing in the Janaury intercounty tournaments. At least that's just an early season kick about to get the fitness level up, mutually beneficial before the Sigerson and National Leagues begin. They've done away with the college involvement now anyway.

The college competitions should be organic in nature and self contained.
